The Questions of Life is the television component of the CURIOSITY project, first announced in September 2009. The television series is a multiyear project engaging the foremost experts in academia and the preeminent producers of nonfiction content to answer the fundamental questions and underlying mysteries of our time. Twelve hour-long episodes-each addressing a different question-will premiere per season, over the course of five years. The first season will premiere on Discovery Channel in February 2011 on Sundays at 8:00 PM. The series also will feature a global presence, eventually airing across Discovery networks in over 170 countries around the world.

The show was very well done and very entertaining. Hawking should have qualified is comment about not needing gods like those concocted by the major religions (the intervening kind). Instead, detractors will slide over the deistic kind in an attempt to save face. You saw exactly that if you watched the pitiful panel discussion. The theologian telling Hawking he needed to have some humility was simply precious, as he sat there and proclaimed to know distinct attributes of his imaginary friend...a supposedly more complex entity than a black hole. I don't see how a scientist can say there is no creator when they still can't understand the smallest part of the universe. When you can fully explain the atom then maybe you can begin to explain something as big as the universe. I know how gravity works, i can explain how the atoms work and how the planets stay in their orbits and I believe in God. Steven Hawking is trying to put God under the confines of OUR phisical laws but if God created the universe he would have to have created the laws for it and therfore be above those laws, even time itself. A being outside of time is not confined by it like we are, and it would be hard to explain Him when all we know is that time moves forward. If you want to know how the atoms work I could tell you but because I believe in God it would be overlooked. Read more
