Sorry Grateful - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Felicia Tillman knows who killed her sister. All she needs is proof, and
someone to help her (what with her being behind bars n'all). Beth is
trying to get results, but Felicia is pushing hard. She becomes furious
when Beth admits to sleeping with Paul. She can't believe she let Paul
defile her own daughter. When Beth protests that it wasn't that bad,
Felicia asks if she enjoyed it. Of course not! Beth feigns being
horrified. Felicia's glad Beth has the stomach for it, and hopes they
can use this to their advantage. Beth doesn't understand, so Felicia
spells it out for her. Sex makes men stupid. They say things in the dark
they can barely remember come sunrise. She tells Beth to ask questions
when Paul is - she can barely bring herself to utter the word - 'spent'.
Beth understands, and prepares to leave. Felicia tells her that sex
makes women stupid, too. They start feeling things that they have no
business feeling. As Beth leaves, Mary Alice tells us that if Beth is
stupid enough to fall in love with Paul Young, Felicia will have to
punish them both.

Wisteria Lane is getting ready for Thanksgiving. Grace and her parents
are coming for dinner, and Gaby has promised them their traditional
Mexican Thanksgiving feast. She informs Carlos that since he's the big
culture buff, this is his dinner to make.

Renee asks Lynette what their plans are for turkey day. Lynette accepts
before Renee can even extend the invitation. She'll take a side order of
'punch in the face', if that's what it takes to get her out of cooking
on Thanksgiving. Lynette asks if she can bring along Susan. Renee
grouses about the overtime, but she can use the kitchen help, so okay.
Lynette says no. As a friend, a guest. What does Renee have against
Susan anyway? Well, she's perky, and poor. It's a really bad
combination. But she can come.

Lynette tells Susan she's invited to Renee's for Thanksgiving. Susan is
pushing Paige around the house in her baby carriage, because every time
she stops, Paige erupts in tears. Lynette figures it's time for sleep
training. She and Susan have polar opposite ideas of how to handle
babies, when it comes to sleep.

Beth and Paul are having a post-sex chat. She makes up a story about
some woman at the store who told her that Paul killed Martha Huber
because she was blackmailing his wife. He jumps out of bed in anger,
talking about gossips. He tells her that Martha told him that she
couldn't trust a word Felicia said, due to her severe mental problems.
Felicia cut off her own fingers to frame him for murder.

Keith's mother shows up at Bree's, bearing flowers. She thanks Bree for
letting her off the hook and apologizes for being an ugly drunk. In her
defense, she's been going through some stuff lately. Her marriage has
been strained ever since Richard retired from the Army. Bree asks if
she's discussed it with him, but they can't even talk anymore. Trying to
pick out a movie Friday night turned into a three-hour screaming match.
Keith is the only thing they agree on, and he won't be at their house
for Thanksgiving. Bree promptly invites them over so they'll still be
with their son on Thanksgiving. Mary refuses at first but then
graciously accepts.

Susan joins Lynette for some iced tea while Paige cries. When Susan asks
if they shouldn't do something about Paige's unhappiness, Lynette
agrees, and shuts off the baby monitor. Susan excuses herself to get
some lemon, but actually goes in and picks up the baby. Lynette
apologizes because Susan is her friend, but she's the boss, and Susan is
getting paid to do this her way.

Tom shows up at Renee's, bearing pie. She shows up at the door wearing a
towel and a smile. She was hoping he was the cable guy, as she's
shooting for free premium channels. First he tries to leave with the
pie, because he's flustered, then he tries to hand it off, when it's
pretty obvious her hands are otherwise occupied. She says he probably
doesn't remember the last time he saw her in a towel, but Tom remembers
not only where she was, but exactly what the towel looked like. Renee
fishes for compliments. She's a bit vulnerable, since the divorce. He
tells her she looks incredible, and trips over a table in his hurry to
get out the door.

Bree and Keith finish making love, and she says "That reminds me, I
invited your parents for Thanksgiving dinner." He doesn't know what
about the past ten minutes made her say that, so she tells him she's
been working on the menu in her head. He's kind of sad that they won't
be alone for Thanksgiving, as he had the whole thing planned out.
They're going to enjoy each other's company solo next weekend. Bree says
she'll plan the whole thing. Keith asks her not to plan it "during".
When she goes downstairs to find them something to eat, he reaches in
the night table and opens an engagement ring jewelry box.

