Week 1: Cha-Cha-Cha or Foxtrot - Recap

The All-Stars Season of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ begin and Joey Fatone & Kym Johnson, Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough, Sabrina Bryan & Louis Van Amstel, Helio Castroneves & Chelsie Hightower, Pamela Anderson & Tristan MacManus, Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani, Apolo Anton Ohno & Karina Smirnoff, Drew Lachey & Anna Trebunskaya, Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas, Gilles Marini & Peta Murgatroyd, Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy, Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke come out on stage.

Joey Fatone & Kym Johnson are up first and they reunite. In rehearsal, they get down their routine and have fun.Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. Afterward, judges Len Goodman says that the judges are going to be a little tougher and says that they are put in a half a point. He tells Joey that he loves watching him dance and says that it was great. Bruno Tonioli says that he always brings it on and gives it large and says that he needs to work on a few things. Carrie Ann Inaba says that Joey is her favorite showman. She says that was a great way to start. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 6.5, Len with a 7 and Bruno with a 7. Total score of 20.5.

Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough are up next. They get into rehearsal and they get into the routine and Shawn shows her skills as a gymnast. Dancing the Foxtrot, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that she is a precious princess and says that she put so much in it. He says that the performance was great. Carrie Ann says that is what All-Star Season is all about and they have the right to be creative. Len says that she did it well, but the dance didn’t feel or look like a Foxtrot all the way through. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with a 6.5 and Bruno with a 7.5. Total score of 22/30.

Sabrina Bryan & Louis Van Amstel are next up. They get into rehearsals she says that she wants to be in this as long as she can. They say that she needs to be a front runner every week. Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that it is good to have her favorite fire cracker again and says that she kicked that dance’s booty. However, she sometimes over-dances and needs to work on it. Len says that he liked it and needs to push it. Bruno says that she missed a few passes, but it was amazing. They get their score: Carrie Ann with a 7.5, Len with a 7.5 and Bruno with a 7.5. Total score of 22.5/30

Helio Castroneves & Chelsie Hightower are next. They get into rehearsals and he says that he has a daughter now and he says that it would be great to win another Mirror-Ball. Dancing the Foxtrot, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says that it was a joy to watch. He just needs to watch his footwork. Bruno says that they did good things, but messed up a little. Carrie says that there needs to be a little bit more body contact. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 7, Len with a 7.5 and Bruno with a 7. Total score of 21.5/30.

Pamela Anderson & Tristan MacManus are next. They get into rehearsals and Pamela says that she is excited to be there again and tells Tristian that he is going to have to contain her. They have fun getting the routine down. Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that there wasn’t enough work for him to praise her. Carrie Ann says that she was living the drama, but a bit uncomfortable. Len says that it was like a kid on a bike without any training wheels. However, she will learn again. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 5.5, Len with a 5.5 and Bruno with a 6. Total score of 17/30.

Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani are up next. They get into rehearsal and she says that she has done a lot since last time. Tony is happy that he is partnered with her again. She is determined. Dancing the Foxtrot, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that she has the most exquisite lines, but need more body contact. Len says that it was a little theatrical for him, but she had great lines. Bruno says that she needed to have the frame stronger, but overall it was great. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 7, Len with a 7 and Bruno with a 7. Total score of 21/30.

Apolo Anton Ohno & Karina Smirnoff are next. They get into rehearsals and he is determined to win another Mirror-Ball and realizes that he is a little rusty. Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says that it wasn’t a gold medal performance and needed a little more hip action. However, he sold it. Bruno says that his extensions were great. His footing was off a bit, but it was great. Carrie Ann says that he has become sexier and says that it was really nice. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 7.5, Len with a 7 and Bruno with a 7.5. Total score of 22/30.

Gilles Marini & Peta Murgatroyd are up next. They get into rehearsals and Gilles likes to dance and it shows. Peta is happy that she has him. Dancing the Foxtrot, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that it was finesse and technically so good. Carrie says that she missed him and says that was gorgeous. Len says that was sophisticated and great. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with an 8, Len with an 8 and Bruno with an 8. Total score of 24/30.

Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas are next up. They get into the rehearsals and Mark tells her that she needs to have sex appeal throughout. She says that she is going to perform this time around. Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that was the most improved and says that her confidence is back. She needs a bit more strength. Len says that she has great legs and says that her arms need work. Bruno says that she is fresh and was giving it. She needs to maintain the focus and power. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 6.5, Len with a 6.5 and Bruno with a 6.5. Total score of 19.5/30.

Drew Lachey & Anna Trebunskaya are up next. They get into rehearsal and Anna is tough on him. She believes that he can win again. Dancing the Foxtrot, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says that it was a little too hard and strange. However, he still enjoyed it. Bruno says that it looked like they have been dancing with each other for a while. Carrie Ann says that his shoulders were great, but they have to firm, not tight. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 7, Len with a 7 and Bruno with a 7.5. Total score of 21.5/30.

Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy are next up. They get into rehearsals and Val enjoys her sexiness and is a little distracted from her body. He likes it. Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that was hotter than ever and says that she was a stunner. Carrie Ann says that they have insane chemistry and says that she needs to straiten her legs a bit. Len says that her dance was great, but a little bit anxious. He says that he loved it though. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 7, Len with a 7 and Bruno with a 7.5. Total score of 21.5/30.

Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy are next. They get into rehearsal and Kirstie and Maks have interesting chemistry and Kirstie says that she is better than last time. Dancing the Foxtrot, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that she has the most sensual movements when she dances, but she didn’t turn it up. Len says that she needs to lift up her rib cage and it needed refining. Bruno says that he loved the looks that she gave, but the frame needs work. Kirstie kisses Tom and congrats him for his Emmy. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 6.5, Len with a 6 and Bruno with a 6.5. Total score of 19/30.

Last up are Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke. They get into rehearsals and he feels lucky to have Cheryl again and says that he is trying to impress right out the gate. Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says that it was the best. Bruno says that was the essence of dance. Carrie Ann says that he was born to dance. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 8, Len with a 8.5 and Bruno with a 8. Total score of 24.5/30. The highest score of the night! That is it for the dances. Now it is up to America!
