With the new school year beginning, Emma sets off to find her biological father and her step-father, Snake, finds out he has cancer. Manny decides to shed her sweet and innocent image by shedding her clothes, and dressing more provocatively. Spinner cannot seem to accept Marco's homosexuality after Marco comes out. Marco is then later gay-bashed while walking in downtown Toronto. Sean ditches J.T. and Toby after he finds a new group of friends. Terri starts dating Rick, who ends up physically abusing her. Craig becomes the center of a love triangle, when he dates both Ashley and Manny. Emma gets revenge on Sean by getting him in trouble. Manny and Craig have sex, which results in a pregnancy, and Manny later has an abortion. Ashley finds out that Craig cheated on her, and Manny receives the reputation as the school slut. A Saturday detention brings together Jimmy and Hazel and also Sean and Ellie. Craig and Ashley both have their bands compete in a battle of the bands, where Craig finally apologizes through song. Marco goes on his first date with a guy. Paige, Spinner, and Ashley decide to take a day off from school. When Tracker moves away, Sean stays behind, with the help of student welfare. In the end of the year dance, Jimmy's perfect night goes up in flames and so does the school.
