Hedging Your Bets - Recap

The episode begins with Rebecca and Christopher making love in bed, Elena meanwhile is in bed reading the email, which Christopher had allegedly sent her, for breaking up with her. But it was possibly John Ross who had actually sent her the email from Christopher’s email address. She meanwhile receives a call from John Ross but doesn’t pick up. JR then tells John Ross that Bobby thinks he is selling Southfork to Del Sol Conservancy, but he is actually selling it to him. He also tells John Ross to get Bobby to sign the papers, as soon as possible. Later Marta assures John Ross that he is the one who will steal Southfork from JR. Christopher meanwhile tells Rebecca he doesn’t even know if his business idea will work. She then tells Christopher that their honeymoon can wait, and that he should deal with the more pressing matters at hand.

Bobby meanwhile tells his doctor that his condition is getting worse, and tells him to keep the surgery for Wednesday, as he has to inform his family first. Bobby’s wife meanwhile tells him that she knows about his ailment. The two then embrace each other with tears in their eyes. Bobby then promises Annie his wife that, he will fight his ailment with everything he has got. He also tells her about his surgery on Wednesday. He tells Annie to not reveal the news of the surgery to anyone. Tommy meanwhile meets Annie and during their talk tells her, what an amazing woman Rebecca is. Christopher meanwhile tells Bobby that he decided to not go for his honeymoon. Christopher then tells Bobby to not sell the family home just to fund Christopher’s business, as it’s a huge risk. Bobby tells him that he is selling Southfork because he doesn’t want Christopher and John Ross to go at war just like JR and he did. He then tells Christopher that he gave his word that he would sell Southfork, and hence won’t go back on it.

Annie meanwhile assures Rebecca that Christopher loves her and hence he married her, she therefore doesn’t need to worry about Elena. She then hands Rebecca a book of family recipes handed down generations. Mitch meanwhile tells John Ross that he wants 2 million dollars to keep his mouth shut and not tell Bobby or JR that, he is planning to screw both of them over. He wants the money before the Cattle Baron’s Ball that is to be held soon. Elena meanwhile meets John Ross’s mother so she can help her get some funding from a bank on whose board she is. Elena plans to do some oil exploration and needs funding for it. John Ross’s mother tells her to forget the bank, she instead offers to loan her the money, as she feels Elena has the potential to make it big. She also tells Elena that, if she hadn’t met JR she too probably could have been like Elena. JR’s wife also asks Elena to be her date for the Cattle Baron’s Ball.

Bobby meanwhile is amazed to see JR at the ball. JR thanks Bobby for visiting him all those times. Bobby then introduces Marta Del Sol to JR. JR then tells Bobby that, John Ross has told him everything. JR surprises Bobby by telling him, that their mother left the ranch to Bobby and he can do as he sees fit, with it. After Bobby and Annie have left, JR asks Marta why her father hasn’t called him yet. She makes an excuse and tells him that her father will call JR by Tuesday. JR then meets his wife and tells him that, she is still the prettiest girl at the ball. John Ross meanwhile meets Elena and tells her that they make a great team. Elena then tells John Ross that’s eh is looking into by some oil leases, as she feels they might still be active. He then reassures her that, he did not send the email.

She then tells him that they can be professionally involved, but personally she feels they should take a break. Elena then tells him how his mother loaned her the money for the oil leases. John Ross meanwhile tells Mitch to keep his mouth shut, as soon as he sees JR heading towards Mitch. JR then asks Mitch why there is a hold up with the paperwork. Mitch in turn tells him that contracts are complicated, hence the delay. JR then tells Mitch “if this deal comes to a sticky end, I am holding you responsible”. Marta and John Ross meanwhile are busy making out passionately. John Ross in the middle of it asks Marta for $100000 that, he needs urgently. Marta then covertly puts some powder in a glass, pours some alcohol in it and serves it to John Ross. John Ross and Marta then once again begin making out, and Marta makes sure that the whole thing gets recorded. Bobby and Annie meanwhile proceed for Bobby’s surgery.

Bobby assures a distraught Annie that he will be alright. She then tells him that he is giving up the fight and that is why he wants to sell Southfork. She then asks Bobby to tell Christopher that he has cancer, so that Christopher can help him. John Ross meanwhile wakes up in Marta’s room with a hangover. Marta then hands over $100000 to John Ross in cash. Christopher meanwhile tells Elena to help him, as one of her thesis that she had written earlier, might just be able to help him extract Methane from the seabed, safely. He tells her that he wants to prove to his father that, he can make it without Bobby having to sell Southfork to help him out. That is the main reason he did not go for his honeymoon. Elena agrees to help him out, and lets him into her house. Tommy sees this from a distance. Tommy later tells Rebecca that Annie offered him a job on the ranch.

She then tells Tommy that everything seems to be right on track. She then asks Tommy “what the point of all this is”. Tommy tells her that they spent the last two years of their lives working on this job, and there is a ton of money to be made here. He then tells her to keep her eye on the ball and to not get too comfortable being Mrs. Ewing. He also tells Rebecca that he has got his eye on her. John Ross meanwhile hires a detective to dig up dirt on Mitch, as he wants to teach Mitch a lesson for blackmailing him. John Ross also tells the detective to find out who was it that sent that email to Elena, as it wasn’t he who sent it. JR is meanwhile shown entering a villa in Mexico. Inside he meets Carlos Del Sol, who is his old acquaintance. He then talks to Carlos about the deal he made with his daughter Marta. Carlos is surprised to hear this, and tells JR that he isn’t aware of any deal with his daughter.

JR then tells Carlos about the deal. Carlos in order to clarify things calls Marta in, and much to JR’s horror, he is shocked to see that the Marta standing in front of him is someone else. JR then apologizes to Carlos and tells him he has made a huge mistake. He then tells the real Marta that, he has to introduce her to John Ross, his son. “He is a chip of the old block” JR tells Marta. The episode ends at this point.
