The Wake-Up Bomb - Recap

The scene opens with Danielle putting on her voicemail. Annie leaves a message that tells her sister what she is allowed to tell her. Annie is in Venice and she gets a location to meet an asset at. She makes her way down there and sits next to a guy. She talks about the Opera and realizes that he is her contact. He gives her an envelope and is immediately shot. Annie runs off with the envelope with a man following close behind. Annie is about to get away, but a cart runs into her and she drops the bag. A man comes by and gets the bag and runs off with it. She chases after him, but loses him when he jumps into a boat and speeds away. She gets into the CIA and winzes in pain from the cart hitting her. Annie says that it seems that she is on a losing streak lately. Auggie asks if it is because of her sister and Annie says that it isn’t. However, it is clear that it is. Auggie tells Annie that Joan wants to see her in the office first before anything else.

Annie gets into the office and she says that Annie did a good job and says that they got the Intel from another source. Annie is confused that Joan didn’t berate her. Auggie tells her to follow Joan’s advice that she gave and go home and rest up. Annie says that she finally has the “safe house” ready. Annie puts in a wall safe and puts her passports and everything inside. Danielle calls and asks if Annie can get her stuff sooner then later. She says that she wants to rent out the guest house soon. Meanwhile, Jai goes up to Cam, an old friend. He asks to be deposed to talk to the investigation committee. He says that his boss thinks that it is toxic and says that he wants to get rid of it. However, Jai says that he can name names. Annie goes walking around and comes up to a restaurant. She sits down and the Head Chef, Zavier Etxarte offers to have her stay later. She accepts and he gets out an alcoholic drink and teaches Annie of his culture. They toast.

The next morning, Annie wakes up at Zavier’s place with no pants on. Zavier comes in and tells her that he has to get to work, but she can stay as long as she would like. She asks what they did and he says that they didn’t do anything and that he was going to take her home, but she was very clear that he wasn’t allowed to see where she lived. Annie gets into work and Joan tells Annie that Zavier is actually a person of interest in a Spanish Terrorist plot and that Gorka, Zavier’s brother is the real threat and that Annie is going to be close with Zavier. Meanwhile, Henry Wilcox comes up to Jai and tells him that he knows of the fact that she is trying to get himself deposed. He says that he is not going to be hanging around while his country needs him. Henry says that he is not getting in good graces with anyone when he does that. Later, Annie goes over to Zavier’s and asks him to teach her how he made the eggs yesterday. He helps her and they get “comfortable” with one another. He hears a noise and says that he forgot something. Annie follows and finds that Gorka is there and they are unpacking wine. Gorka introduces himself as a friend. Zavier tells Annie that they will catch up another time. Annie goes out and tells the other agents that Gorka is not in a different country anymore.

The next morning, Auggie calls Annie and she tells him that she needs a bottle opener mostly. He says that Gorka took off to case the Embassy and she asks if Gorka has a bag. Auggie says that there is no bag. Annie tells Auggie that she is going to Zavier’s apartment to see what is inside the bag. He tries to forbid it, but Annie goes anyways. She convinces the doorman that she forgot her ring and he lets her in. She finds the dufflebag that Gorka had and goes through it. She zips it back up as Gorka comes in. He leaves and the doorman asks what is going on. Annie asks if they have anything on Gorka and he says that the Vice Council of the Spanish Embassy and he refused to hear Gorka’s appeal. Annie goes into Joan’s office and suggests that she read in Zavier. She declines her request and says that it is too soon. Annie argues with her and Joan reminds her who she is on the level of command. Jai comes into work and a DNI agent comes up and says that they would like to talk to him and tells him that they know about the deposition.

Annie gets into Zavier’s restaurant and he is covered in blood. He says that he was butchering meat. Annie comes strait out and tells him that she needs to know where Gorka is. She tells him that she can’t tell who she is or where she is from, but she needs Gorka. Zavier says that Gorka served his time and that they need to leave him alone. Annie gets a call from Auggie and says that they found traces of a bomb and Annie remembers the wine. She asks if they found any labels and Auggie says that they did. Annie runs inside and asks Zavier where the wine bottles are. She pulls one out and reveals that it is a bomb. The clock has 10 seconds left and Annie only has time to get Zavier and herself out of there before it blows up. They make it and Zavier runs off. Afterward, Auggie says that they have to find Zavier and they are spinning it as a gas leak. Annie feels bad that the restaurant was blown up. Auggie gives her a bottle opener as a gift. She says that she is going to her safe house now.

Cam goes up to Jai and asks why he is a no-show to the deposition. He says that someone leaked that he was going to be deposed and says that the DNI dragged him into a meeting and says that he tried to call. Cam tells that he knows that Jai is lying, but doesn’t know why. Annie is walking in the street when Groka comes up behind and puts her into a car. They speed off and Gorka says that the plan has to change. He says that he knows that Annie is a CIA agent and that she is their hostage. Annie says that Zavier was inside the restaurant and she tells him that no one died. He says that the restaurant was the target and says that Zavier stopped being his brother. A car comes up next to Gorka and hits them. It is Zavier and he manages to crash the car and drag Gorka out and start beating him. Annie manages to kick the guard’s head through a window. Annie tells Zavier to stop just in time to stop him from killing Gorka.

At the CIA, Jai packs up his things and leaves the DPD and moves into the Office of Special Projects. He is the new Director of the division. Henry comes in and says that Jai is a smart man because he is going to be reporting directly with the DNI. Henry says that he pulled all the strings to get him the position. Henry says that Jai says that he has a conscience, but he gives it up for a good room. However, Jai says that he needed to see how far he was willing to go. Later, Annie gets her things out of Danielle’s guest house and Danielle comes in. Annie apologizes to her and Danielle tells her that she packed a box of things that she really is going to need. Danielle tells Annie to take her time with the other boxes because she is not in a hurry to rent it because it is hard to find the right person. Annie gets home to her “safe house” and cracks open a beer. The episode ends.
