Episode Quotes

Morgan: This guy sits here and watches these people for days just waiting for them to commit a sin.
Garcia: Yeah, but Reid's completely innocent.
Morgan: But if you dig deep enough on any of us...we all have our sins, including Reid.

JJ: We think that Tobias Hankel may have murdered his father.
Man: Good for him.

Morgan: There's something weird going on here.
Farraday: You think?

JJ: I keep thinking that the one thing we need to solve this case is, well, Reid.

Gideon: (through the webcam at the latest crime scene) Reid, if you're watching...you are not responsible for this. Do you understand? He's perverting God to justify murder. You are stronger than him. He can not break you.

Gideon: Reid's brilliant. He'll figure out how to survive.
Hotch: You know, I always take advantage of Reid for his brain but I never teach him how to deal with things emotionally.
Gideon: Lead by example.
Hotch: And what example is that?
Gideon: (conceding Hotch's point) He'll make it.

Gideon: (about the murder video) Just remove it once he sends it!
Garcia: It's the Internet, sir. Once something's out there you can never take it back.
Gideon: The entire history of man--you can never undo anything!

Tobias: (as "Raphael") You came back to life.
Reid: I was given CPR.

Episode Goofs

When Reid receives the beating at the hands of "Charles," both his shirt sleeves are rolled down, as they would be under normal circumstances. However, when Reid encounters the persona of "Tobias" for the first time, his right sleeve is rolled up---much like it would be after "Tobias" injects him with the narcotic. Considering that Reid's hands are bound in handcuffs to the wooden chair he's sitting in, it's unlikely that he rolled up the sleeve himself.

Episode References

While we (and the rest of the team) learned during the Garner case that Reid's mother Diana was a paranoid schizophrenic (The Fisher King Pts. 1 & 2), in this episode we learn that Reid has been responsible for his mother's care since he was about eight years old. When he turned eighteen, his mother's condition had worsened to the point that Reid could not take care of her by himself anymore, and he had her committed to the sanitarium---something he has felt guilty about ever since and has quietly mentioned in passing (The Fisher King, Pt. 2).
