A short 5-minute unaired pilot episode. In this pilot, Daria borrows a pencil from Kevin and he thinks she's trying to hit on him. Daria, in turn, decides to have fun with this and starts to hit on him. Seeing this, Kevin breaks up with his girlfriend, and Daria, after learning of the breakup, blows Kevin off.
During their first day at Lawndale High, Daria and Quinn are required to take psychological exams. Quinn does fine, but Daria, disgusted with having to take the exam, answers the questions in her typical smart-alec remarks. However, her remarks lead the teacher to think Daria has esteem problems and recommends she take a special class. Meanwhile, Quinn instantly fits right in with the popular kids but Daria is outcasted until she meets Jane in her esteem class.
Daria helps Brittany in art class and in return, Brittany invites Daria to her party. Daria is reluctant to go, but changes her mind when she realizes it will be a prime opportunity to embarrass Quinn.
Lawndale High launches a fundraiser to raise money for a student coffee house. Daria and Jane fail at selling candy bars and to make up for the points she missed, Daria has to perform at the grand opening of the cafe. However, her choice of material to perform doesn't go over well.
In their college prep class, Quinn and Daria get an assignment to visit the college of their choice. Seeing this as an opportunity to get the girls interested in their alma mater, Jake and Helen take them to Middleton College. But while there, things don't go as planned when Quinn winds up "keg queen" at a frat party and Daria writes term papers for students for a small fee.
Daria's business class takes a field trip to the Mall of the Millennium, which Daria is not looking forward to. However, when Quinn and the Fashion Club ditch school on the same day and go to the mall, Daria makes the most of the trip.
Modeling scouts come to Lawndale to teach a modeling class and offering a scholarship to one student. Each of the students, except Daria and Jane, become very hopeful that they will be the one student that gets to be a model.
In science class, Daria is paired up with Kevin to do a project. Knowing that Kevin will be no help, she has him watch TV while she completes the project. Meanwhile, Brittany, Kevin's girlfriend, is paired up with Upchuck and is later blackmails her into being his slave. With Kevin spending a lot of time at the Morgendorffers, Brittany becomes suspicious that both Quinn and Daria are trying to take Kevin away from her.
Daria helps out Quinn by babysitting for her while Quinn goes on a date. The kids have been brainwashed by the parents into being the perfect children, so Daria has Jane come over to help undo the brainwashing.
Brooke, a girl hoping to be in the Fashion Club, gets a nose job and the other girls call Quinn shallow when she says it's "cute". But when the other Fashion Club members get a nose job too, Quinn decides that she needs one as well. However, the doctor convinces Quinn that she needs 6000 dollars worth of other surgery as well and Daria has to help Quinn see that she's perfect without all of the surgery.
Daria and Quinn both say out past their curfew so Helen and Jake hold Family Court, sentencing them each to a month of being grounded. But when Daria uses the month to drive her parents insane, Helen and Jake begin to regret the punishment.
Daria and Jane, along with Jane's brother Trent, and his friend Jesse, drive to Alternapalooza. During their trip, Daria becomes attracted to Trent, making them both uncomfortable the entire time. The Fashion Club decide to go to, and even dress "alternative" for the occasion, but go shopping when they pass an outlet mall. Meanwhile, with the girls out of town, Helen and Jake try to "spice up their marriage".
The Morgendorffers go on a camping trip but when Jake begins to obsess about his relationship with his father, the trip doesn't go as well as they had planned. Things get even worse when Jake, Helen and Quinn eat psychotropic berries that make them go insane. Meanwhile, Jane and Trent attend their family reunion.
A goal post is named after Tommy Sherman, a former Lawndale High football star, and he comes back to Lawndale for the ceremony. While there, he is a jerk to everyone and dubs Daria "the misery chick". Daria and Jane joke about how they wished he was dead, but their joke comes true when the goal post falls on Tommy. Thinking she knows a lot about death, the other students come to Daria for advice, and Jane avoids Daria when she begins to feel bad about what happened.
Mrs. Dafoe, the art teacher, wants Jane to submit a poster for a contest. The poster turns out nice, but Daria writes a poem to go along with the poster that doesn't go over well at school. The principle insists that the girls change the poem, but Daria and Jane resist.
