After a typical movie night, Joey tells Dawson’s (who have been best friends since the age of 6) that she doesn’t really think if it is possible for them to share the same bed and continue a platonic relationship now that they are going into high school. But her fears are put to rest when Jen, the granddaughter of Dawson’s neighbor, moves to town and Dawson becomes infatuated with her. Pacey, Dawson’s pal starts to fall for the new English teacher and drags the entire group to a movie he knows she will be attending. It is during the movie that Joey gets bitchy with Jen, noticing that Jen is moving in on Dawson; but there relationship is patched up at the end when Dawson and Joey share some intimate information…
Joey finds out that Mrs. Leery has been cheating on her husband with her co-anchor and confronts her about it. Pacey starts to bug (and interested) Tamara with these openly public flirting styles, and Dawson casts Jen as the leading lady in his monster film (downgrading Joey’s role in the process). Meanwhile, a school dance puts everyone in a weird mood, especially when Dawson interrupt’s Jen’s date with the Quarterback.
Joey tells a white lie to a customer at the Bait Shop about being rice and in capeside on vacation, but becomes conflicted when she falls for the boy, and he falls for her. Dawson’s film class is put in charge of helping Cliff get his movie off the ground, which causes tensions for him as well, and Jen. During the filming of the final scene of Dawson’s movie instead of capturing his first kiss on camera like he planned, he catches Pacey losing his virginity.
When Dawson finds out about his mother’s affair and Joey’s knowledge of it, Dawson feels betrayed by both of them. Seeking solace he turns to Jen to talk with, but learns more than he bargained for about her own past digressions – and the true reason she moved to Capeside. Meanwhile Pacey and Tamara’s fling gets more involved and intimate
During a major hurricane Jen, Grams, Joey, and Bessie take refuge inside the large Leery house. And if tempers weren’t flaring enough between Grams and Bessie, Mitch overhears Dawson and Gail’s fight about her affair, realizing that his wife has been cheating on him; at the same time Jen tries to discuss with Dawson about her previous revelation. Meanwhile Pacey and his deputy brother take refuge in Tamara’s home, where Deputy Witter begins to suspect something is right.
While discussing his relationship with Tamara to Dawson, Pacey accidentally allows a classmate to overhear – and within minutes the rumors are flying all around school. Meanwhile, Bessie goes into labor, but is miles from the hospital and the only local ambulance is broken down. Without options she agrees to allow Grams to deliver the baby, where Joey and Jean learn some life lessons.
In an homage to ‘The Breakfast Club’ all the major characters (as well as bad girl Abby Morgan) are sentences to an 8-hour Saturday detention – supervised by the school librarian Mrs. Tringle. Abby starts trouble by suggesting a game of truth or dare that escalades into something totally different within mere minutes…
While attempting to rebuild their marriage, the tension between Mitch and Gale finally hits a breaking point. Joey, feeling pressured about school and things between her and Dawson, lets off too much steam of at a beach party and gets herself into a sticky situation, which Pacey has to save her from. Meanwhile, Jen’s old boyfriend from New York shows up in town, causing tensions between her and Dawson – especially when the guy decides to crash on Dawson’s Floor.
Hoping to get over Jen, Dawson’s agrees to Join Billy (Jen’s old boyfriend) and Pacey on a boys-only road trip, where he gets more than he bargained for when he realizes Billy’s true intentions. But the trip proves to not be a total failure when he meets a fellow film geek who helps him realize what he is really looking for in a girl. Meanwhile, when a jock says he slept with Joey, Jen helps Joey with damage control, which inadvertently makes the rumor get completely out of control.
Dawson asks a classmate out (whom he knows has a crush on him) on a double date with Jen and Cliff; but very quickly his date catches on his plot to get Jen Back. Meanwhile, in order for Pacey to pass biology, and Joey to get enough extra credit to get her A+, their teacher assigns them on a group project – where they finally bond as friends, causing Dawson some jealously.
