Bang and Blame - Recap

The scene opens with Annie racing down the road in her car. She has her two nieces in the back seat and one of them has an ice pack to her head. They run into the Emergency Room and Annie tells, Dr. Scott Weiss that her niece, Chloe, fell and there is no loss of consciousness or anything. Scott tells that they will monitor her and Annie apologizes and Scott tells that she can meet him for lunch. Danielle comes into the ER and Annie sees Joan. Scott gives Annie his phone number. Annie gets outside and is told by Auggie that an instructor by the named of Roy Gaskin is suspected of leaking identity of recruit, Laura Taylor. They tell Annie that she is going to go back to “The Farm” and pretend to be a recruit that had to leave for a knee injury. However, if she is caught, she is burned. She tells that she will take the assignment.

Later, Annie is on the road and Auggie brings her up to her latest details as to what she is going to have to do and when she arrives at “The Farm”, she has to stay off the grid. She gets out of her car and Roy Gaskin is there. He tells her to hustle and catch up with her team. Annie and the other recruits arrive at a training session and it is all about choosing the best weapon for it. They run through and each recruit takes a bigger gun each time. Annie chooses to take the emergency exit map and manages to make it through without using a weapon. Gaskin asks why she didn’t take a gun and Annie tells that she didn’t finish her firearms training. However, Gaskin tells that she did right because drawing a gun is the last resort and tells the other recruits that if they want to shoot terrorists, then they can join the FBI. Annie asks one of the recruits, Gideon, if everyone is normal and he says that Emerson isn’t and that is who Annie is bunking with.

Annie gets to her room to find Emerson exercising. She tells that Laura was her roommate and now that she is gone, Annie can do what she wants. Annie tries to be friendly, but Emerson is not there to make friends and tells her that curfew is 9PM. Meanwhile, Jai comes into Joan’s office and asks about being elevated to a higher position. Joan tells that he can’t and Jai tries to scare Joan by saying that Arthur is going to fall and that they are going to start taking apart the Division that Joan is in charge of. Joan tells that she has work to do. Arthur is watching a tv program where Senator Paul Gottfried is telling that he has tried to meet with Arthur. Joan comes in and tells Arthur that he really should meet with him and he says that he doesn’t want to and says that Chet will handle things. Back at “The Farm”, the recruits get the list of recruits and Annie is #1 and Emerson is upset. The other recruits are laughing about their spot and talk about the Cocktail Party that they have to be part of. Annie tells that they are just exercises. Cory, another recruit says that his dad in the CIA says that they are not going to use half the stuff in the field. Gaskin comes up and Annie sees that he has a tote bag. She knows that his laptop is in there.

Annie sneaks off and calls on the payphone and calls Auggie. She asks if she is clear to exit and he says that she is on the list. However, the name is not there. The guard gets a call and tells Annie that she is clear. Annie follows Gaskin and she manages to see someone get into Gaskin’s car, but loses him. She gets back to “The Farm” and tries to get into her room, but Emerson locked her out because it is past curfew. The next day, Annie is jogging and Gaskin pulls up and tells her to get in the car so that he can give her a primer for weapons training. They go to the woods and Gaskin asks about the demerit that Annie received for being late. Annie tells that she drove around. Gaskin gives Annie the gun and is impressed with her aim. Annie tells that her father used to take her hunting. Annie gets back to “The Farm” and they have a lecture. It is Auggie who is the speaker. Afterward, Annie talks to Auggie and he says that he will be with her during the Cocktail Party Exercise. Annie tells that she thinks that Gaskin might have made her and Auggie tells that he will check out which is the best way in.

Later at the Cocktail Party, every recruit is trying to memorize their covers and Gideon has a hard cover who cannot even pronounce his name. Annie tries to help, but he can’t say it. Annie gets into the party and talks to Auggie. She uses her “cover” and he tells her about the layout and Annie manages to get to Gaskin’s office and finds his laptop. She puts the Flash drive in and copies the information. Gaskin comes in when Annie is about to leave. Auggie comes in without his shirt and pretends to have been with Annie. They leave and Annie gives Auggie the Flash drive. Annie remembers something and calls Scott. She tells that she has a work project and Scott asks if it has to do with the Smithsonian and Annie asks how he knows that and Scott tells that Danielle told him. They set up a date and later, Annie meets him. They sit down. Meanwhile, Arthur meets with Gina and she tells that he needs to talk to Senator Gottfried. Gina asks if he told Joan about their meeting and he says that he didn’t. Gina says that Arthur can meet her at her office. Back at the restaurant, Scott and Annie talk about their travels. However, they look at the time and Annie tells that she has to go. Scott tells that they can pick it up some other time.

Annie gets back to “The Farm” and finds herself locked out again. Annie goes outside and finds that Sherie is tossed out. Annie calls Auggie and asks if the team got what they needed. She hangs up and is taken by someone. It is Gaskin and he takes her to a basement. He asks why the Agency is framing him for leaking the identity of the recruits. Gaskin tells that he is innocent and says that he was picking up his wife the night she followed him. He says that they are trying to have a family. Annie says that she believes him. Gaskin suspects that it is one of the recruits that is the leaker. The next day, Annie calls Auggie and asks if one of the team members is the leak. She hangs up and Jai comes into Auggie’s office and he asks about the people in the building. Auggie says that the Division that Jai thought was going to be cut first, is being cut now. Jai tells that he is going home and tells Auggie to tell Joan whatever he wants to tell her. Meanwhile, Arthur meets with Senator Gottfried and he says that he can become Arthur’s friend in this. He offers to play a round of Golf with Arthur and he accepts his offer.

Back at “The Farm”, Annie, Gideon, Emerson and Cory are on a plane and the instructor tells them to get off the plane after him. Emerson pushes past everyone and tells that they are taking too long. Gideon is nervous and Cory gives him a hard time. Gideon tells that he saved Cory’s butt for sneaking in whiskey last night. Annie tells Gideon to go before her so that she can check her gear. Annie asks about the whiskey and Cory says that he knew that everyone would be bummed. Annie tells that no one knew that Sherie was going to get cut from the program. Cory fights with Annie and they fall out of the plane. In the air, they continue to fight and Annie manages to knock him unconscious and pull his parachute. Later, the graduation of the recruits happens and Annie gets her diploma finally. Gaskin talks to Annie and she says that she is happy that Sherie and Laura are getting State jobs. Meanwhile, Gina comes up to Joan and Arthur and tells that she is glad that Arthur took her advice and spoke to Gottfried. Joan looks at him snidely. The episode ends with Annie having dessert with Scott at a nice restaurant.
