Damien Hayes [S07 (recurring otherwise)], played by Mazin Elsadig

Damien Hayes is a former student of Lakehurst and was even Student Council President. After a feud erupted between Lakehurst and Degrassi, the student councils of the two school met, and proposed several ideas to create peace between the schools. At the meeting, Damien met Manny Santos, who invited him to Liberty Van Zandt's birthday party, who Manny tried to set him up with. At the party, the two hooked up. Unfortunately, Manny's friend J.T. was stabbed by several classmates of Damien's. Damien went with Manny to the hospital, and identified the killer to the police. Damien later started dated Manny, but they broke-up when a protest against Lakehurst started by Manny's best friend Emma, during a cheer leading competition. When Lakehurst burned to the ground, Damien was transferred to Degrassi.
 
 
  Archibald "Snake" Simpson, played by Stefan Brogren

Archie Simpson, known as Snake to his friends, was a former student at Degrassi High School, and was classmates with Joey, and a grade above Spike and Caitlin. He was once a awkward and gangly, yet brainy teenager, who was self-conscious with his height. Snake was a member of the band The Zits (formerly The Zit Remedy) with Joey, and former friend Wheels. He has a gay brother named Glen. Snake later got a job at the newly formed Degrassi Community School as a Media Immersion teacher. His doctor spotted the early stages of leukemia, and luckily, he successfully went through chemotherapy. Snake started dating his old friend Spike, and they got married to each other. He became the step-father to Emma, and later had a child with Spike named Jack. Lately, he went through a mid-life crisis, and cheated on Spike with his co-worker (and boss) Daphne Hatzilakos. He was kicked out of the house for a while, and lived at Joey's. He got back together with Spike, whom he patched things up with. After a student falsely accused Snake of molesting her, Snake is suspended from teaching. Snake is later cleared, but his reputation is ruined, as students make fun of him, and some parents pull their kids out of his class. Even Spike moved out with Jack to live with her mother for a while, but Emma supported him. The following school year, Snake was able to teach the gifted program at Degrassi, while his autistic godson, Connor, stayed with him and Spike, after Emma graduated and went off to college.
 
 
  Christine "Spike" Nelson [S01-S05 (recurring otherwise)], played by Amanda Stepto

She once went to Degrassi and is also the mother of Emma. She had Emma at a very young age, and had a crush on her current husband Archie "Snake" Simpson since highschool.
 
 
  Ms. Daphne Hatzilakos [S05-Present (Recurring Otherwise)], played by Melissa DiMarco

Daphne Hatzilakos is the former science teacher at Degrassi Community School. She was the object for many male students affections, more notably J.T. Yorke and Spinner Mason (who nicknamed her "Ms. Hot Sauce"). After the school shooting, the school board transferred Dan Raditch to another school, and Daphne was offered the job as principal. She helped the school recover from the tragedy , and expelled Spinner and Jay Hogart for their involvement in the shooting, due to the school's zero tolerance for bullying. In Season 5, it was revealed that she had a son, Peter Stone, after he transferred to Degrassi from a private school. She and Peter's father had a divorce, and they have joint custody. Besides being Principal, she is also the girl's lacrosse coach. Her co-worker, Archie Simpson and her became attracted to each other, leading to an affair. In 2007, Degrassi's arch-rival, Lakehurst, burned to the ground, leading to Lakehurst students to integrate into Degrassi. Daphne is now Principal for both schools, and must now deal with the large influx of students.
 
 
  Caitlin Ryan [S03-5], played by Stacie Mistysyn

Caitlin Ryan was a former student of Degrassi. She graduated a year early, and immediately got involved in the film industry, and eventually got her own TV show, called Ryan's Planet- a environmental show. She later moved back to Toronto, and started dating her old boyfriend, Joey Jeremiah. Soon after the got together, her agent offered her a deal to travel the world for a TV special. Caitlin agreed, and a year later, and became a news reporter. She later moved in with Joey. Kevin Smith took interest in her, while filming Jay and Silent Bob Go Canadian, Eh!, and led to the break up of Joey and Caitlin. He urged Caitlin to go back to L.A. and begin production of Ryan's Planet again. She agreed, and moved back to California.
 