Dawson prepares scares for his friends but Jen feels left out when he doesn't plan anything for her. A real serial killer is on the loose as Dawson holds a seance.
Dawson is starting to see Joey in a new light since she entered a beauty contest, the more interest he seems to have the more Jen regrets in breaking up with him. Pacey decides he wants to move into his own apartment so in trying to get money he enters the beauty contest himself.
Bessie forces Joey to go visit their father in prison on his birthday. Dawson accompanies Joey on the trip which opens some old wounds, but heals others. Joey and Dawson finally share their feelings together, but Joey is contemplating a chance of a lifetime: to spend a semester in France. Meanwhile, Jen struggles to keep her family together as her grandfather is rushed to the hospital.
Dawson and Joey try to figure out what to do next since they had their first kiss. Meanwhile Pacey plays a not so funny joke on a new girl. Jen deals with her grandfather's death. Mitch sees a divorce lawyer.
Dawson's is preoccupied in his relationship with Joey and forgots about Pacey's sixteenth birthday. Dawson looks at Joey's diary without her knowing. Mitch and Gale seek advice about their marriage. Jen begins hanging out with Abby. Andie's brother Jack gets a job at the Ice House.
A school economic assignment puts Dawson with Jen, Pacey with Andie and Joey by herself. Jen uses the opportunity to get closer to Dawson. Pacey misreads Andie's situation. Joey explores what life could be like as a successful career woman and accidently offends Bessie. Mitch and Gail consider an open marriage.
Joey's newfound interest in art causes a rift between her and Dawson but common ground with Jack. Tamara returns to Capeside to sell some property and runs into Pacey. Andie reveals to Dawson that she likes Pacey. Jen's friendship with Abby is threatened when a hot older guy shows interest in Jen but not Abby.
A full moon means bad luck for several residents of Capeside. Dawson comes to a realization about his parents marriage. Jen goes on a date with Vince that ends with Grams catching the two making out. Andie agrees to go out with Pacey but doesn't want him picking her up at her house. Pacey meets Andie and Jack's mother and Andie has to tell him the truth about her family. Jack kisses Joey.
At the school dance, Andie tries to play matchmaker with Jack and Jen. Dawson finds out about the kiss. Pacey hurts Andie's feelings by dancing with Kristy. Gale and Mitch tell Dawson they are separating.
The gang goes to Chris's house to study for a major test, even though not much studying gets doen at first.
Dawson gets good news about his horror movie. Joey goes on a date with Jack. Andie vows to help Pacey improve his grades in school but her mother's deteriorating condition may get in the way. Jen continues to spiral out of control.
Andie and Joey are the victim in a smear campaign by Abby when they run for class officers opposite her. Dawson catches his parents having sex on the kitchen table but is stunned to learn they are still going through with the divorce. Jen encourages Dawson to take more risks. Jack notices that Andie's mood swings are become more frequent.
Dawson precedes with his movie with Jen as his new producer. Jack spills his drink on Joey's drawing and offers to pose nude so she can redo it. Pacey and Andie consider taking things to the next level.
Mean girl Abbey finds a note at the school and it has details about a couple having sex for the first time, she then tries to figure out who they are and reveal the couple.
A father-son fishing trip (that includes Jack) shows the delicate nature of Pacey's relationship with his dad. The girls participate in Gail's report on teenagers, which brings their individual insecurities to light.
Old feelings return for Joey and for Dawson while he is making his new movie, about their relationship. Pacey finds the Xanax bottle in Andie's trash and confronts her about it.
After Jack is made to read a private poem in front of the whole class, rumors circulate about his sexual orientation. Pacey stands up to Mr. Peterson's attacks which results in his suspension.
Pacey takes matters into his own hands when Mr. Peterson becomes increasingly vindictive. Andie and Jack's father comes to town. Jack must admit the truth about his sexual orientation. Jennifer and Ty relationship comes to a stand still when they have very different views regarding Jack.
