Season 11, Episode 11 - Recap

Week 6 kicks off and Audrina Patridge and Tony, Kyle Massey and Lacey, Rick Fox and Cheryl, Brandy and Maks, Bristol Pailin and Mark, Kurt Warner and Anna and Jennifer Grey and Derek are left in the competition. It is Rock Week and the set has changed to make sure that everyone has the character set for the evening.

“Dancing with the Stars” reveals the best acts of the seasons and at number 10 are Shawn Johnson & Mark from Season 8 dance with a Freestyle to “Do Your Thing”. Number 9 goes to Donny Osmond & Kym from Season 9 with an Argentine Tango to “Tango A Pugliese”. Number 8 goes to Helio Castroneves & Julianne from Season 5 with a Quickstep to “Hey Pachuco” with a little kiss at the end that Julianne wasn’t expecting. Next at Number 7, Apolo Ohno & Julianne from Season 4 with a Freestyle to “Bust A Move”.

After a little break the rest of the Top 10 dances continue with number 6 going to Joanna Krupa & Derek from Season 9 with a Futuristic Paso to “Living on Video” and when Joanna got out of sync . Number 5 goes to Mel B & Maksim from Season 5 with Paso Doble to “Free Your Mind”. Number 4 is Nicole Scherzinger & Derek from Season 10 with 50’s Paso to “Spanish Guitar”and the dance was picked at random. Number 3 goes to Apolo Ohno & Julianne from Season 4 with the Samba to “I like to Move It”. Number 2 goes to Gilles Marini and Cheryl from Season 8 with the Argentine Tango to “Assassin’s Tango”. The Number One spot goes to Drew Lachey and Cheryl from Season 2 with a Freestyle to “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy”.

The night finally kicks off with the competition with Audrina & Tony. They are going to be doing the Paso Doble and to get her into the fierce part of everything, Tony takes her to a mixed martial arts class and they have fun punching a dummy with Bruno’s face pasted on.
They enter the stage and dance to “Another on Bites the Dust” and have a good start. Len tells that Audrina is getting on his nerves because she has the potential, but it always lacks character. Bruno tells that Len is right because she has to get to the next stage. Carrie Ann tells that she agrees with the men, but Audrina has improved a lot. She just lacks the intention of the dance. The scores are: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30.

Next up is Kyle & Lacey. They are going to be doing the Tango. Kyle tells that he has to make sure that it is perfect and that it needs to be polished. Rehearsals don’t go perfect, so Kyle takes it home with him and practices dancing with his brother Kris. Dancing to “If I had You”, they did an amazing job with the delivery and all that. Bruno tells that that was amazing and it was great. Carrie Ann tells that it was amazing to see him move like that and that she loves that he puts a little bit of himself into each dance. Len tells that he is not going sack him, but he is going to back him. He tells that he enjoys the balance of things and it was an improvement. The scores are: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with a 7 and Bruno with an 8.Total score of 23/30.

Jennifer & Derek are up next and Paso Doble. Derek wants to be able to get to the top again and pushes Jennifer to her limits at rehearsal. Dancing to “So What” they show that they have a lot of technical errors with their dance moves. Carrie Ann tells that she needed to calm down and that she was a little rough. Len tells that it had the attitude but the control was lost. Bruno tells that she has the passion, but it was hard and tells that she needed to tone it down. The scores are: Carrie Ann with a 6, Len with a 7 and Bruno with a 7. Total score of 20/30 Their lowest score of the competition.

Up to dance are Rick Fox and Cheryl and they are going to be doing the Tango. They get in the rehearsal room and Rick tells that he needs to be able to get it right and Cheryl tells that he is analyzing the dances too much and that he needs to relax. Dancing to “You Got Me Going” they execute their moves great and Len tells that he did an excellent job. Bruno tells that he was like a Mohican and just needed more romance. Carrie Ann tells that he balanced it really well. The scores are: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30.

Bristol & Mark are next up to dance and they are going to Tango with a little air guitar in the mix. As they dance across the stage, Bristol gets into it. Bruno tells that it was amazing in performance and technique. Carrie Ann tells that she did a fantastic job and Len tells that it was a huge improvement from last week. The scores are: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with a 7 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 23/30.

Next to dance are Kurt & Anna and they have the Paso Doble to do. At rehearsal, Brett Michaels comes in to give Kurt some Rock Star advice. He listens and they get the outfit down for him. Dancing to “Final Countdown”, Kurt and Anna are moving around but it is hard to see. Carrie Ann tells that the dance didn’t have enough character and didn’t come together well. Len tells that it was awkward watching it. Bruno tells that it was like Jackie Chan with his big hands. The scores are: Carrie Ann with a 6, Len with a 6 and Bruno with a 6. Total score of 18/30.

The final dance is Brandy & Maks and they are top of the leaderboard as of right now. They have a moment of frustration with their dance steps and Brandy is frustrated and she has a moment of release. Maks brings her in and the Tango is more intimate with them. They enter the dance stage and they dance to “In Need a Hero” and it is intense. Len tells that Maks is his hero and gets the dance of the night. Bruno tells that Brandy has got it and it was amazing. Carrie Ann tells that it was amazing and intense. However, there were tiny missteps. The scores are: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 26/30, the highest score of the night.

The show goes to the Dance Marathon and they show the clips from the rehearsal and Derek doesn’t think Jennifer is going to be able to handle it and others have their doubts and their concerns about the fact that they are not going to be able to get it. The dance marathon begins and the couples come out and they show that they want it. Kurt & Anna are the first out and add to their total ending with 22/30 points. Bristol & Mark are out adding to their total with 28/30 points. Rick & Cheryl get out adding to their total with 30/30 points. Kyle & Lacy are out and add to their total with 30/30 points. Audrina & Tony get out adding to their total with 32/30 points. The remaining two and Jennifer & Derek get out with a total of 29/30 for the night. This makes Brandy and Maks the winners of the dance marathon with a total of 36/30 points for the night. Len tells that it was awesome to watch, Bruno tells that it was really great. Carrie Ann tells that they all had a lot of fun.
