Secrets That I Never Want to Know - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
After the dinner party that night at Gaby's house, Bree, Lynette, Renee and Susan transport the dead body of Gaby's stepfather to the woods where they dig a grave and lower it into the hole.
They discuss what happened with each other, nervous and frightened, when they hear a cell phone ringing on the dead man's person. One of them reaches down into the grave, silences the ringing and
plans to dispose of it later. The women decide that they cannot ever tell anyone what transpired that night and go home.

Bree is relaxing in bed with her boyfriend, Detective Chuck Vance, but she knows that she cannot tell him about the murder. That would involve her friends and she can't possibly let Chuck
know anything about it. He is oblivious to it. Chuck suggests they spend the weekend in the mountains together, but Bree says Gaby's cookout is this weekend and they can't possibly miss it. Chuck
wants to know why Bree's friends are avoiding him, he thinks they dont like him. Bree knows its really because they feel guilty about the murder and don't want him to know anything about it.
Bree invites Tom to Gaby's cookout, she says he will see then that her friends really do like him. He accepts, reluctantly.

Tom and Lynette have separated, Tom spending nights in the apartment above the garage. The two do not want their children to know just yet and scramble to keep it a secret. The kids notice
their parents acting strangely but seem to accept it. Tom and Lynette realize that they will have to tell the kids soon, but Lynette says to hold off until next week because Gaby's big cookout is
this weekend. Tom says he understands, but it will come out soon.

Juanita makes waffles for Carlos and Gaby, bursting into their bedroom when they are just about to make love. Carlos snaps at his daughter, telling her to get out! Gaby scolds him as Juanita storms out.
The two discuss the murder. Carlos wants to confess to Father Dugan, he is seeking absolution. Gaby says that if it will make him feel better, that she will support him.

Mike is awakened in his bedroom by Susan cleaning the windows. He comments that she never seems to sleep or rest lately, how come? She says she has so much energy, then says she is going for
a run, abruptly leaves the room, leaving a bewildered and confused Mike. She jogs to the grave, looks it over. It seems to be blending in nicely with its surroundings now.

On the street, the ladies are watching new neighbor Ben moving in. They are commenting on his good points when Ben speaks up behind them. They introduce themselves and pleasantries are
exchanged. Renee seems especially smitten by the man.

At church, Carlos steps into the confessional booth, begins his confession only to hear a strange voice coming from the other side. He pushes open the little window only to find a new priest. The man tells
Carlos that Father Dugan is on sabbatical and he is there to take the Father's place. Carlos says he cannot possibly confess to a priest he does not know and gets up to leave. Gaby tells him to stay, but
her husband leaves. She is not sure what to do now.

Susan is working as a substitute teacher today in Juanita's classroom when Juanita notices that the class hamster, named Cupcake, has died in its' cage. Susan realizes that she will have
to bury the little critter, takes the class outside to bury the rodent in the school garden. She flashes back to the midnight burial of Gaby's stepfather, loses her calm for a little as she buries the hamster. Juanita
comforts her, telling her that Cupcake was a bad hamster anyway and that is is not Susan's fault that it died. Wiping her tears away, Susan leads the class back to the classroom and resumes teaching.

Gaby turns up at Susan's house with drinks in hand for both of them, tells her that Juanita told her mother about Susan crying about the hamster. They discuss the murder and Gaby asks
Susan to keep the murder to herself, lest all involved and their families suffer. Susan says that she will try hard to do that.

Bree makes Chuck's favorite cookies as he tells her about his day. He had found a dead body in a warehouse across town and the perps had left the victim's car there. That was how the police
were able to track down the murderers. That gets Bree to thinking about the dead man's car. Where is it? She and Gaby will have to locate it. Later on that day, the two women use the dead man's car keys to
find his car, finding out that it is a stick shift and neither one of them really knows how to drive one. Gaby behind the wheel, the vehicle jerks down the street, catching the eye of Chuck Vance who sounds
his siren, pulls them over and is told a fish story. Gaby claims her drunken Aunt Shirley left her car at Gaby's house the night before and Gaby is just driving it back home to Shirley's house. Shirley does
not exist, but Chuck doesn't know that. He drives in the direction the women point, finds some chewing tobacco and a ball cap in the front seat, wondering who it really belongs to. Bravely,
Gaby grabs the chew, sticks some in her mouth, and soon becomes ill. She has Chuck pull into an alley, is sick into a nearby barrel. Meanwhile, Bree is sitting alone in the car when a young
carjacker hops in, demands she get out. She does so, seeing an opportunity to get ride of the car once and for all! The thief roars off, leaving the three standing there with their mouths open.
Chuck calls his friend Bob to take them all home.

A sexily dressed Renee visits Ben at his house, pouring on the charm, asking him to bed. He pauses, then says thanks, but no thanks. She leaves, looking sheepish.

Gaby returns to church to find Father Dugan putting his luggage into an airport shuttle van. He tells her he is going to Rwanda to dig wells for the poor. She tells him about Carlos needing to confess
something. She hijacks the van, hopping into the driver's seat, telling him it wont take a moment to detour to her house so that he can hear Carlos' confession. Unbeknownst to both, there is a young couple
in the very back seat, waiting for a ride to their honeymoon. The couple pop their heads up, tell Gaby about their upcoming trip, say they can't be late. Nevertheless, Gaby takes the van
to her house where Father Dugan sits down and talks to Carlos who finds he cannot, in good conscience, tell the Father anything because he knows it will implicate all involved, hurt the innocent.
Later that evening, Carlos and Gaby console each other.

That night, Lynette has a bad nightmare, wakes up and runs across the driveway to where Tom is sleeping. They end up spending the night together. In the morning, Tom tells her they really
need to work on their marriage to which she replies that last night was just about her being scared by a nightmare, not about their getting back together. Tom is shocked and dismayed, scolds her.
The kids walk in on their argument and Tom tells them they are separated.

At Gaby's cookout, the women are outside while the men are inside, watching a game. The women discuss the murder and Susan says she wants to tell Mike because he is really suspicious. Bree
tells her that she cannot say anything to Mike. An argument begins and the women end up in the pool. When the men run outside to find out what is going on, Bree brushes it off saying that
they were just searching for her lost earring. The women then realize that they can never ever tell anyone about the murder.

That night, after the party, Bree finds an anonymous handwritten note in her mailbox that says: I know what you did and I am watching you. She is thoroughly shocked. Who could it be?
