Bree falls while she's rollerblading with Keith. He thinks maybe she
feigned the fall to avoid dinner with the parents. She tells him not to
be silly, she's fine. She proceeds to pass out. The medic is taking her
blood pressure, and Keith goes to get her something to drink. She's hit
by another hot flash, but still doesn't realize what's going on. The
medic tells her it's menopause. When Keith returns and asks if they
figured things out, the medic is about to fill him in as well, but Bree
interrupts to announce she has indigestion from that hot dog he bought her.
Paul and Beth had a wonderful, passionate night. He wants to go another
round. Beth agrees, but they're interrupted by somebody outside, leaning
on the horn. It's his prison cellmate, Derek Yeager.
Renee is starting an interior design business, and she wants Lynette to
run the business end of things. Lynette jumps at the chance, especially
since she'll be able to bring Paige to work with her. Renee says No Way.
Lynette can get a nanny. Surely she knows someone who is in desperate
need of money.
Susan is at the grocery store dealing with MJ's refusal to accept
generic cereal. She has to put a few items back. The checkout girl wants
her to donate to some charity for poor people, and when Susan becomes
indignant she tells her to "calm down". That's when Susan reams her a
new one.
Gaby burned the meatloaf again. Carlos wonders if it's their
anniversary, because the table is set nicely, so she hits him on the
shoulder. Bob is coming over. She TOLD Carlos, but he never listens.
Carlos doesn't want to eat with them, he feels he has nothing in common
with Bob.
Over at the Youngs, Derek joins Paul and Beth for dinner. When Beth
asks, Derek tells Beth he did time for murder. Paul feels that they
should keep Derek's rap sheet to themselves. Derek will be staying in
Paul's old house while he does a "little work" for Paul.
Gaby says they can't thank Bob enough for finding Grace for them. She
gives him tickets to "Cats" as a thank-you gift. Bob says Lee was the
"show queen." When he found out Lee saw "Annie" six times, even he
wanted to gay bash him. Bob prefers beer and college basketball. When
Carlos hears that, he's back in the conversation. Carlos says he gets
free tickets to games all the time, they should go. Bob says there's a
game on right now, they could watch it after dessert! Gaby is shocked
that her evening changed so much. Lee says he's not a tired gay
stereotype. He bargains with Gaby for Carlos' time. If she lets them
watch the game, he'll come back in and tell her how great she looks in
her Dolce-Gabana. She says it's Versace, and he needs to go; she can't
even bear to look at him right now.
Bree tells the ladies about the menopause diagnosis. Karen tells her
she's not old enough for that. Bree can't figure out why this is
happening when she has never felt so alive, thanks to Keith. She worries
that it will have an adverse effect on their relationship. They all tell
her not to tell him. Bree says she can't. They are in a relationship and
she won't lie to him. Renee scoffs at her. Bree stays on the high road
until Renee mentions faking an orgasm just to get him to stop. Karen
chimes in that she loves football, the Three Stooges are damn funny, and
she's never asked a man to stop.
Susan is checking her voice mail when a message comes in about the new
business, saying Renee and Lynette could really use her help. She gets
all excited, telling MJ that she just got offered a job as an interior
designer. However, she finds out about the nanny position when she
arrives to discuss the offer. She is taken aback, but agrees to be
Lynette's nanny.
Bree goes to see Dr. Shapiro, but she's on maternity leave. Dr. Wagner
introduces herself. The doctor herself is going through "the change."
Bree wants something to mask the symptoms, since Keith is so much
younger than she is. The doctor says they can talk about some therapies.
Lee shows up at the Solis home very late at night. He's quite
distracted, and finally spills the beans. He has heard that Lee is
seeing someone. He's been seen out three times in the past week with
some "hunky latino". Gaby says not to worry, that's just Carlos. Lee
said no, now they both have something to worry about. Lee has always had
a crush on Carlos. Gaby says Carlos is as straight as they come. Bob
says that doesn't matter. Lee has a nasty habit of getting straight men
wasted and then flipping them. When Carlos and Lee get home, Bob runs
out the back door. Lee got Carlos drunk and is walking him into the house.
Lynette fills Renee in on what she's accomplished thus far, but Renee
isn't listening. When Susan comes in, Paige is already asleep. Lynette
is very impressed. She asks how Alaska is treating Mike, and Susan says
he's fine, She offers to do the laundry while the baby is sleeping but
Lynette says no. Sit down, take a load off, have some wine. Susan says
no, she's on the clock. Renee says if Susan needs something to do, she'd
love some more iced tea. Renee corrects her that serving them is not
Susan's job. When they hear Paige crying over the monitor, Lynette
points at it and says THAT is Susan's job. She feels badly when Susan
dashes off to do her job.
