Show Tidbits
The majority of the episodes are named after songs from the'80s, with the exception of Wannabe and Jagged Little Pill which are named after songs from the '90s, and What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost? which is a song from 2006. Some of the episodes from the first season aren't named after songs at all.

Adamo Ruggerio (Marco Del Rossi) tried out for the role of Craig Manning, but the role was instead casted to Jake Epstein. The casting agents liked Adamo so much, they replaced the small role of Oscar for a new character named Marco.

Heather Sinclair is an on-going gag within the Degrassi episodes. She is portrayed as "the most popular girl in school", but whenever mentioned, something embarassing is often associated with her. She is never properly seen until the 6th season.

Most prominently is Stephen Brogen (Snake), Amanda Stepto (Spike), Pat Mastroianni (Joey Jeremiah), Stacie Mistysyn (Caitlin Ryan), and Dan Woods (Mr. Raditch). Other characters from the old show have also appeared, like Neil Hope (Wheels), Anais Granofsky (Lucy Fernandez), Siluck Saysanasy (Yik Yu), Cathy Keenan (Liz O'Rouke), and Dayo Ade (BLT) among others. Also, in an episode where Emma searches for her biological father (Shane McKay). The actor (Bill Parrot) who portrayed him in the old series was unable to do the episode, so they hired another actor.

The character J.T. Yorke's full name- James Tiberius comes from the Star Trek series.

When coming up for ideas for the show name, one of the crew, who was a Star Trek fan, jokingly suggested Degrassi: The Next Generation after Star Trek: The Next Generation. The name was then made the official title.

Executive producers Stephen Stohn and Linda Schuyler are married.

Pat Mastroianni was only supposed to guest star on one episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation.