 
  Daniel Raditch [S01-S04], played by Dan Woods

Mr. Raditch was once the English teacher at Degrassi Junior High. He got a new job at Degrassi High, and eventually became principal at Degrassi Community School, until he transferred to another school, and was succeeded by Daphne Hatzilakos, the science teacher.
 
 
Peter Stone [S05], played by

Peter is the son of Ms. Hatzilakos, and he used to go to private school. He moved to Degrassi in his Junior year, and seemed charming at first. At a party, he filmed a topless, drunk Manny, and spread it throughout the school. He and Emma soon fell in love, and secretly dated behind Manny's back. He helped Emma through her anorexia, and befriended Manny. He is very supportive boyfriend.
 
 
Darcy Edwards [S06 (reacurring otherwise)], played by Shenae Grimes

Darcy came to school to Degrassi a couple years ago. She is a born-again Christian, and is against premarital sex. She and Spinner began dating, and she forgave Spinner of all his sins. She was shocked to find out Spinner wasn't a virgin, but she soon forgave him. She has a younger sister, Claire, who is even more uptight than Darcy. Darcy is very found of her MyRoom page on MyRoom.com - a social networking site that brings more trouble than Darcy thought of. She later starts dating Peter Stone.
 
 
Ellie Nash [Season 3-], played by Stacey Farber

Ellie Nash was once a individualistic girl, who befriended Ashley when her former friends ostracized her, and also became friends with Marco, who she developed a crush on. They started dating, but once Marco reveled that he was gay, they stopped dating, even though Ellie pretended to still be his girlfriend in public for Marco's benefit, but later broke up with him because it was unfair for her. When her dad (who was a Colonel for the Canadian army) was sent to a peacemaking mission in Afghanistan, Ellie's mother began drinking due to her alcoholism, while led Ellie to cut herself. When Paige discovered this, she urged her to get help, but when Ellie refused, Paige turned to Ms. Sauve, the school counselor. While attending a Saturday detention, Ellie met Sean Cameron. Later, Ellie began dating Sean, and moved in with him after her mom accidentally started there kitchen on fire, and her mother checked into rehab. Ellie slowly recovered from her cutting, using other methods to stop, such as snapping a rubber band to her wrist. Not too long after moving in with Sean, he moved out, leaving Ellie to live alone, besides her pet ferret, which later died. Unable to keep up with the rent, Ellie moved back with her mom. In her senior year, Ashley went to England with her father, so Ellie started hanging out with Craig. She soon had a crush on him, and became drummer for his band Downtown Sasquatch. She also started hanging out with Jimmy, and encouraged him to pursue art. Ellie graduated, and went to Toronto University with Marco. She was going to live in a dorm, but her roommate Amberly kicked her out, so Ellie moved in with Marco, and his boyfriend Dylan in a house on campus. Ellie became an editor for the college newspaper, The Core, and started dating her editor-in-chief, Jesse until they eventually broke-up.
 
 
Craig Manning [Season 2-5], played by Jake Epstein

Craig is the musical type of guy and is the lead singer of his band, but before that his dad was abusive and died. Since then, he's been diagnosed as bipolar.
 
 
Manny Santos, played by Cassie Steele

Manny used to be the sweet and innocent friend of Emma. Manny's first boyfriend was Craig, but they ended up breaking up after a bad date. After Paige told her to spice her wardrobe up a bit, Manny wore thongs, and tight clothes, which attracted attention from a bunch of guys (J.T., Sully, and Craig). She ended up having unprotected sex with Craig, and became pregnant. She got advice from Emma's mom, who had Emma when she was just under 15, and decided to get an abortion. Manny continued an on-and-off again relationship with Craig, which caused her and Ashley to despise each other. Manny wants to be either a fashion designer, or an actress, and even considered breast implants, which led to her father kicking her out. Manny lived with her friend Emma until J.T. was killed outside her house, which led her to move back with her parents.
 
 
Alex Nuñez [S05-7 (recurring otherwise)], played by Deanna Casaluce

Alex Nuñez was once the troubled, misunderstood girlfriend of Jay, and hung out with his gang. In her Junior year, Alex ran against Marco for Class President, ending up loosing. Marco, however, let her be his Vice President. Alex helped set up the prank of Rick, with her Vice President status, which indirectly caused the school shooting. Alex wasn't punished though, but Jay and Spinner were.

