Season 13, Episode 17 - Recap
It is the Semi-Finals and with Nancy Grace & Tristan gone from the competition, Rob Kardashian & Cheryl, Hope Solo & Maksim, J.R. Martinez & Karina and Ricki Lake & Derek are the final 4 couples who are going to dance to get to the Finals. They welcome the dancers to the dance floor and say that they are going to have to dance three times this round of Dancing with the Stars.
They get started right away and first up are Hope Solo and Maks. She says that she is at a point now where they can come out with fire. She has issues with her shoulder and invites her doctor to give her a shot in her shoulder. She says that the pressure is on. Dancing the Paso Doble, they come out and they dance well. They go to the judges and Len says that he liked the attitude and aggression, but the dance lost control. Bruno says that it was good, but it lacked artistry. Carrie Ann says that the character of the dance was great, but thought that the hold was off this time. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 7, Len with a 7 and Bruno with a 7. Total score of 21/30.
J.R. Martinez & Karina are next. They get into rehearsals and Karina says that they need to step it up. They learn the moves and J.R. tries to do a move and twists his ankle. He says that all he can do is rest it. Dancing the Paso Doble, they come out and do their best. They go to the judges and Bruno says that he could feel the thrill and the passion. However, the posture wasn’t all the way. Carrie says that he did a good job with having the passion, but the poster suffered because of the injury. Len says that the dance didn’t suit him and says that there was no posture. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with a 7 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 23/30.
Next up are Rob Kardashian & Cheryl. They get into rehearsals, and Cheryl tells him that they have to get him to move it. He says that he can’t hold anything back. Dancing the Samba, they come out and they do a fantastic job. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that it was Booty-Licious and it was fluid and fantastic. Len says that it was amazing. Bruno says that once he started shaking it, it was great. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 28/30.
Last up for the first round is Ricki Lake and Derek. They get into rehearsals and she tells Derek that she wants to have fun with the dances this week. She is self-conscious of her weight. Derek tells her that it is fine and that she won’t hurt him. She tells him that she let loose a bit. Dancing the Samba, they come out and they are amazing! They go to the judges and Len says that it was fabulous and says that she is definitely in the Finals. Bruno says that it was brilliant. Carrie Ann says that it was great and amazing. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 30/30.
“The Troupe” and some of the pros come out and dance to the Argentine Tango and show what it means to be a pro.
First up for the second round is Hope & Maks. She tells her story and how it was like growing up. She gets emotional when talking about her father. The video shows her determination and struggles. Dancing the Argentine Tango, they come out and they do better. They go to the judges and Len says that it was far better then the Paso Doble and says that it was well done. Bruno says that it was so much better and says that it was good. Carrie Ann says that it was better, but felt that the grace wasn’t there. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30. Grand total of 45/60.
Next up is J.R & Karina. They show a video of J.R. talking about his life and how he joined the army at 19 years old. J.R. says that he wanted to die after his accident. But, his mother told him to be the best he can. Actors tell about his character. Dancing the Argentine Tango, they come out and do a good job. They go to the judges and Bruno says that he was strong and fearless and says that it was great. Carrie Ann says that the way he could do the lifts and says that he commanded it. Len says that he was transported to Argentina and says that it was great. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 27/30. Grand total of 50/60.
Rob & Cheryl are next. In Rob’s video, he talks about his youth and family life. Kris talks about how his sisters teased him and dressed him up like a girl. The video shows that Rob changed when his father was diagnosed with Cancer. He says that he had nothing to lose by signing up for the show. Dancing the Argentine Tango, they come out and they are great again. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that was good strong dancing and power. Len says that Rob is finishing strong. Bruno says that he is a leading man and looks great. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 27/30. Grand total of 55/60.
Ricki & Derek are last up in the second round and she tells about her horrible raising and how she got the role of Tracey on Hairspray. She says that she wanted to have fun and when she got her own talk show, she had fun. After the show, it was hard for her. But she showed her determination. Dancing the Argentine Tango, they come out and do a great job. They go to the judges and Len says that it was a lovely contrast and says that it was really good. Bruno says that it was spot on and fearless. Carrie says that she had the pop in the dance and it was great. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 29/30. Grand total of 59/60.
The final round is underway and the Cha-Cha Relay and Ricki is first, Hope is second, J.R. is third and Rob is last. They get into rehearsals and they need to get the technique down. Maks is worried about the dance and Hope says that she is ready for it. The dancers get into it and whoever gets the 4 in the dance is going to go home. They dancers come out and show the audience a good time. They go to the judges and Len says that the whole night was great. Bruno says that all dancers were amazing. Carrie Ann says that it was great to see them one after another. The scores are 4th place is Hope & Maks. 3rd place is J.R. and Karina. 2nd place is Ricki & Derek and 1st place goes to Rob & Cheryl. That is it for the performances. Who has made it into the finals?