Dawson freaks out upon turning 16. Andie's therapist encourages her to be more open to new ideas which leads to her and Dawson getting drunk before the surprise party Joey has planned for Dawson. Gail and Mitch disagree over Dawson's birthday gift. Dawson tells off his parents and friends at his party.
Dawson shows his film to the new film teacher and gets her honest but harsh response. Joey crushes on a guy who turns out to be more interested in Jack. Jen encourages Grams to go on a date. Joey's dad returns after being released from prison.
Joey is apprehensive when her father returns to Capeside after being paroled and immediately starts coming up with plans to help the Ice House with new business by booking an important wedding. Dawson's is jealous that Jack is Joey's go to person for advice. Gail sets her sights on getting Mitch back. Andie nearly ruins the wedding when she knocks off the top tier of the cake. Later, Andie throws wedding crashers Jen and Abby out and they steal a bottle of liquor on their way out. The two procede to get drunk when the unthinkable happens.
Everyone is shocked by Abby's sudden death. Jen cannot stand everyone's hypocrisy when they all act like they liked Abby. Abby's mother thinks that Abby and Andie were friends and asks Andie to give a speech at the funeral. Pacey worries the Andie could have a breakdown especially after Jen blames Andie for kicking them out of the wedding. Gail tells Dawson that she got a job offer in Philadelphia. Abby's death brings up feelings for Joey about her own mother's death. Jen gives a eulogy at Abby's funeral blasting everyone and God. Grams throws Jen out over her actions. Andie returns to Abby's house to take Abby's journal before her mother can see the cruel things Abby wrote in it and Andie sees Abby's image in the mirror.
Dawson takes Joey to a nice French restaurant where they end up running into Mitch and Nicole and later Jen and Gail show up on a girls night out. Joey and Dawson take Nicole to task for her harsh critique of Dawson's movie. Jen works to put Gail and Mitch back together by playing their song and the two share a dance. Gail thinks she has received her sign about taking the job in Philadelphia but sees Mitch with Nicole again at the end of the night. Andie's mental health deteriorates as she begins seeing and talking to her dead brother, Tim. Andie locks herself in the bathroom and Pacey has to took her out before she hurts herself.
Andie's father returns to Capeside and wants to move her and Jack away so Andie can get help. Jen is at a crossroads on where to live since her parents don't want her to return to New York. Dawson turns the camera on various people in his life for his final on "Casablanca" including Joey's dad. Dawson ends up caught in a hard place when he witnesses Joey's dad returning to his old ways.
When Mr. Potter's drug dealing causes the Ice House to be attacked and burned down, Dawson has to admit to Joey that he caught her father selling drugs. Joey has to turn against her father in order to keep the rest of her family safe. Pacey's relationship with his father reaches a boiling point when Mr. Witter makes a crack out Andie's mental state. Grams asks Jen to move back in and Jen eventually agrees but with a few conditions and another house guest.
Dawson meeting a mysterious girl named, Eve, who turns out to be a stripper, on his bus ride back to Capeside from Philadelphia. Joey realizes she was wrong to blame Dawson for having to turn in her father. Pacey encourages Dawson to take his dad's boat for a spin with Eve and they end up crashing into a dock in front of Joey's new job. When Eve helps Dawson pay for some of the damages with her stripping money, Pacey comes up with the brilliant idea to host a party with the strippers and charge admission. Jen tries out for the cheerleading squad and at her tryout calls out the head cheerleader which results in Jen being named head cheerleader. Dawson asks Pacey to look out for Joey when Dawson rejects her.
Dawson is asked to make a video about the high school football team. Mitch convinces Jack to join the football team after seeing him catch several passes. The new freshmen quarterback has a crush on Jen. Jack's dad think it is best if Jack stays living with Grams and Jen. Joey accompanies Pacey to pick up Andie. Pacey notes that Andie has been distant since she got home and Andie admits that she slept with another guy at the care facility. Dawson and Eve are caught making out at the school pep rally.