Alex also worked at the movie theater, and Paige ended up being her co-worker. The two eventually became friends, even though they both detested each other at first. Their friendship led them to show up at school high from smoking pot, which luckily had no serious consequences. Later there senior year, Paige and Alex became very close, and Alex realized she was a lesbian. Paige is still confused though. When visiting Alex's house, Paige learns that Alex's mom Emily has an abusive boyfriend named Chad, and that Alex's home isn't the happiest. The two dated until the end of their senior year, because Paige wanted to move on.

Alex graduated, but came back to Degrassi for a Victory lap so she receive more credits, because she wants to go to college. Ms. Hatzilakos tells her the lacrosse team would look good on her application, so Alex volunteers, but clashes with a team mate, who was one of the many students Alex picked on a few years back. Alex finds out that she broke the girl's arm, and made her temporarily blind. When Alex's mom becomes the victim of credit card fraud due to her boyfriend Chad, who is arrested by the police, Alex has to find a way to earn money. After finding out that Jay's girlfriend makes a lot of money waitressing at Club Zanzibar, a night club located in downtown Toronto, Alex decides to work there, but when she and her mom faces eviction, she decides to become an exotic dancer at the club, under the name Lextasy. When Paige finds out, she is angry is with Alex, and the two are at odds. After a rude customer angers her, Alex quits in a rage. She goes home to find out that her mom used the money to bail Chad out of jail. Alex moves out and stays at Paige's house, along with Ellie and Marco. After stay there for a while, Marco and Ellie become upset that Alex is staying their and not paying her way. Alex stays there all day and feels sorry for herself, and smokes pot with Jay. Eventually, Paige kicks her out, and Alex moves away to stay at her aunts house.
 
 
Gavin "Spinner" Mason, played by Shane Kippel

Gavin Mason, or known to everyone as Spinner due to his ADD was once the school bully/prankster, who dated Paige He works at the Dot. He used to let Paige push him around, but when he started taking advantage of her after she crashed his "love machine", they broke up. Spinner was involved in the prank on Rick, which led to the school shooting. Spinner and Jay were talking about it in the men's washroom, when they noticed Rick was in there. They purposely blamed it on Jimmy, which led Rick to shoot him. Jimmy blamed Spinner once he found out what Spinner did. Spinner and Jay were both expelled, and all his friends abandoned him. Spinner started working at the Dot full time, until he was allowed back to school the next year. He soon met Darcy, who forgave him, despite his troubling past. At first, Spinner was a bit hesitant to become a born-again Christian, but he eventually did. He and Darcy dated for the rest of the year. There future is unclear at the moment.
 
 
Jimmy Brooks, played by Aubrey Graham

The crippled artist. He is popular and once very athletic, and friends with Spinner, and is also friends with Marco, and tried to become friends with Rick, but Spinner pulled a prank on Rick on live television and then said that Jimmy was responsible for it to try to get Rick mad at Jimmy but even worse Jimmy became the victim of a gunshot wound. He survived, but he didn't completely recover, and eventually found out that Spinner was responsible for messing things up, but he still hasn't been able to put together the shocking event. He is now an artist, and doesn't do much of any sports anymore.
 
 
Ashley Kerwin [S01-S04, S06], played by Melissa McIntyre

Ashley started out very academically driven, and even was Class President in grade 8. However, she found out her parent's divorced because her dad was gay, which Ashley found hard to accept. Ashley dated Jimmy Brooks, and recently moved in with her mom's new husband, and his son Toby. At the end of grade 8, Ashley took ecstasy at a party, and lost her boyfriend, her friends, and the trust of everyone, not to mention her reputation.

In her freshman year, Ashley struggled to become friends with her old crowd again, but unfortunately couldn't. Instead, Ashley hung out with Ellie Nash, and the two had the same interest in music. Ashley even decides to be more like Ellie, and cuts her hair very short, and become goth. Jimmy starts to like Ashley again, but when Jimmy likes the old Ashley better, Ashley breaks up with him, and dates Craig, who likes her for who she is.

In her sophomore year, Craig cheats on her with Manny Santos, and Manny ends up pregnant (and later gets an abortion). Ashley is unable to forgive Craig once she finds out, and ignores him throughout the year, until the Battle of the Bands, when Craig apologizes and means it. The two than become a couple again.