Classes at Lawndale go on a field trip to a paintball center. Daria and Jane decide to ditch and go to a great white shark exhibit instead. However, the exhibit isn't what the two expect.
Quinn becomes the new school brain when a paper that she wrote is read aloud in her English class. Quinn thinks that she'll be outcasted from her popular group since she's now a 'brain' but instead, she becomes a popular brain. Daria, on the other hand, is outcasted now that Quinn has taken over the 'brain' position.
The Morgendorffers attend a wedding for Helen's niece. Helen makes sure that Quinn and Daria are bridesmaids, which Daria isn't looking forward to. At the wedding, Helen is constantly at odds with Rita, her sister. Daria meets her aunt Amy and finds that she has a lot in common with her.
The Yeagers, Helen and Jake's old friends, visit causing the families to argue over who has made the best life for themselves. Quinn becomes interested in their son, and he tells Quinn about the Yeager's past. Meanwhile, Daria, Jane, Jesse, and Trent go to the flea market to sell Trent's records.
Mr. O'Neill gives his class an assignment to make short films. Daria and Jane pair up to make a film about a day in the life of Quinn in order to prove that she's shallow. However, after shooting, Daria begins to see that Quinn may not be as shallow as she originally thought.
Daria joins the yearbook and meets Ted, a fellow student whose parents have greatly sheltered his life. At yearbook, Daria decides to help Ted come out of the dark, but along the way she develops some unexpected feelings for him. However, as Ted becomes more exposed to the real world, he's accepted by the popular crowd, much to Daria's chagrin.
Jodie and Daria are chosen to visit a school for gifted students. Helen and Jake, along with Jodie's parents, escort the two to the school. However, Helen and Jake don't get along too well with Jodie's conservative parents. At the school, Daria and Jodie see how stuck up the students are, leading Jodie to tell them off, then storm off, which impresses Daria. Meanwhile, Quinn annoys all three Fashion Club members and goes to Jane's house so she won't be alone.
While at a Mystik Spiral concert, Daria breaks out with a rash that covers her face. Embarrassed by the thought that Trent might see her with the rash, Daria hides in the bathroom only to run into Brittany. There, the two make a deal with Brittany promising not to tell anyone where she is. After being sent to the hospital, and after a series of 'deals', Lawndale finds out that Daria is in the hospital with a brain condition.
A rainstorm in Lawndale causes the roof at Lawndale High to cave in. To raise the money needed to fix it, Ms. Li organizes a "mandatory voluntary" medieval fair, which will feature a production of "The Canterbury Tales". Quinn wins the lead role, opposite Kevin, and a jealous Brittany tries to keep Kevin away from the fair. At the fair, Daria and Jane take a Ferris wheel ride with Stacy, who's upset over being dumped.
Ms. Morris, the PE teacher, accuses Jane of being a slacker. In order to prove otherwise, Jane tries out for the track team, and makes the team much to Daria's surprise. With Jane at practice all the time, Daria spends more and more time alone, leading Helen to bribe Quinn into spending time with Daria.
Trent asks Daria for help in picking out Jane's birthday present. Trent manages to talk Daria into getting her naval pierced, which Jane later teases her unmercifully about. Meanwhile, Helen and Quinn participate in a mother-daughter fashion show.
Mr. O'Neill assigns his class to read a moral fiction book, but Daria has already read all the books on the list. So instead, Mr. O'Neill assigns Daria to write a moral fiction story. After many failed attempts, Daria finally comes up with a story after some advice from Helen.
In an episode full of singing and dancing, Lawndale is informed that there is a hurricane headed toward the city, but no one takes the warning seriously. To escape a pep rally, Daria and Jane head up to the roof of the school, but end up waiting out the storm with Kevin and Brittany in a shed on the roof. Meanwhile, Jake and Trent head out into the storm to find the girls.
Daria hits a dog during a driving lesson so Helen suggests that Daria get contact lenses. Daria agrees, but doesn't want to wear the contacts or go back to glasses so she ends up going to school without glasses or contacts and bumps into things all day.