Dawson is faced with an ethical dilemma when Eve gives him a copy of the PSAT's. Various members of the gang consider cheating but only one takes advantage when the fire alarm causes Dawson to leave the envelope behind. Joey faces sexual harassment at work when he refuses her bosses offer of a date. Pacey shows up drunk at Joey's work after Andie gives him a box filled with stuff he gave her while they were going out. Dawson accuses Pacey of stealing the test and the two get into a fight. Jack thinks the football team is being hard on him because he is gay. Henry seeks Jack help getting Jen's attention. On the morning of the PSAT, both Dawson and Pacey walk out on the test. An unlikely person is revealed as the thief.
Pacey encourages Joey to skip school with him but the two are caught by Principal Green. Jen quits the cheerleading squad but they beg her to honor the silent auction for a kiss with her. Mitch isn't thrilled about Dawson's piece on Jack running on Gail's TV station. Andie's begins to panic when she thinks Principal Green knows she cheated on the PSAT's.
After catching Eve exiting Grams house late at night, Dawson becomes more curious about her and begins digging around to find out more about her. Jen is irate when Jack sets her up with Henry. Joey continues to be harassed by Rob and becomes concerned when Andie goes on a date with him.
Andie makes a hefty accusation towards Rob to gain Pacey's attention. As part of being elected Homecoming Queen, Jen must plan a party for former Capeside Homecoming Queens. Gail returns to Capeside with a secret.
Dawson recruits Joey, Pacey and Jen to help with with a Witch Island documentary instead of doing a paper on "The Crucible." Pacey and Jen agree on a friends with benefits relationship. Andie goes full force on heading up the disciplinary committee.
Jen's estranged mother surprises everyone by showing up unannounced for Thanksgiving. Dawson confronts her with what he found out about her past. Jen and Pacey are still being friendly, in their own ways.
Dawson catches Pacey acting awkwardly on more than one occasion and thinks Pacey and Joey are sleeping together. Meanwhile, Andie pressures Jack into meeting a man from the internet.
Dawson, Joey, Jack and Andie visit Boston. Joey and Andy visit a college for a campus visit while Dawson enters his Witch Island film in a festival. Jack explores Boston's gay scene.
Jen begins to rethink turning down Henry. Jack and Ethan spend time together at Capefest. Dawson spends time with Nikki and Principal Green. Andie pursues being associate director of the school play unknowing that Pacey is one of the leads.
Bessie and Joey struggle to make ends meet after opening the Bed and Breakfast. Pacey tries to come to the rescue by inviting a famous critic to spend the evening. Andie pressures Jack to move back home. Mitch and Gale consider new business opportunities. Jen tells Henry about her past.
Pacey gets stage fright before opening night of his play. Joey has her first date with A.J. which causes her to miss Pacey's play. Dawson drops film class in his effort to find himself. Andie has to take over directing the play when Mr. Broderick gets sick. Henry makes another public declaration for Jen.
Jen and Henry finally have their first date, well they try anyways. The rest of the gang go to a party.
Joey's painting gets ruined by the school bully.
Principle Green is forced to resign but the capeside kids try to stop it from happening.
Joey finds out that AJ has a really close friend and decides to leave Boston early. She calls Pacey to come and get her, she soon finds out that he has a lot on his mind......about her.
Pacey tries to tell Dawson his new feeling for Joey.
The gang go to Dawson's aunt's house. Things are very tense for Joey and Pacey after their kiss.
This episode replays the day that the whole Joey and Pacey thing is revealed to Dawson. It is done by each character's point of view.

The gang decide to do their own prom so Jack would be allowed to bring another guy as his date.
While Mitch and Gale re-marry Joey tries to decide who she wants to be with, Dawson or Pacey.
