Deadwood is an intense, character-driven drama. Its rich and diverse stories of murder, opium addiction and prostitution told in a stunningly gritty style, have seen it garner a record 11 Emmy nominations, including 'Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series' (David Milch) and 'Outstanding Supporting Actress (Robin Weigert as 'Calamity Jane'). Furthermore, Walter Hill won an Emmy Award for 'Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series' for the pilot episode.

At the heart of the uncompromising town of Deadwood, is Ian McShane (Lovejoy, Sexy Beast), returning to our screens as the charismatic but startlingly foul-mouthed and sadistic saloon and whore-house owner Al Swearangan - a role that has won him a wave of critical acclaim, including 'Best Actor in a TV Drama' at the 2005 Golden Globes. Deadwood was also nominated for Best TV Drama.

McShane is supported by an outstanding cast including Timothy Olyphant (Go, Dreamcatcher) as Seth Bullock, and ex-lawman and Al's nemesis, Keith Carradine (Nashville, Thieves Like Us) as the legendary gunfighter Wild Bill Hickok, and Molly Parker (Six Feet Under) as the upper class Alma Garrett,
