Stephen Stohn updates.
May 3, 2008 - We had the first read-through for Season 8 yesterday--it was emotional seeing some of our favourite returning actors--and there are a set of new actors as well who are going to be great... we start shooting in just over two weeks... it's been incredibly busy getting everything set up over the past while, but the scripts are starting to really come together..
There will be at least 18 episodes in Season 8 but there may be 22 episodes... we're working on it--if it's 22 episodes the last four will be **special**!!
May 5, 2008 - Pretty much every one will be back, but we are also introducing some new characters so that we can continue to feature predominantly the stories at Degrassi itself, not just follow the lives of the characters who have left Degrassi...
May 7, 2008 - The special episodes, if they happen, are not planned to be an ending... we are hoping the series continues into Season 9 and beyond!
May 9, 2008 - Here's some tentative episode titles:

Please don't change the season number until the rest of season 7 airs. The only information for season 8 will be the first six episodes and what the title comes from, so please be patient. All add Season 8 the day after Season 7 finishes. (on the N or CTV, whichever is last) |

Season 8 Info
-8 new characters
-Holly J, Mia, etc. are now seniors
-Mia goes through bit of a transformation and does things you never seen before, goes through a lot, and is EDGY
-Mia is now popular
-Derek shaved off his afro, has new clothes, new life, new interests,
-new shake up for the Degrassi-Lakehurst rivalry (i.e. a new demonstration)
-siblings of Degrassi students now attenting, like Claire Edwards, Darcy's sister
-Claire is trying to find her own individuality and is in the gifted program, and there is a boy
-new Asian character named Leia (played by Judy Jiao) who used to be a ballet dancer, but is now trying to distance herself from that.
- a scene features Leia walking w/ Danny and is mad at something Mia did
-Riley (played by Argiris Karras) is new guy on Football team (so Degrassi does have a football team) and is a bit of a ladies man, is tough, therefore doesn't get attached to people and checks out Mia
-the Spirit Squad is the now the Power Squad and headed by Holly J.
-Holly J is trying to rule the school still
-Anya follows her around still
-Chante (Jajube Mandela) is a returning member of the Power Squad and puts Holly J in her place
-new administration
- in a cafeteria scene, a Grade 9 sibling (probably Claire) shows off a talent and gets food thrown at her |

All the cast is returning, most of them still as regulars. The only people I'm not sure about are the '07 graduates and '06 grads. I'll try to make a list of returning cast members.

Not Miley Cyrus, per se, but someone who sings the same way. I was hoping they went that male vocal route, if they did change the theme song, just for something different. I like the Jakalope version the best.

Riley's new to Degrassi, but you'll have to move quickly if you wanna catch him -- he's quite a fast runner.