Pacey and Joey finally come home from their summer journey together. Everyone wonders if they had sex while they were gone, and Joey and Pacey would not reveal this to anyone. Jen tries to get Dawson to speak to Joey.
The first day of school in their senior year and Pacey finds out that he might not graduate because of his past bad grades. Joey gets a new job waitressing at the yatch club.
Pacey is finally getting good grades and he wants to celebrate with Joey by going on a sail with True Love. Joey can't go because she needs to do a project with Drue and Dawson so Pacey ends up going with Jen. Jen and Pacey gets into a lot of trouble when a big storm causing them to be stuck. The most unlikey person helps out Pacey.
Drue makes every believe its Jen's birthday- its not. The gang is all thinking about their future and what college they will be attending.
Everyone is shocked to find out that Gail isn't just sick- she's pregnant. Joey is having mixed feelings about wanting to have sex for the first time.
Gail decides to keep her baby, after thinking about it for a while. Drue gives Jen some drugs (like the old days) but then she gives it to Andie and she has a bad reaction because of the meds she was already on.
Jack is very upset with Jen over what happend with Andie and the drugs. Andie's father decides she should leave Capeside for a while.
Jack, Pacey and Dawson all come together to do the best senior prank-ever.
Mr. Brooks gives director advise to Dawson.
Joey has a little emotional melt down.
Pacey tries to hook his sister up with her x boyfriend so her and Dawson couldn't happen.
Joey tries to be nice and throw Pacey a surprise birthday party, which he Hates in a big way. His family treat him like dirt and he is embarrased in front of his friends.
Joey tries to get a few days off at the yacht club so she can go on the senior trip with Pacey.
Mr. Brooks is very ill so Dawson stays home from the ski trip that all of his friends are going on. Jen has very bad luck, then gets drunk with Jack. Joey decides this is the right time to have sex for the first time, with Pacey.
Jen gets sent to a shrink because she got drunk on the senior trip. Joey and Pacey miss the bus back to Capeside.
Jen's a little obsessed with her shrink, following him around like a lost pup. Joey and Gretchen are not getting a long too well when Gretchen relises that Joey lied to Dawson.
Joey gets accepted to the college of her dreams.
Jen and Joey go to NYC on school ditch day.
Gale is due anyday now and Joey thinks she might be pregnant but doesn't tell Pacey anything.
The Senior prom for the Capeside gang turns bad to say the least. Dawson takes Gretchen, Pacey and Joey and Jen is stuck with Dru.
Senior year is almost over.
Joey struggles with writing a speach for graduation. Pacey worries that he won't graduate at all so he leaves town after the last final.
Season finale finds Dawson leaving early to go to California for college. Joey [and Mitch] are having a hard time saying goodbye.
The gang starts "all over again" as freshmen in college with Joey in Boston and Dawson in LA.
Dawson goes to Boston to visit Joey but she is too busy to spend time with him so he ends up spending his weekend with her room-mate, Audrey.
Joey finds out that Pacey is now living in Boston. Dawson goes back to Capeside to tell his parents that he dropping out of the LA film school to move to Boston to be with Joey.
Dawson's friends tries to figure out how to comfort him after loosing his father. He thinks the accident was his fault.
Tobey surprises Jack with a visit to Boston, and Dawon visits Joey.
Dawson tries to hide his pain by getting drunk with Jack at a wild party.
Jen tries to help Dawson go to a shrink.
Jen and Dawson become closer then ever before when they take a trip to New Hamshire for a film festival.
Jack, Pacey and Joey sit around and tell scary stories, and Grams adds one too.
Pacey cooks dinner for all of friends at Gram's house. Joey is shocked when she sees Jen and Dawson kissing.
Dawson brings home Jen to his mother. Pacey wants to see other Joey, Joey's wild side.