In her freshman year, Ashley is depressed when Rick, who beat her friend Terri, shoots Jimmy during the school shooting. Like many, Ashley attended the counseling that followed the aftermath of the event. Ashley and Craig help with the music on Kevin Smith's movie. Craig asks her to marry him at her father's wedding, and she turns him down. Craig, who is bi-polar, becomes very depressed, and runs away. Later, Ashley moves to London with her father.

Ashley misses her senior year, because she isn't able to find a school in London, so she comes back a year later, and she starts dating Jimmy Brooks. Ashley helps Jimmy as he tries to figure himself, now that he's wheel-chair bound. Ashley seems to be interested in law, and Jimmy does, if art doesn't work out, that is.
 
 
Jay Hogart [S05 (recurring otherwise)], played by Mike Lobel

Jay was introduced along with Alex as being a criminal, and Sean, and later Spinner joined the group. He, Alex, and Spinner pranked Rick in front of live television, which caused the shooting. Alex changed first, and then Jay did later, and eventually Spinner. Jay and Alex have dated, but Alex later dated Paige. Jay is still there whenever Alex needs somebody to talk to.
 
 
Emma Nelson, played by Miriam McDonald

Emma Nelson is what started the "Next Generation" of Degrassi because she was seen much younger in "Degrassi High" when her mother was attending Degrassi. In season one, she was your average "environmental freak" and was often seen protesting something. In season 3, she loosened up a little and started the first mixed race dating in "Degrassi-TNG". Then in season 4, she forgot all of her old woes and turned into a hypocrite. She started hanging by herself after breaking Liberty and Chris up out of pure jealously. She then went down a a guy(Jay) and was perceived to of caught an STD. Then in season 5, she loosed up a bit again and started hanging out with her gal pal Manny Santos, who lives at her house. She is currently "secretly" dating a boy, whom her best friend Manny hates.
 
 
Hazel Aden [S03-5 (recurring otherwise)], played by Andrea Lewis

Hazel is a member of the cheer squad, and one of the most popular girls in the senior class. Hazel's best-friend is Paige, and she felt betrayed when she found out that her friend was a bisexual. Hazel once was ashamed that she was a Muslim during heritage week, and pretended she was Jamaican. Hazel once had a crush a Marco, but found out he's a homosexual. Her hobbies include shopping, and getting a frappuccino at the Dot with Paige. Hazel once got detention for surfing Internet pornography on the school computer, and got a Saturday detention along with Ellie, Sean, Toby, and Jimmy. A lot of crazy things happened during the detention, and that's how she hooked up with Jimmy. About a year after they started dating, Jimmy was shot in the spine by a school shooter, and Hazel was tremendously sad. She stood by him, and welcomed her now crippled boyfriend. Jimmy was no longer the same, and when he took an interest in Ellie, they broke up. During their senior year, Paige started hanging out with Alex more, and Hazel was jealous. Hazel later got over his jealousy, and the three hanged out more often. Hazel went on to graduate, and moved away to college.
 
 
J.T. Yorke [S01-S06], played by Ryan Cooley

J.T. Yorke was the once short, nerdy, best-friend of Toby. Once he went through puberty, and became taller, the older kids started liking him, and he became semi-popular. J.T. had a crush on Manny, but when they went out, and she saw his "manhood", they broke-up, and J.T. started dating his long time peer Liberty, who had a crush on him since the seventh grade. They became inseparable, and they fell in love. When J.T. got Liberty pregnant, J.T. started working 3 jobs to bring in money. When that wasn't enough, J.T. started dealing drugs, and became depressed. He one day overdosed (trying to kill himself), and Liberty broke-up with him. After Liberty, J.T. started dating Mia Jones, ironically a single mother. J.T. got involved in the Lakehurst-Degrassi rivalry, and was killed by Drake Lempky, and Lakehurst student. J.T. was raised by his grandmother.
 
