| | Paige goes to trial against her rapist, Dean, but when the judge is given no choice but to find Dean not guilty, due to lack of evidence, which leads to an out of control Paige to wreck Spinner's new car by crashing it into Dean's, leaving their relationship on edge. Craig receives cash from his late father's estate, but Joey is left struggling to keep his dealership going and keeping his house. Marco comes out to his mother, as he campaigns for Student Council President, against Alex, who threatens to out him in front of the entire school, but Marco ends up winning, giving Alex the position of Vice President. Emma lets jealousy gets in the way of her friendship with both Liberty and Manny, leaving Emma to bond with Paige against Rick Murray, who has returned to Degrassi, leading them to form an anti-bully campaign against him, which results in Rick being bullied himself. J.T. fears he doesn't measure up to Manny's standards, when he finds out he is now as well endowed as Craig, which ends up leaving Manny to break-up with him for being immature. Ellie moves in with Sean because of her mom's self-destructive behavior. A Spirit Squad car wash leads Spinner to get closer to Manny and when Spinner is a jerk towards Paige, Craig calls him out on it, leading to them to finally break-up. Ditched by J.T., Toby forms a friendship with Rick. Jimmy and Spinner are among those who bully Rick, but Rick whens over Jimmy and Emma, after those three, plus Toby, become members of the Whack Your Brain team for Degrassi and appear on a quiz show. Degrassi sails to victory thanks to Rick, but a prank involving paint and feathers, set up by Alex, Spinner, and Jay, turns Rick's shining moment, into a humiliating and devastating moment. Emma tries to comfort him, but Rick takes it the wrong way and tries to kiss her. Emma yells at him, and Rick goes home and takes his father's gun. He returns to Degrassi, gun concealed in his jacket, still covered in yellow paint and feathers. Students continue to mock him and after several close calls of Rick about to pull out the gun, he puts it in his locker. After overhearing Spinner and Jay in the bathroom (who realize Rick is in their after seeing paint all over), he hears them credit Jimmy with the prank, leading him to grab the gun and a point it at Jimmy. As Jimmy tries to run away, he shoots him in the spine, paralyzing him from the waist down. Rick walks the halls, until he sees Emma, Sean, and Toby together. He tells them to stop and points the gun at Emma. Sean attempts to grab the gun away, and they struggle, causing the gun to go off, killing Rick. A devastated and emotional Sean returns to his parents in Wasaga Beach, while Toby struggles with the death of his best friend. Paige develops a crush on a student teacher, while Craig gets back together with Ashley, whom he wants to marry, but she refuses, causing Craig to become very depressed. Craig later finds out he suffers from bipolar disorder and begins attending a group. Paige tries to get closer with Mr. Oleander and succeeds. Emma, still emotional and a wreck since the shooting, decides to hang out with Jay at the ravine, where the two hook-up and Emma gives him a blow job in return of a bracelet. Jay later finds out he has gonorrhea and has spread it to Alex, Amy, and even Emma, who still has to perform in Degrassi's production of Dracula as the leading lady. As Jimmy returns to Degrassi - in a wheelchair, Spinner tells Jimmy the truth about why Rick shot him, which results on everyone turning on Spinner, and leads Ms. Hatzilakos (who replaces Mr. Raditch as Principal) to expel both Spinner and Jay. Paige and Matt try to keep their relationship secret, but when Manny exposes their secret, Paige and Manny become bitter enemies and Matt loses his position as a student teacher. Marco finds out that Dylan cheated on him, whom he breaks up with. Still fighting, Manny attempts to settle their differences, but when Manny is demoted to mascot, Manny comes up with a plan that results in Paige breaking her leg. Manny is crowned Prom Queen, but not before Paige pulls her dress off in front of the entire school. Director Kevin Smith comes to Degrassi to film his new film, which Craig wants him and Ashley to write and perform the music to, but when Ashley wants to leave to go to London, Craig spins out of control when he stops taking his meds and roams the streets of Toronto. Caitlin and Joey continue to fight, and despite proposing to him, Caitlin decides to break up with Joey and return to L.A. to revive her old show. The school year ends with many students appearing in the Kevin Smith film. | |