Beth calls her mom with a Paul/Derek update. When she sees Paul drive
away, she ends the call and goes over to chat with Derek. He abruptly
tells her that Paul went to the store. She tries to dig some information
out of Derek, but he just aims her back to Paul. She tries emotional
manipulation, but that doesn't work, so she shifts gears. Beth points
out that if he, as a parolee, was accused of attacking her, he'd go back
to prison. She rips her dress, telling him she'll say he did it, unless
he tells her why Paul called him here.
At the Solis house, Carlos tells Gaby he's going golfing for the weekend
with Bob. It's going to be an over-nighter, since they have a 6:00 a.m.
tee time. She's wondering why they don't just get separate rooms, and
Carlos doesn't get it. Gabi spells it out for him. This isn't about
golf, it's about seduction. Carlos thinks that's awesome, because he was
actually planning on turning gay this weekend. She doesn't know why it
bothers her so much, but since it obviously does, Carlos agrees not to go.
Dinner with the folks takes a surreal loop when Keith's mother turns out
to be Bree's new gynecologist (and also a pretty serious social
drinker). Mary is completely unamused with Bree, now that her son is the
young man in question. Mary wonders if Bree is the one who is going to
be giving them grandchildren. During the conversation, Bree has a hot
flash. Keith is worried, because it's the same thing that happened in
the park. He asks Mary to take a look at her, and she agrees. She asks
Bree some very leading questions about menopause. Bree finally admits
that's exactly what is happening, and leaves the table to go stand in
the restaurant's walk-in freezer.
A potential client is going to have dinner with Renee and Lynnette, but
first she wants to sneak a peek at their work. Renee suggest something
completely illogical for a seven year-old, and doesn't listen to the
client's objections. Susan joins the conversation, and the client likes
what she has to say. She calls her daughter to see what character she'd
like on her wall, telling Renee and Lynette they should hire Susan.
She's good. Renee scolds Susan for upstaging them. When Lynette tries to
tell her Renee was wrong, Susan says no; Renee is right. She crossed a line.
Gaby stops to borrow some eggs from Bob. He shoots her a hurt look and
shuts the door in her face. She follows him in, and they talk things
out. He was lonely. After he and Lee split up, he had nothing but work
and home alone. When he got their invitation for dinner, he was so
happy. And when Carlos was cool with hanging out with him he thought,
finally. He had some kind of a social life back. and now it's gone. Gaby
realizes how wrong she was, and says Carlos can go. She says if he wants
to flip someone, Tom Scavo is a logical choice.
Lynette finally hashes things out with Susan. She's honest about
thinking she was going to be working with Lynette, but finding out she
was going to be working for her instead. It hurts. She really thought
she'd be good at interior design. And she can't afford to say no to the
money, so yeah. She took the job. She says it's an awful reminder that
all of her friends look at her differently now. She's the poor one.
Lynette tells her the money thing is temporary, but how they feel about
her, the friendship - that will never change. And then she says
something she's never said to a nanny before. "How bout we go downstairs
and get a little drunk?"
Beth is draped across the bed wearing a truly jaw-dropping lingerie set.
She's ready to make love, and so is Paul. He tells her that she has
turned out to be the perfect wife, but she disagrees. If he perceived
her as trustworthy, then she'd be perfect. But he won't tell her what
his plans are for Wisteria Lane. That's okay though; Yeager told her.
They had a nice long chat and she was shocked, to say the least. He
tells her she doesn't understand vengeance, but he's wrong. She
understand vengeance completely. He tells her she really is the perfect
wife.
Keith comes to Bree's and asks why he didn't tell her the truth of
what's going on. He looks hurt when she tells him that she always knew
there was an expiration date on their relationship. A 17-year difference
is too big to maintain over time, and there are other considerations as
well. He doesn't care that she can't get pregnant. He figures they'll
adopt. He doesn't realize that she's already done her baby-raising phase
of life. He looks stunned, and pulls away from her. She knows he's going
to be an amazing father, and she doesn't want him to have to give that
up. He doesn't want to have this conversation now. They've only been
dating two months. He just wants them to keep being happy, okay? Bree
agrees, and they hug.
Gaby changed her mind again. Carlos can't go golfing with Bob. He reacts
in anger, but she tells him she has somebody in mind that would be
better for him. She dashes out, and back in with Lee. He tells him that
once Gaby filled him in, and he stopped laughing, he actually felt bad
for Bob. Bob retorts that they only broke up four months ago. How did
Lee gain so much weight? Gaby waves them into a cease-fire. They've both
been miserable. She says they really should work their issues out
instead of just throwing the entire relationship away. She leaves them
looking like a couple of scalded cats. After a few seconds, she
remembers she had something else to tell them, and goes back in. They're
having a majorly passionate kiss. She leaves again, with a smug grin on
her face. She falls down the stairs and finds Penny Scavo smirking at
her when she gets up.
Beth goes to visit someone in prison. It's her mom, Felicia Tilman.