Ms. Li orders asks everyone volunteer during Volunteer Week. Daria tries to read to senior citizens, but the elderly don't like Daria's unenthusiastic voice. However, they do like Kevin and Brittany, so they read to the senior citizens instead. The Fashion Club decides to donate clothes to the homeless, but are too choosy about what to give away and what to save.
In a fantasy episode, Daria meets two guys, Cupid and a leprechaun, that tell her that Christmas, Halloween, and Guy Fawkes Day have left Holiday Island to start a band in Lawndale and want her to help them find the missing holidays. She doesn't believe it, but once she's convinced, she sets out to find the runaway holidays.
Sandi has Quinn organize the school dance, but Quinn fails when Sandi turns the Fashion Club against her. Quinn then has Jane do it for her, and much to Quinn's surprise, Jane's Jackson Pollock themed dance is a big hit, so Quinn takes credit for it.
Val, the editor of "Val" magazine, visits Lawndale to spend a day with Daria after Daria wins a "Spend a Day With Val" essay contest. After some urging from Jane, Daria goes with Val to New York City, but ends up telling Val how she really feels about her.
After taking aptitude tests at school, Daria and Quinn both get jobs at the mall, Daria at the nut stand and Quinn at the pet store, but neither work out well.
Jane's siblings and father move back home. With the entire family living under one roof, Jane and Trent feel too crowded so they stay at Daria's house. This becomes awkward when Daria realizes that her crush is going to be sleeping over at her house.
Jake has a mild heart attack, leaving Daria to deal with knowing that her father could die and to deal with her grandmother who comes to visit while Jake is recovering. Meanwhile, Daria also has to deal with two annoying DJs at Lawndale High.
Daria gets her driver's license, and the first thing she has to do is drive across town to bail out Jane and Trent's band when they got a violation. However, Quinn comes along and ends up giving their bail money away to a hitchhiker and Daria and Quinn have to figure out how to get back enough money to pay bail.
Daria and Jane start to think that there are aliens in Lawndale after strange things, including Trent writing cheery songs, government agents visiting Lawndale, and Mr. DeMartino being arrested, start to happen. However, people begin to think Daria and Jane are atomic communists when they misinterpret some things that Mr. O'Neill says.
Ms. Li has the school raise money by organizing a mandatory casino cruise. On the old, beat up boat, Mr. DeMartino struggles with his gambling addiction, Quinn gets stood up and Daria and Jane try to sleep. Things take a turn for the worst when the boat runs into a garbage scow and Titanic-like situations occur.
Daria and Jane have to complete a computer project for school and have Trent come up with music for the project. But Trent procrastinates, setting Daria and Jane behind. Meanwhile, Jane starts to date Tom, and Daria feels threatened until Tom talks to her about it.
In Mrs. Bennett's class, Daria is assigned to do a report on applying for a loan and buying a car. Due to Daria still having trouble accepting Jane's relationship with Tom, Daria partners up with Jodie instead of Jane. Working with Jodie makes Daria see that she's too inflexible and has alienated her few friends because of it, and Jane forgives Daria for how she acted.
Mr. O'Neill wants his class to experience "The Call of the Wild", so he organizes a class camping trip. Things don't go well when a blizzard hits Lawndale and everyone gets trapped in a cabin. Meanwhile, Helen and Jake also go to the woods, but they go to work on their communication and intimacy as a couple.
Kevin hurts his knee in a motorcycle accident and can't play football, which leads Brittany to break up with him and the team to go on a losing streak. Kevin only feels sorry for himself until Daria suggests that he talk to younger kids about how dangerous motorcycles can be. This helps Kevin feel better about himself, but as the team continues to lose, Kevin has to decide whether to help the team or continue to talk to the kids.
The football team all get perfect scores on the history test, and Mr. DeMartino suspects that Kevin stole the answers to the test. While holding the class until someone confesses, Daria jokes about killing Kevin for ruining her perfect record, but later has a dream in which Kevin was killed. In the dream Daria is the main suspect in Kevin's murder, and she, with the help of "Upchuck's Angels", have to prove otherwise.