The Sanchez family arrives at the Solis home for dinner. When Carmen
says how good everything smells, Gaby tries to take partial credit.
Carlos quashes that by saying Gaby spent two hours on her hair, and told
him where the can opener is. So yeah. I guess they were both slaving
away. Gaby retorts with who set the table? "Juanita!" Under her
supervision, thank you very much! When Carlos takes a shot at Gaby being
proud of her culture, she asks him to translate to Spanish, "No sex for
a month."

Gaby forgot to pick up the pies. Carlos' whole "Where's the can opener"
bit threw her off-schedule. She refuses to go get them now, as she has
had a glass of wine. Hector offers to drive her. Carlos thanks him and
tells Gaby to lose the attitude. This is her screw-up, not his.

When Susan and MJ arrive at Renee's, there's a chalk line on the
sidewalk. "No kids beyond this point." The kids' table is in the
driveway. Renee did have it in the street, but the cops made her move
it. The Scavos arrive, and Susan wonders where the other half of the
clan is. The twins are babysitting Paige. They can pick her up if she's
still crying after 20 minutes. Tom quips that that's if they can hear
her over the football game.

Karen and her husband show up at Bree's. She forgot that last year, she
told them that they didn't belong in Pancake Castle on Thanksgiving, and
they should join her next year. She almost turns them away, but she
feels bad and invites them in. Keith walks in, trailed by his parents
who are arm-in-arm; fighting.

Hector and Gaby are stuck in traffic, and they haven't even gotten the
pies yet. Hector wants to skip the pies. Gaby tells him to drive on the
shoulder. He tells her it's against the law, but she insists. Of course
the cops see them, and they are pulled over. When the officer calls Gaby
"ma'am", she views that as police brutality. Hector has his
registration, but no license. The officer asks if Hector is a citizen of
the United States, and Gaby goes off on him. She loses steam when she
checks his name plate and finds out his last name is Martinez. Hector
looks sadly at her. He doesn't have a license. He's not in this country
legally.

Carmen and Carlos are sitting outside watching the kids play when she
pulls up in his truck. Carmen is very upset. She has to go clear out the
house before the police show up. She has relatives in Mexico, she will
go there. Hector will be on a bus back to Mexico by tomorrow. She
doesn't know when Gaby will see Grace again. Grace says goodbye to Gaby,
and they leave.

When Susan goes to check with the kids, she finds that Paige is crying,
and has been for quite some time. She heads for the Scavo house and
rescues Paige since the twins are wrapped up in their game.

The bickering Wagners are fighting over retirement at Thanksgiving
dinner with Bree. Keith and Karen try to talk about cranberry sauce, in
order to change the subject. Mary refers to Richard's tours of duty as
"traipsing around the world." He remembers traipsing through Iraq. Bree
asks how Iraq was, and he tells her that when he thinks about it now? It
doesn't seem so bad. Bree tries another tack, and asks Mary what her
hobbies are. She says Bree should ask Richard. They've been married 35
years, she'd be curious to see if he knows even one thing she likes to
do. Richard says "Bitch?" Keith points out that they are guests in
someone's home, and it would be nice if they could comport themselves as
such. Mary tells Bree this is what they talked about. Bree told her she
should tell Richard exactly how she feels. This is how she feels. She
wants a divorce. Richard is happy to oblige. As the four of them walk
away from the dinner, Karen tells Roy "And you didn't want to come."

Beth and Paul are having an intimate family dinner. She tells him she
loves the stuffing. It's Paul's mother's recipe. They talk about how
Beth never had Thanksgiving after her dad left, because her mom said
they had nothing left to be thankful for. Paul asks if they never had
company, and when she says no, he says that's too bad. Upon further
reflection, Beth remembers inviting a boy from her class over for
dinner, only she forgot to tell her mom until Thanksgiving morning.
Felicia started screaming at her, that boys are only after one thing.
When he knocked at the door, she wouldn't let Beth answer it. They just
sat there, listening to him knock. Paul says Beth's mother sounds like a
very unhappy woman. Beth says as a child, she was completely unaware.
But now she realizes how damaged Felicia is. Paul asks if that's why he
has yet to meet her, and Beth says no, she just never thought they'd
have that much in common. Paul says well, there is one thing. They both
love Beth. Beth says she's glad she waited this long to have a real
Thanksgiving. Because now, she actually has something to be thankful for.

