Season 16, Episode 10 - Recap

The Finals are here and Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough, Zendaya Coleman & Val Chmerkovskiy, Alexandra Raisman & Mark Ballas and Jacoby Jones & Karina Smirnoff battle it out for the Mirror-Ball trophy. There are three rounds: Judges pick, Cha-Cha Relay and Freestyle.

First up for the night are Jacoby Jone & Karina Smirnoff. They get into rehearsals and Len comes in and helps Jacoby with his footwork. He gets the moves down. Dancing the Jive, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says there was improvement and says he lost it on occasions, but says it was lovely. Bruno says he has the energy, but says he missed a beat or two. Carrie Ann says he brings the swagger, but she agrees. She says the feet were sharper though. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 27/30.

Next up are Alexandra Raisman & Mark Ballas. They get into rehearsals and Bruno is there to help her get her moves down. He asks Mark to put a Samba roll, one of the hardest moves, in the dance. Dancing the Samba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says she is a tease and says it was cleaner and slicker than ever. He says she got the Samba Roll down. Carrie Ann says she has it all and says she saw improvement. Len says overall it was great. He says she is on the way up. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 28/30.

Up next are Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough. They get into rehearsals and they work on getting the moves down. Len comes in and works on their hold. Dancing the Quick Step, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says the dance was exciting and says it was like a stamp on a letter. Bruno says Kellie is the Southern Belle of the ball and says it was great. He says it was fantastic. Carrie Ann says there was an improvement in their body contact and it was there. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 30/30.

Last up for the first round are Zendaya Coleman & Val Chmerkovskiy. They get into rehearsals and Carrie Ann comes in and teaches Zendaya how to move better in heels. She says Zendaya needs to make sure it is smooth. Dancing the Samba, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann says she was fantastic. Len says he hasn’t seen dancing so good for a while. Bruno says she keeps getting better. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 30/30.

The Cha-Cha relay has arrived. The couple who does the best gets 5 points and the last couple gets 2 points. They work on their routines in rehearsals. Dancing the Cha-Cha-Cha, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says they all are winners and says it was well done. Bruno says Kellie and Zendaya worked every angle. Alexandra was great and Jacoby worked hard to keep up with the girls. Carrie Ann says they are amazing and says they are all strong. They get their scores: 4th place goes to Jacoby & Karina, 3rd place goes to Alexandra & Mark, 2nd place goes to Kellie & Derek and 1st place goes to Zendaya & Val.

The Supersized Freestyle round arrives. First up are Jacoby Jones & Karina Smirnoff. In rehearsals, producer, Peter Hebri, pays them a visit. He says they get to go crazy. Karina says they are going to bring New Orleans to the dance floor. Jacoby sees it is a little chaotic. Dancing Freestyle, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says he got the party started and says it was well done. Bruno says it was like watching a Marti Gras parade. He lost timing a bit though. Carrie Ann says it was unique, but she agrees with Bruno and says it outshined him. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 9, Len with a 9 and Bruno with a 9. Total score of 27/30. Grand total of 56 points.

Up next are Alexandra Raisman & Mark Ballas. They meet with the producer and Mark says he wants a platform. They want to showcase Alexandra’s strength. They see how high the platform is and Mark gets a little nervous. Dancing Freestyle, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Bruno says it was futuristic and exotic. He loved they synched the pole dancing. Carrie Ann says the pole dancing was amazing. Len says he loved the concept and dubs her Alexandra the Great. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 30/30. Grand total of 61 points.

Next up are Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough. They get into rehearsals and they are stripping the production down and making the dance harder. Kellie is nervous. Dancing the Freestyle, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Carrie Ann is in tears and hugs Kellie. She says Kellie beared her soul and it was beautiful. Len says they drew everyone into that performance and he gives them a standing ovation. Bruno says it was a work of art and they reached the nation tonight. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 30/30. Grand total of 64 points.

Last up for the night are Zendaya Coleman & Val Chmerkovskiy. They get into rehearsals and Zendaya tells Val she had a great time so far. They have kids dance with them. Dancing Freestyle, they come out and dance. They go to the judges and Len says there were so many parts, but it all came together. Bruno says he loves she gives everything a unique illumination and says it was simply irresistible. Carrie Ann says she showed why she is such a great dancer. They get their scores: Carrie Ann with a 10, Len with a 10 and Bruno with a 10. Total score of 30/30. Grand total of 65 points. That is it for the performances!