Mr. O'Neill assigns his class to attempt something that they know they'll fail at. For the assignment, Daria tries to get Quinn grounded so she can't go to the fashion show; Jane tries to be a conformist and fit in; Brittany tries to be unpopular; Kevin tries to be bad at sports; Jodie tries to get her parents to let her take a summer off; and Mack tries to teach Kevin about the government. However, the assignment has some consequences when Kevin gets kicked off the football team for not playing well, Brittany is ignored by the cheerleaders, who replace Brittany with Jane, but Daria, Jodie, and Mack all fail, which results in them passing the assignment.
Daria goes out to buy toilet paper and at the same time, the Lawndale Homecoming Parade is taking place. On her way home, she runs into Tad Gupty, who's lost, so Daria tries to help him find his parents. During the search, Daria runs into Tom, who's looking for Jane, and the two end up spending time together despite Daria's resentment towards him.
Daria goes with Jake to a businessmen's convention when Quinn invites the Fashion Club to their house for a sleepover. Daria and Jake have a tough time finding things in common. Meanwhile, the Fashion Club gives Helen a makeover and Quinn and Sandi are constantly at odds.
Helen takes the family to a spa when her law firm tells her to go in order for them to decide whether or not she's made out to be made partner. At the spa, psychologists evaluate each one of the family members, and much to everyone's surprise, Daria is the only one the psychologists think is well-rounded. Meanwhile, Jane sets up a "Jane Cam" in her bedroom and Tom inadvertently shows his naked self to the world.
Several characters travel to the bulk-discount store over the course of the day. Jane and Daria go to buy gummy bears and shoe laces. Trent, Jesse, and Tom go to buy headlamp, scented candles, and so Tom can find Jane. Mr. DeMartino and Mrs. Johanson go for the free samples. The Fashion Club go to buy beauty supplies, but are disgusted with the quality the store has to offer. Kevin and Brittany go to buy barbeque sauce, but forget what they came to buy.
The Fashion Club is forced to take the bus when Jake's car won't start and he can't pick them up from the mall. But when the Fashion Club gets lost, Jake has Trent go with him, Daria, and Jane to find the lost girls. While searching, various characters tell three separate ghost stories set in different decades.
Quinn becomes convinced that she has a guardian angel when she is almost killed by a falling chandelier and doesn't eat a salad dressing that gives everyone else food poisoning. But Quinn's good luck comes to a halt at Brittany's party when she spills juice and breaks Brittany's gift. Daria then has to convince Quinn that her guardian angel didn't leave her.
The Morgendorffers have to say in a hotel when Jake starts a fire in the kitchen of their home. At the hotel, Jake and Helen become over-relaxed and Quinn attracts a bellhop named Bobby, who ends up being a stalker. Meanwhile, Daria stays with Jane and ends up getting along with Tom, making Jane jealous.
Jane wants to dye her hair to look like tiger stripes and has Daria help her. Jane begins to ask Daria about why she's spending time with Tom and then accuses Daria of ruining her hair after the dye job turns out bad. Later, Daria kisses Tom and after feeling guilty, she tells Jane, who's furious. However, Jane sees how good of a couple Tom and Daria make so they call a truce.
School's out and the students of Lawndale are looking forward to their summer vacation. Kevin and Brittany get jobs as lifeguards, Mack drives an ice cream truck, Jodie spends all of her time volunteering, and the Fashion Club, including Quinn, hire a tutor, David. But things aren't as good for Daria and Jane. After a fight over Tom, the best friends split and head their separate ways. Daria heads to Mr. O'Neill's summer camp after her mother volunteers her, while Jane heads off to an artists' colony. At the It's OK To Cry Corral, Mr. O'Neill's camp, Daria tries to help Link, a 12 year-old very similar to herself, and while helping the pre-teen Daria has to face her own feelings for Tom, all making for a long summer.
A clip filled episode that looks back at the past 5 seasons. The episode also features a preview of Is It College Yet?, a movie based on the show.
Facing low funding, Ms. Li takes money from a soda company in exchange for advertising at the high school. Daria objects to the advertising, but no one else feels the same way. However, Ms. Li can't meet the quota the company set and is forced to get out of the deal.
