Week 6: Country week - Recap

It is Country Week and Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough, Sabrina Bryan & Louis Van Amstel, Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani, Apolo Anton Ohno & Karina Smirnoff, Gilles Marini & Peta Murgatroyd, Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy, Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke are performing tonight. They kick off the night with a performance by Little Big Town.

Gilles Marini & Peta Murgatroyd are up first and they get into rehersals. They don’t know anything about Cowboys and have to mix in a lot. They get little time to practice and have to make it work. Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says that he came out and gave 100%. He says that it was well done. Bruno says that he sold it no matter what and says that it was full on. The footwork wasn’t as clean, but it was great. Carrie Ann ties herself to the chair and says that it was good, but he has to watch his hands. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 27.5/30. Sabrina Bryan & Louis Van Amstel are up next and they get into rehearsals. They talk and Sabrina hopes that she can make it better. This week, the song choice is emotional for her. Louis says that she has to be herself. Louis works with her on showing her real emotion. Dancing the Rumba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that was wonderful and says that it was stunning. Carrie Ann gives her a hug and Bruno hugs Len. Carrie Ann says that she was dancing from her heart. Len says that the music was so soft and says that the dance was strong. It was fantastic. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 30/30. Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy are up next and they get into the rehearsal room. They talk about how bad they scored and how they are going to have to bounce back. They add some extra practice and get frustrated with not learning the moves. Dancing the Tango, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that was a nice comeback and says that it was great and exciting. Len says that she kept it under control and it was great. Bruno says that it was intense and says that it was great and says that she is back in the game, but needs to watch the top line. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 27/30. Total from last week 78.5/90.

Up next are Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani. They get into rehearsals and she has issues with her neck. She gets to getting to working on getting to know the routine. Toni calls the doctor and is told that she has limited mobility. Dancing the Viennese Waltz, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len gives them a standing ovation and says that it was fabulous. Bruno says that it was like watching Brigadoon and says that it was weightless. Carrie Ann says that she has the most beautiful lines and says that she is not dancing out enough. Bruno and Carrie Ann argue and they break up the fight. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9.5, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 29.5/30. Total from last week 86/90.

Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough are up next. They get into rehearsal and she tells Derek that it was good last week. However, when they get into the routine, Shawn’s knee is hurting. She hurt it when messing around in the group dance. She struggles and worries that this could take her out like it did in the Olympics. Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that she was sexy and incredible. Carrie Ann says that it was a blend of Country and Fusion. However, the solo was a little stiff. Len says that it was fantastic and says that there are too many gimmiks though. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9.5, Len with a 8.5 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 28/30. Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy are next. They get into the rehearsal room and they are happy. Kirstie says that the other dancers all look happy. They work on the routine and Kirstie tries to balance it all with interviews and other things. She wants to win this. Dancing the Rumba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says that she is the queen of sexy and says that she got lost in the music and it was great. Len says that it was clean and clear. He needs more hip action though. Bruno says that it was an expression of the real woman and say that it was elegant. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9.5, Len with a 8.5 and Bruno with a 9.5. Total score of 27.5/30. Total from last week 80/90.

Apolo Anton Ohno & Karina Smirnoff are next. They get into rehearsal and they reveal of the fight they had backstage and hence why they were not in sync. They work on the routine and says that it is important that the chemistry is close. Dancing the Viennese Waltz, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says that was light and says that it was great. He says that he loved it. Bruno says that he is a leading man and says that it was weightless tonight. Carrie Ann says that dance without emotion is not great, but they showed it all and it was amazing. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 30/30. Total from last week 86.5/90.

Last up for the Individual dances is Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke. They get into rehearsals and Emmitt says that he is not too sure about the solo part of the dance. He says that he may be tired, but puts mind over matter. Dancing the Foxtrot, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says that he loves him because his acting was brilliant. Overall it was a country fun fair. Carrie Ann says that they were out of sync, but redeemed himself on the solo. Len says that it was not technically good, but entertaining. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 8.5, Len with a 8.5 and Bruno with a 9.5. Total score of 26.5/30. Total from last week 82.5/90.

Big & Rich and Cowboy Troy perform while the Group Dance is underway. They show the rehearsal video and how they have their routine choreographed. Whoever wins will be able to gain extra points from the judges. Dancing the Freestyle, they come out and dance with Big & Rich and Cowboy Troy singing. They go to the judges and Len says that was fabulous and says that the whole thing was fun. Bruno says that it was a fun country extravaganza and said that they were all great. Carrie Ann says that Kelly & Val stood out and they decide that the two extra points are going to Kirstie & Maks. That is it for performances!
