Season 11, Episode 5 - Recap

With Michael Bolton and Chelsie out last week, the scene opens Tom and Brooke kick off this by Audrina Patridge and Tony, Kyle Massey and Lacey, Rick Fox and Cheryl, Margaret Chou and Louis, Brandy and Maks, Bristol Pailin and Mark, Kurt Warner and Anna, Florence Henderson and Corky, The Situation and Karina, and Jennifer Grey and Derek are left in the competition this week and tonight is Story Night and the routines are going to be more elaborate with different choreography and style.

First up are Jennifer Grey & Derek and they are going to dance Samba. During rehearsal they have a little fun and they are going to show advanced moves and Jennifer struggles with learning the moves. They enter the stage with their story of teacher and student and they dance great as always. Len tells that he enjoys story night and they did a very cleaver job with the choreography and there was only one mistake. Bruno tells that Jennifer is the sexy of Cougar Town and says that she is great. Carrie Ann tells that they were slightly out of sync. It was good even despite the mistake and Derek shows that they can do it perfect. The scores are: Carrie Anne with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30.

Next up is Florence Henderson and Corky and they are going to waltz. The music is “The Sound of Music”. Florence tells that she was in that when she was performing and this dance is going to be serious. Florence talks about the loss of her husband and how the dance brings back memories. They enter the stage and they romance the audience. Bruno tells that there was an emotional connection and tells that the waltz needs to be continue and not stop. Carrie Ann tells that Florence’s husband is definitely watching. She tells that she needs to push her boundaries a little more. Len tells that the story that they told beautifully. He tells that there is no technique in her footwork but it will come. The scores are: Carrie Ann with a 7, Len with a 6 and Bruno with a 7. Total score of 20/30.

After the break, Kurt Warner and Anna are going to Foxtrot across the stage. Kurt and Anna practice and he is nervous going back into the ballroom and he is trying to be delicate. So he has a tea party with his girls. They enter the stage and they nicely make it through the dance. Carrie Ann tells that their chemistry is fantastic and she loved it. Len tells that his arms musicality was lacking but everything else is great. Bruno tells that he picked up that his expression was horrible and that he almost dropped Anna. The scores are: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno 7. Total score of 23/30.

Margaret Chou and Louis are up now and they are going to Samba. This week it is a party dance and it is Copa Cabana. Margaret has little time to rehearse because she is on tour. She and Louis have a little issue with the dancing but they fix it. They enter the stage and they have a lot of fun on the stage. Len tells that it started off nicely but it was not in sync and didn’t get the story. Bruno tells that she lost her way and the footwork was off and it is hard. Carrie Ann tells that she loved the story, but she lost her footwork. Carrie Ann tells that “Dancing with the Stars” has gone gay and Bruno adds in “Really?” The scores are Carrie Ann with a 6, Len with a 6 and Bruno with a 6. Total score of 18/30.

After the break, Audriana Patridge and Tony dance with the waltz for a dramatic story that they have. Audrina and Tony practice and Audrina is going to have to show her emotions to make it work and Audrina tells that she wants the audience to get the chills. They enter and they do a fantastic job. Bruno tells that every move was connected and it was a hit. Carrie Ann tells that it was beautifully accurate and that the competition just got interested. Len tells that it was the most touching dance of the night. The scores are: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with a 9 and Bruno 9 with an 26/30, the first of the season. They show the clip of the waxing of Tony.

The next couple is Bristol Palin and Mark and they are going to have the Foxtrot to impress the judges and audience. Bristol and Mark are practicing and Bristol tells that she is not going to be good with the acting part and she struggles with getting into characters. They dance and they look good out on the dance floor, but it is not that good. Carrie Ann tells that the movement was good, but it wasn’t that good in the connection. Len tells that he didn’t like the dance and too contemporary. Bruno tells that the execution of the dance was good, but her expression is not enough and Bruno demonstates and freaks out Len and Carrie. The scores are: Carrie Ann with a 6, Len with a 6 and Bruno with a 7. Total score of 19/30.

Brandy and Maksim are up next and they are going to move on from their chemistry and Brandy gives Maks the gift of Silence. They are going to Samba to the Bodyguard and they are still having the chemistry problem. They enter the stage after a short break and they have some .Len tells that there was good action and Maks wasn’t protective and he didn’t like the training video. However, Bruno loved it and she did an amazing job. Carrie Ann and she doesn’t condone the method of teaching, but it worked and she was on fire. Max defends his method of teaching. The scores are Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8 . Total score of 24/30.

Next is Kyle Massey and Lacey and they are going to do the waltz. Lacey gets the song and it is from “The Eagles”. They get a new song and they practice and it is harder then Kyle thought and that he needs to bring sophistication to the dance floor. They elegantly dance around and have some fun in the process. Bruno tells that they have the likability is up and the arms are getting better. Carrie Ann tells that she giggles when he dances and she felt the passion. Len tells that acting level is high, performing is high, but the footwork is not that great. The scores are: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with a 7 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 23/30.

“The Situation” and Karina are up now and musicality was hard to get and this week they are going to Foxtrot in a space theme and “The Situation” gets into the dance rehearsal and he is trying to get the steps. He tells that he needs to get the steps right and wants to show improvement. They enter the stage after the break and they dance great and have a lot of fun. Carrie Ann tells that it is BOOM BOOM WOW! The musicality is a little bit better. Len did not like it at all and doesn’t want to be nasty and that it was bizarre. Bruno tells that it was strange, but very entertaining. The scores are: Carrie Ann with a 7, Len with a 6 and Bruno with a 7. Total score of 20/30.

Closing the night are Rick Fox and Cheryl after the break and they are going to Samba through the dance floor. The story for the Samba is going to be relatable and the rehearsals are hard and Rick seems to think that Cheryl is simplifying the dance to make it work for him and Cheryl tells for him to trust her. They dance on the dance floor perfectly and have a lot of fun doing it. At the send, he rips open his shirt. Len tells that he went up on the scale and did a great job. Bruno tells that he did an amazing job. Carrie Ann tells that it was REALLY good. The scores are: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total Score of 24/30. The dancers have danced and they all wait to see who is going to stay and who is not.