Lynette brings plates for her kids. MJ asks if he can have some, and
Lynette wonders why Susan didn't bring him any. She thought they were
playing football together. MJ says he hasn't seen Susan since she kicked
the ball down to the Scavo house. Lynette heads for Susan, who comes
around the other way and drops Paige in her bassinet. She is almost able
to escape without detection, but Lynette catches her and confronts her.
Susan says Lynette's sleep system is a crappy system, for lazy moms. She
doesn't care that Lynette says it's working. Lynette says that Susan
only has one child every 18 years. She, on the other hand, has five
under the same roof. So if she needs to get Paige on a schedule to keep
her life from spiraling out of control, that's what she is going to do.
Susan quits. Lynette thinks it's a little extreme, but Susan says she's
tired of crying. MJ crying, her crying - the baby is just the straw that
broke the camel's back. On top of it, it's Thanksgiving and she can't
even talk to Mike. Lynette volunteers her phone, but Susan says it's
very expensive. Lynette says well, it's either that or self-soothing,
and she knows how much Susan likes that.

Gaby tries to talk Carmen into staying. They hired Bob to defend Hector.
Carmen says no. They always knew this day would come. There is a plan,
and she's sticking to it. Grace is packing. Gaby tells Carmen not to be
proud. She needs to stay with the Solis'. They're family. She's afraid
she'll never see Grace again, and Carmen should be afraid too. She may
never see Juanita again. Carmen lands sobbing in her arms.

Renee joins Tom on the couch with a drink. He's wondering where Lynette
is. They make idle chitchat. She can't believe she's alone for the first
time. Tom doesn't think it will last, but she counters. People used to
say she's a beautiful woman, now they tack on "for my age". Tom scoffs,
as he just saw her in a towel. Did she get her premium channel? Yes she
did. And high speed internet, as well! They clink glasses. She knows
there was a time when she could have had any guy she wanted, but she did
not choose wisely. She describes Tom when she says what direction she
should have gone. She also hands it to Lynette. She sure knows how to
pick 'em. Lynette joins them. Renee says they were just talking about
her, and it was complimentary.

Bree knocks on Keith's door. He invites her in and lets her know Richard
is there, in the other room. He says Richard is fine, but he's freaked
out. What's the point of marriage, if it can fall apart that quickly.
Richard points out that it didn't. It's been a long time coming, he just
wasn't around to see it. He shouldn't be cynical. Keith says "Really?
why. Because I see a lot of divorced people in this room." After a
pained silence, he apologizes to Bree. She says marriage can work, and
when it does, it's terrific. Don't give up. She still feels it can work,
even for her. And she can't believe she said that in front of her
boyfriend and his father. Keith invites her for a walk, hoping he can
still salvage one happy Thanksgiving memory from this mess. Keith goes
to grab his jacket, and Richard and Bree talk for a second. He tells her
that he knew she was special from the moment he met her.

Beth visits Felicia, telling her that Paul still insists he didn't do
it. Felicia thinks it's too soon. Beth hasn't gained his trust yet. She
wants Beth to join a wine of the month club and get Paul drunk on a
regular basis. Then he'll talk. Beth asks if Felicia ever considered the
possibility that Paul didn't kill Aunt Martha. Felicia says "No. Have
you?" Beth says nobody actually saw him do it. Felicia flinches as she
realizes Beth doesn't just accept her word as gospel anymore. Felicia
orders Beth to pack her things and get out of Paul's house. She refuses,
and Felicia freaks out. The guard hauls her away.

Bob talks to Gaby, Carlos and Carmen. He says Carmen has to either turn
herself in, or disappear. It's too late for Hector. As for Grace, Carmen
says she was born here. She's an American citizen. Gaby serves the girls
breakfast. Grace says she loves waffles, and she wishes she could have
them every day. Gaby tells her maybe there's a way they can make that
happen.
