Season 12, Episode 7 - Recap

Now that Kerri-Anne Kennerley & Carmelo Pizzino are out of the competition, it is down to Johnny Ruffo & Luda Kroitor, Danielle Spencer & Damian Whitewood, Zoe Cramond & Aric Yegudkin, Jessica Watson & Damien Samuel, Brian Mannix & Melanie Hooper and Brendan Fevola & Jessica Raffa. Tonight is the Team Dances and Damien Lee is performing on stage too. Daniel MacPherson and Mel B come out and welcome the stars.

Danielle Spencer & Damian Whitewood are first up. They get into rehearsals and they work on their dance. Danielle says that they are going to have to get aggressive and she wants to make sure that it is a perfect performance. Dancing the Paso Doble, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Josh says that was a spectacular opening number and says that the story of it was good. However, this didn’t make him want to jump out of his seat. Helen says that was a winning performance. Todd says that they are the King and Queen of the competition and says that it was precise except for the feet from time to time. However, it was fantastic. They get their scores: Todd with a 9, Helen with a 10 and Josh with a 9. Total score of 28/30.

Brian Mannix & Melanie Hooper are next. They get into rehearsals and Melanie convinces Brian that they are going to do a great job. He says that this is going to be the same. Dancing the Viennese Waltz, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Todd says that there is something about him and says that he is so cute. He says that he makes up for the lack of technique. Josh says that the routine took a little bit to get going. He says that he needs to piece everything together for the Grand Final. He laughs. Helen says that Melanie is doing something right with Brian. She says that he is a genuine character. They get their scores: Todd with a 6, Helen with a 7 and Josh with an 8. Total score of 21/30.

Zoe Cramond & Aric Yegudkin are up next. They get into rehearsals and they get the routine down quick and Aric takes Zoe on a picnic. Zoe says that the duck comparison with the dance helps her. Dancing the Quickstep, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Helen says that Aric is a cheeky little devil. She says that there was nothing wrong about the dance. Todd says that from the beginning it was amazing. Josh says that was fresh and exciting. He says that she dazzled them. They get their scores: Todd with a 10, Helen with a 10 and Josh with a 10. Total score of 30/30. Highest score of the night!

Up next are Brendan Fevola & Jessica Raffa. They get into rehearsals and Jessica pulls out metronome. He gets annoyed with it. He goes to a GQ shoot and then gets back to work getting the routine down. Dancing the Samba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Josh says that he is confident with the lifts. However, the Samba made him look like a boy needing to go to the bathroom. Helen says that she was hoping that he would be on time and he was. She says that she was impressed with him. Technique was appalling, but it was better. Todd says that it was sloppy and loose. They get their scores: Todd with a 5, Helen with a 6 and Josh with a 7. Total score of 18/30.

Jessica Watson & Damien Samuel are up next. They get into rehearsals and Jessica gets a medal for her time at sea. Damien puts up tape to help her and she has fun with the tape too. Jessica wants to be able to get this dance down perfectly. Dancing the Salsa, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Todd says that she is fearless, but the linking was not good and the timing sucked. He says that she is a sweet thing, but it wasn’t good. Josh says that surprisingly better then he thought. He says that the lifts were great, but he is not fooled. He says that she needs to a gimmick that will keep her in. Helen says that the guts of the dance is the important thing and says that she has to work harder. They get their scores: Todd with a 4, Helen with a 4 and Josh with a 5. Total score of 13/30.

Johnny Ruffo & Luda Kroitor are up last before the Team Dance. They get into rehearsals and Johnny has trouble with his romantic side. He says that he is though. They go to Johnny’s video shoot and he says that it is going to be good when it comes out. Dancing the Viennese Waltz, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Helen says that he needs to characterize the dance more. If he does this, it will be great. Todd says that he froze for the first time out there and says that he has to smile. Josh says that he has to be human and says that he can be smoother with the lifts. They get their scores: Todd with a 7, Helen with a 7 and Josh with a 7. Total score of 21/30.

They take a moment and the Pros dance to a medley of Bee-Gees hits to honor the music of Robin Gibbs. They come out and show what it means to be a professional in dance.

Damien Lee comes out and sings a George Harrison classic. He shows that he deserves the success that he has had and continues to get. Daniel MacPherson talks to him and Damien says that he remembers when he was on the show last year. He talks about his new album and it is a combination of songs that he wrote and covers.

The Team dances are up now and the guys have fun in the rehearsals and Brian says that they are going out-entertain the girls. They come out and Johnny, Brian and Brendan come out with their partners and dance. They go to the judges and Helen says that the lift at the end with the 3 girls was amazing. Josh says that he likes how it feels in the room and says that it was brilliant. Helen says that Brendan was in time and Johnny was more like himself. Todd says that it was well done. They get their scores: Todd with a 9, Helen with a 9 and Josh with a 10. Total score of 28/30.

The girls are up now and they get into rehearsals. Their professionals are there and Jessica is missing because she had a 2 year reunion. They get their moves down have fun. They go to the judges and Todd says that the boys went for entertainment, but the girls gave them technique. He says that he loved it. Josh says that it was fun and energetic and says that they were technically stronger. Helen says that it was great. They get their scores: Todd with a 9, Helen with a 9 and Josh with a 9. Total score of 27/30. The boys win the Team Dances.

The results are in and the 4 couples definitely safe for the Top 5 are: Zoe Cramond & Aric Yegudkin, Brian Mannix & Melanie Hooper, Danielle Spencer & Damian Whitewood and Johnny Ruffo & Luda Kroitor.

This leaves Jessica Watson & Damien Samuel and Brendan Fevola & Jessica Raffa for the final vote of the night. The couple leaving the competition is Jessica Watson & Damien Samuel. Jessica says that she enjoyed this and says that tonight was great and tells Damien thanks for the patience. That is it for the results! Next week is the Instant Dance!