Professor Wilder and Joey are having a conflict of interest in each other which is only made worse by Wilder breaking things off without wanting an explanation of what happened to Joey in the previous episode. Things finally seem to be working out or at least being resolved.
Pacey and Audrey fight to suppress their growing interest in each other in the shadow of Joey's mugging. In attempt to take his mind of things, Pacey and Jack hit a bar with amusing results. Jen finds herself tested when interviewing the lead singer from a rock band at the radio station.
After a short summer romance in Capeside, Joey returns to Boston for a new school year. In the hallway she runs into Professor Greg Hetson, she immediately receives homework. Joey wants to prove herself at all cost and starts working, until a message from Dawson confuses her. Meanwhile Audrey also arrives in Boston. Pacey wants to get a job and luckily finds someone who can help him. Jen learns her parents want to get a divorce and jack deals with a broken relationship.
Pacey and Jack become roomies. Dawson and Joey become closer then ever before untill she finds out that he has a girlfriend back in California.
Joey ignores good advice from Audrey and writes a letter to Dawson with her feelings. By the time she is done she was so tired she mailed it to the whole school in stead of Dawson. Meanwhile Pacey goes to work for the first time and notices everybody has already started.
Dawson is confused when he finds himself wondering about Joey........and Natasha. Audrey gets herself attention from a new guy.
Joey wants nothing but the truth from Eddie. Meanwhile, Audrey gets to be lead singer in Emma's band but Pacey is so busy with his job he ends up ignoring Audrey, again.
Joey ends up "babysitting" Harley, Prof. Hetson's daughter. Dawson believes he is seeing a ghost while he is trying to put on a Halloween party for Todd.
Audrey's friends think she may have a drinking problem after she gets really wasted before performing with Emma's band.
The whole gang goes to a No Doubt concert. Joey AND Dawson spend their time with their new "close friends" while ignoring eachother. The big secret comes out to Pacey that while he was still with Audrey she slept with Jen's crush CJ.
Joey decides to spend the night with Eddie and then misses her important exam. Dawson is getting really jealous of the new actor flirting with Natasha.
The whole gang decides to go to Capeside to spend Christmas with Gail. Everyone's relationships fall apart.
Joey is confused about not hearing from Eddie since Christmas.
Emma lets Audrey sing in her band again but still gets trashed right before the show starts so she messes up.
Eddie, Joey and Audrey head for California to drop Audrey off at rehab.
In L.A. Dawson decides to see how Audrey is doing at rehab. Back in Boston Pacey decides to throw a party and very drunk Joey ends up telling her friend's old secrets to everyone at the party.
Pacey and Joey get locked in a K-mart after closing.
Joey babysits for Harley and finds Patrick in her room.
Joey decides to be Pacey's secretary to make some extra money.
Gram's reveals that she has breast cancer and Jen is crushed by the news.
Dr. Drew and Adam come from Lovelines to the college to help them with their love and sex problems.
Pacey looses all of Dawson's money on the stock market.
Pacey finally tells Dawson that the money is all gone. Dawson is totally crushed by the news and is not sure where to go from there. Jen invites her mother to Boston to tell her about Gram's cancer.
Joey tries everything she can to help Dawson make the movie even though all the money for it is gone. She recruits everyone to help.

The series finale finds the gang 5 years older and everyone is meeting up in Capeside for a wedding. Dawson is a director for a tv show called "The Creek". Jack is a Capeside school teacher in love with the town sherrif. Pacey re-opened the Ice House. Jen is a single mother still living with Grams. And Joey is a book editor living in NYC with her current boyfriend.

All the friends try to cope with the revealtion that one of them will pass away very soon. Jen rebuilds her bond between all of her friends, as well as gives her daughter some words of Wisdom. Jack continues to struggle with the curveballs life has thrown him, but starts to think positively about his future. Meanwhile, Joey is forced to choose once and for all between Pacey and Dawson, and finally realizes that the answer has been with her all this time...
