Season 14, Episode 4 - Recap

With the elimination of Martina & Tony, Maria Menounos & Derek Hough, Jack Wagner & Anna Trebunskaya, Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd, Gavin DeGraw & Karina Smirnoff, Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower, Sherri Shepherd & Val Chmerkovskiy, Melissa Gilbert & Maksim Chmerkovskiy, William Levy & Cheryl Burke, Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas, Gladys Knight & Tristian MacManus, and Jaleel White & Kym Johnson are left to compete for the mirror-ball trophy. Tonight they are telling a story through their dance routines. Dancing to a dance of their choice, they have to show that they have what it takes. They start off the night right away.

First up are Jack & Anna. They get into rehearsals and Jack says that he remembers when he met his daughter Kerry for the first time when she found him at one of his concerts. Dancing the Samba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says that he saw a total different side to him and says that he loved the routine and is his best dance. Bruno says that he got the party started and tonight his timing was much better. Carrie Ann says that he uplifted the room and she says that she wants to see more. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30.

Maria & Derek are next. They get into rehearsals and Maria says that her most memorable moment was when she was 10-years-old and she remembers that her parents took care of her and there is nothing better. Dancing the Rumba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that he “felt” it. He says that it was fluid, and everything was done perfect. Carrie Ann says that was amazing and says that it was breathtaking. Len says that it was great in technique was great. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 27/30.

Gladys & Tristian perform next. They get into rehearsals and Gladys says that she remembers 1957 was the most memorable because it was the Pip’s first tour. It changed her life. Dancing the Foxtrot, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that her frame was elegant and she is soulful, rich and fun. Len says that he knows that it takes a lot of work. The frame was better. Bruno says that she was gorgeous out there. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30.

Roshan & Chelsie are next. They get into rehearsals and Roshon says that he remembers when he first saw Michael Jackson on stage in 1996. Travis Payne, Michael Jackson’s former choreographer. Dancing the Samba, they come out and dance. The go to the judges and Len says that he loved the flare and says that he would have liked to see more Samba, but loved that he gave it 100%. Bruno says that he loved it and says that he thought that he was watching Michael himself. Carrie Ann says that she loved the Michael Jackson parts, but it through off his timing a bit. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 25/30.

Gavin & Karina are up now. They get to rehearsing and Gavin says that his most memorable moment was when he saw Billy Joel and that is what encouraged him to get into music. Dancing the Rumba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that he can move his hips and it was great to see the improvement. He says that he needs to work on the turns, but it was great. Carrie Ann says that her heart was fluttering and says that it was sexy and says that it was tender. Len says that he saw good hips and more musicality. He likes the progression. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30.

Next are Katherine & Mark. They get into rehearsals and Katherine’s memory was 1996 when they found out that her father had lung cancer and passed away. Dancing the Waltz, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann is emotional and says that it was magic. Len says that it was good, but not enough ballroom and holds. Bruno says that was sensational. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 29/30. The highest score of the night!

Sherrie & Val are up next. They get into rehearsals and Sherrie says that she remembers when her son was born and he is her miracle baby. She is hard on herself and Val brings in Jeffery, the miracle baby. Dancing the Rumba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says that the dance was heartfelt and says that she did a great job with it. Bruno says that it was really well expressed and held her own. Carrie Ann says that she is true to herself and the lines were great. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30.

Melissa & Maks are next. They get into the rehearsal room and Melissa says that she remembers when she was touring and she broke her back. She cries and says that she is happy to be there. Dancing the Jive, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that opening sequence was excellent and the end was great too. Carrie Ann says that she let go and it was great. Len says that it was well done. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30.

Jaleel & Kym are up next. They get into the rehearsals and he remembers when he played Erkel’s alter-ego, Stephan Rekell on Family Matters. Dancing the Rumba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that he is back in the game and says that he has the natural feel. Len says that it was a confident performance and he forgot to be loose. Bruno says that it was good, but lacked fluidity. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 25/30.

Next up is William & Cheryl. He remembers when he came to America. He says that they got lucky to be able to come over. Dancing the Salsa, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says that he put a whole new meaning to Free Willie and says that he conquered the Salsa. Bruno tells William to come closer and says that was amazing. Carrie Ann says that she wants to go to Cuba and says that it was ridiculously hot. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 28/30.

Last of the night is Donald & Peta. They get into rehearsals and Donald says that he most memorable year was when he best friend died in his arms. Dancing the Rumba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that the passion was memorizing. Len says that it was warm and emotional. Bruno says that he pushed himself and he was always in control. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 26/30. That’s it for the dancing. Results tomorrow!