Daria feels like Tom is taking her for granted as they near their 6 month anniversary. Daria talks to Helen about how she feels, but Helen doesn't give her too much help. Tom admits to Daria that he isn't the romantic type and was only romantic with Jane to save their relationship. Meanwhile, Jake gets hired at an internet start-up company. However, the other employees are younger than him and he can't understand their lingo.
Sandi gains weight after being on crutches. Since she is in violation of the Fashion Club's weight policy, Sandi resigns as president, leaving Quinn to head the club. However, Quinn resigns out of respect for Sandi and the club can't function without either of them. Meanwhile, Daria and Quinn bet on whether or not the Fashion Club will completely fall apart and both Daria and Jane try to influence the members so they'll win the bet.
Daria and Quinn return to Camp Grizzly for a reunion. At the reunion, Quinn's old friends are similar to the Fashion Club, and Daria sees how antisocial she still is. Meanwhile, after Trent and Jane drop off Daria and Quinn, they meet an elderly storekeeper who becomes the inspiration for one of Trent's songs. Back in Lawndale, Helen and Jake clean out their garage.
Daria writes a story that she wants to get published, but only lets Jane and Tom read it. Tom encourages her to submit it, but when she does, the story gets rejected and Daria becomes discouraged. The Fashion Club set out to win a humanitarian award by donating a mirror to the school, but can't come up with the money to do so. Meanwhile, Helen worries that Daria may rush into having sex with Tom.
The teachers at Lawndale High go on strike and substitutes are hired to replace them. After one substitute is fired, Daria replaces him, which makes Quinn worry that people will find out that Daria is related to her. The secret gets out when Quinn does well on a test and the Fashion Club ask her about her real relation to Daria. Meanwhile, Jane and Trent help with the strike by making posters and writing lyrics for the campaign.
The Lane's gazebo falls apart and Lane and Trent decide to rebuild it. To earn money for the repairs, Lane sells some artwork and ends up being hired to recreate famous paintings for a gallery in town. Trent tries to hire guys to help them fix the gazebo, but he can't get the slackers he hired to do any work.
Helen wants Daria to invite Tom over for dinner, but Daria is afraid that Jake will embarrass her and Tom. Quinn sets out on a mission to find one guy to date exclusively and finally settles on Jeffy. At dinner, Jake ends up bonding with Tom and Jeffy when they all try to capture the squirrel that's been bothering Jake.
Jane starts to date Nathan, a retro guy, but Daria and Tom don't like him as well as Jane. Later, Jane sees how far Nathan takes his retro lifestyle and decides that he isn't right for her. Meanwhile, Upchuck finally attracts Stacy when he performs magic tricks at school.
Helen agrees to be the lawyer for her sister's divorce. But the two end up fighting over whom their mother favored and Jake, not being able to handle the fighting, leaves. Aunt Amy, who is very similar to Daria, is called to mediate, but is sucked into the fight as well. Daria and Quinn are affected by the fighting; leading Daria to wonder if she should be with Tom and Quinn to wonder if she and Daria will end up like their aunts have.
Helen wants Daria to apply for a scholarship and Daria reluctantly enters an essay contest. She is chosen as a finalist, but is unhappy with the business's racist and sexist practices and has to decide if she wants to drop out of the contest or not. Meanwhile, Jake buys hot dogs in bulk by mistake, but tries to make the best of his error.
Daria and Tom study alone and they both end up falling asleep in Daria's room. Tom wakes up at 4:00 AM and tries to sneak out of the house, but Jake catches him. Daria has to convince Helen that nothing happened but Quinn overhears part of their conversation and assumes that Daria had sex with Tom. The rumor gets out at school and Daria begins to wonder if they should have sex or not.
After going through a box of old stuff, some of the items trigger Daria's childhood memories. The memories, which were about her parents arguing over Daria's antisocialness, upset her. Daria then has to come to terms with her problems as a child.
With graduation looming, Lawndale High seniors scramble to make their college plans. Daria and Tom decide to apply to Bromwell while Jane gets rejected from several art colleges, making her think about life without a degree in art. But the pressures of finals, graduation, and college begin to wear on friendships, even threatening them in some cases. Meanwhile, Jodie applies to an African American college, despite her parents' disagreement; Quinn gets a part-time job; and the cheerleaders eagerly look forward to their future at Great Prairie State.
