Season 12, Episode 9 - Recap

With the elimination of Brian Mannix & Melanie Hooper, Johnny Ruffo & Luda Kroitor, Danielle Spencer & Damian Whitewood, Zoe Cramond & Aric Yegudkin and Brendan Fevola & Jessica Raffa are in it as it is one week away from the Finale. Daniel MacPherson and Mel B. come out and say that the stars are going to have to perform two dances. They say that they are going to have Train and Dame Edna Everage are going to be there.

Johnny Ruffo & Luda Kroitor are first up for the night. They get into rehearsals and they get their two dances to combine. Luda says that he has to make sure that he is looser in his footwork. He says that the competition may be getting tough, but he is going to win. Dancing the Jive, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Josh says that this was perfect and says that the routine was great. Helen says that she was expecting more kicks and wanted more. Todd says that it was great. He says that it was light and rushed, but it was still a solid performance. They get their scores: Todd with a 8, Helen with a 8 and Josh with a 9. Total score of 25/30.

Zoe Cramond & Aric Yegudkin are up next. They get into rehearsals and get their two dances. Zoe’s father is going to be in the audience and says that she wants to be perfect. She dedicates the dance to her father. Dancing the Argentine Tango, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Todd says that it was gorgeous and has every reason to be proud. He says that she over danced a little. Josh says that the routine was subtle and says that he loved the leg action and says that she spoils them. Helen says that the music was perfect and says that she kept the essence of the dance and it is normal. They get their scores: Todd with a 9, Helen with a 9 and Josh with an 8. Total score of 26/30.

Up next are Brendan Fevola & Jessica Raffa. They get into the rehearsals and he is not too sure about the moves this week. Jessica invites Alex Fevola, the DWTS Winner of 2010 and Brendan says that he is going to get the mirror-ball. Dancing the Salsa, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Helen says that he started off really well and then it went haywire. Todd says that something happened and says that he felt unfocused. Josh says that he has to give Brendan credit and says that they need to come out great for the other dance. They get their scores: Todd with a 5, Helen with a 5 and Josh with a 5. Total score of 15/30.

Danielle Spencer & Damian Whitewood are last up for the first round. They get into rehearsals and they get the moves down. Danielle’s son comes in and shows them a few dance moves of his own. Dancing the Argentine Tango, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Josh says that he loved the lifts, but there was something missing in the dance. Helen says that the dance was perfect, but there were some issues. Todd says that they expect perfection and that is why they are harsh. He says that it was not the best, but good. They get their scores: Todd with a 9, Helen with a 9 and Josh with a 9. Total score of 27/30.

Dame Edna Everage comes out and gives a little comedy to the stage and have fun with Daniel and Mel B. She shows that she is truly and icon.

Johnny Ruffo & Luda Kroitor come out and perform their Argentine Tango. They go to the judges and Todd says that Luda looks faulty because of Johnny was too far from her. Josh says that he loved the intensity. However, the transitions were a little rough. Helen says that he needed to step up in the dance and says that he needed to support Luda a bit more. They get their scores: Todd with a 7, Helen with a 8 and Josh with a 7. Total score of 22/30 for a Grand Total of 47/60.

Zoe Cramond & Aric Yegudkin come out for their Rumba. They go to the judges and Helen says that putting her acting skills has been good and says that it was smooth and says that she loved it. Todd says that Aric’s choreography was sophisticated and says that he loved it. Josh says that there is something exquisite about her. They get their scores: Todd with a 10, Helen with a 10 and Josh with a 10. Total score of 30/30 for a Grand Total of 56/60.

Brendan Fevola & Jessica Raffa come out and dance their Argentine Tango. They go to the judges and Josh says that was really good and the posture was amazing. Helen says that he was lovely in the dance and he created a beautiful picture. Todd says that centered him in the dance and says that it was great. They get their scores: Todd with a 9, Helen with a 9 and Josh with a 9. Total score of 27/30 with a Grand Total of 42/60.

Train performs on stage and shows that they have it to warrant the successes that they have received and continues to receive. Afterward, they talk about the new album and they tell Daniel that they love coming to Australia.

Danielle Spencer & Damian Whitewood come out and dance the Salsa. They go to the judges and Todd says that they deserve to be in the Final and says that they have shown great class. He says that he loved the fun that they had. Josh says that she is wonderful, but says that her feet were a little but clunky. Helen says that they mean business and says that it is going to be heartbreak tonight. They get their scores: Todd with a 10, Helen with a 10 and Josh with a 9. Total score of 29/30 with a Grand Total of 56/60.

The results are in and the three couples going through to the Finals are: Zoe Cramond & Aric Yegudkin, Johnny Ruffo & Luda Kroitor and Danielle Spencer & Damian Whitewood! This means that Brendan Fevola & Jessica Raffa are going home. They come up to Daniel and Mel B. and Brendan says that he had a fun time. He thanks Jessica for putting up with him. He says that he had fun on the show and says that everyone is amazing. He says that this has opened people’s eyes and he is a little mad that he didn’t get in to be the second in his family to get a mirror-ball. Next week, the Finals!