 
Liberty Van Zandt, played by Sarah Barrable-Tishauer

Liberty Van Zandt (according to a press release before the series started, but not considered canon) was moved up a grade because she was extremely intelligent. Liberty found out she was dyscalculia in the beginning of grade 8. That was devastating to her, because she's a perfectionist. People even started rumours that her and Mr. Armstrong were doing "stuff" in the classroom, when they were actually discussing her dyscalculia. Liberty soon developed a major crush on J.T. Yorke. J.T. tried to make her stop crushing on her, even telling her he was gay to get her away. Liberty tried to date other guys, such as Sean, but Sean wasn't interested. His friend Towerz was, however, and Liberty and him dated for a short time. Liberty still had a crush on J.T. though. J.T. became friends with Liberty's younger brother Danny, and Liberty got closer to J.T. J.T. and her finally went out. Liberty also became school president in her junior year. There relationship went to far when they had sex (on regular occasions), regardless of the fact that J.T.'s condom slipped of the first time, which got Liberty pregnant. Liberty knew for almost two months before she told J.T. She became really bossy towards him, thinking he was too immature for a child. J.T. broke up with her, even though he got a couple of jobs in order to pay for the baby. They both decided to keep the baby, until J.T. started selling drugs for money, and that's when Liberty realized that J.T. wasn't responsible enough for a child. Liberty made the choice to put the baby up for adoption. A family from Vancouver adopted the baby, and Liberty was hit hard once the baby was actually gone. Liberty continued to work hard as school president.
 
 
Marco Del Rossi, played by Adamo Ruggiero

Marco dated Ellie once, but broke it off, because he found out that he is gay. Many people do not understand and pick on him, especially Spinner, who strongly suggested to Marco that he could still try to hide it. Marco says that this is impossible, because strangers can see that he is gay and will severely beat him up. He tried to hide all of this from his parents, especially his father, for as long as he could. He dated Paige's brother, and both of them have had relationship problems. Spinner once thought that Marco is attracted to him, but he says he finds Spinner repulsive. He has been on Spinner's side a lot, even when Spinner was doing the wrong thing. After he graduated high school, he went to the University of Toronto, and stayed in a house with Dylan and Ellie. Later, Paige moved in, but Dylan moved out because he went to play hockey in Switzerland. That led Marco into a gambling addiction, which led him to steal from his dad, and even get arrested.
 
 
Paige Michalchuk, played by Lauren Collins

Paige has always been popular. She has a gay brother named Dylan, who is dating her friend Marco. Paige was raped by a guy named Dean Walden at a party, and she was semi-scarred for life. She took him to court, but lost. She dated Spinner for a couple of years, but she broke up with him when he took advantage of her. Paige also dated her student-teacher Matt Oleander, who gave her pot when they broke-up. She and her co-worker Alex soon became friends. They once hated each other, but Alex made Paige realize she was bisexual. Paige didn't want to accept that, but with the help of director Kevin Smith, Paige realized she was bi. She graduated and is going to be attending a university.
 
 
Sean Cameron [Season 1-4, 6], played by Daniel Clark (1)

Sean Cameron was born and raised in Wasaga Beach, but after making a boy deaf in one ear, his brother Tracker and him moved to Toronto. Sean had to repeat grade 7. Sean found interest in Emma Nelson, who was the complete opposite of him. When Tracker found a job in Alberta, Sean stayed in Degrassi, and lived on student welfare. Sean has been involved with a few girls, including a on and off-again relationship with Emma, a short-lived one with Amy, and then Ellie. Sean helped save Emma's life from the school shooter Rick, after trying to force the gun out of his hands, which ended up killing Rick. Sean then moved back to his parents house. He is going to return to Degrassi.
 
 
Terri MacGregor [S01-3], played by Christina Schmidt

Terri MacGregor was a average Canadian teen. Terri was sometimes self-conscious about her weight, but with the help of her friends, she felt comfortable the way she is. Terri was once a plus-sized model, but quit after some guys made fun of her. Terri once had a crush on Spinner, but that didn't work out. She also liked Rick, but he turned out to be abusive, and he even put her into a coma after pushing her hard into a jagged rock. She moved away from Toronto, and enrolled into another school.
 
 
Toby Isaacs, played by Jake Goldsbie

Toby is very smart, and is friends with Liberty, Emma, Manny, and also with J.T. before his death. He has also been friends with Rick, and both of them knew Jimmy. Toby knows how to get into the school's records on computer, and tried to change Jimmy's grades so they could go to a concert, but made a mistake and got caught which got both Toby and Jimmy in Saturday Detention. He has dated Kendra. He can be very self conscious which leads him to trying to become fit really fast which made him throw up.
