The Art of Making Art - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Lynette and Tom are at counseling, supposedly discussing their estranged marriage, in actuality, they are arguing about his new girlfriend, Jane. They also talk about ending the
marriage since Tom intones that he is unhappy in it, wants to explore his options. Lynette throws up her hands as if to see, I told you so, to the counselor and announces that
she is going to begin dating since Tom has decided to do it without even informing her. She flounces out of the room without a backward glance.

At the PTA meeting that night, Gaby is fashionably late, as usual, which does not sit well with the other PTA members. They are quite angry with her. She announces to the room
that they will have to begin planning for Teacher Appreciation Night, which is to be held soon. The other women make excuses and leave. Gaby is left to plan the whole event on her own.

The Reverend Sykes knocks on Bree's door, reproaches her for not showing up for church for five weeks in a row. She apologizes, saying that she feels she has lost her connection
to God. After commiserating with Bree for a bit, the Reverend suggests she get in touch with her new British neighbor, Ben, who is running a homeless shelter. Perhaps Ben could use her
services there. She agrees to do so.

Susan, in Andre Zeller's art class, is talking to a sympathetic classmate about the tragedies in her life, which she tries to express in paint, in her art. Andre ushers in a nude young male model
for the students to sketch. A giggling and embarrassed Susan cant seem to stop from laughing, to which Andre quips, has she not ever seen a penis before? She shuts up and begins to sketch.
Andre says, next class, everyone will be painting in the nude.

Bree talks to neighbor Ben at his homeless shelter: can he use her to help there? He begins to tell her about his plan for low income housing when he gets a phone call. He excuses himself and she
wanders away into the kitchen, finding a cook working on the upcoming meal. She asks if she can help. He says she can be prep cook, hands her a big can and a can opener. She sets to work.

At the next PTA meeting, Gaby apologizes to the women, trots out her complete beauty team, offers their services to which the women eagerly agree. They undergo beauty treatments
and really enjoy the day.

At Renee's urging, Lynette signs up for online dating, encourages her to go with her to a local bar where they can meet available men. They make a date for later in the week.

Mike finds a nude Susan making breakfast for him in their kitchen and he is shocked. She tells him that Andre's students will paint in the nude today, to which Tom approves. She wants to quit
the class, but he urges her to keep attending. At class, she walks in nude, sees that everyone else is dressed, pulls a canvas in front to cover herself. Andre asks if she got his email saying that the school wouldnt
allow nudity in class. Everyone else seems to have gotten it. No, Susan says, she never got it. She accuses him of trying to humiliate her, tells him she quits and stomps out.

Bree, at the homeless shelter, is whipping up five star meals to which college students are flocking, making the homeless feel unwelcome there. The Reverend Sykes shows up, tells Bree that she is
pushing the homeless away. Ashamed, Bree demands that all the college students leave, that they dont appear to be homeless or hungry. They grab up their computers and cell phones and leave in
a huff. Bree apologizes to Ben and to the Reverend, slinks back into the kitchen, vows to do better. Ben tells her that she has panache, that she should help him push his low income housing plan
through at the next city council meeting; she agrees to do so.

Andre shows up at Susan's house, asking that she come back as a student. He says he knows that she is hiding something, and he vows to pull it out of her, that she has great potential as an artist.
Flattered and a bit confused, she agrees to return.

That night, at the planning meeting, Gaby whirls in, late again. Her fellow PTA members are disgusted with her behavior, tell her so, blow her off when she tries to designate each one
a task. Not fazed, she calls husband Carlos for help, asking him to come over. She does not know that he is completely drunk. He shows up, very unsteady on his feet, passes out at her feet.
Immediately, the women tell Gaby not to worry, begin to make phone calls and plans for the event, which is now only two hours away. The event comes off very well, and the PTA members are
pleased. Gaby apologizes once more for her rudeness and thanks them for pulling it all together in such a short time.

Lynette and Renee, dressed to the nines, walk into the night club and sit down, order fancy drinks. They look about at the available men; Renee doesnt seem impressed. She quickly becomes bored, says her
goodbyes to Lynette and leaves her to the tender ministrations of the bartender. One by one, some of the men approach her, and turn her off. Disgusted with the available pickings, she decides to leave, runs into what she thinks is the valet, asks for her car. He is just someone her age, looking for a new friend. They chat a while, decide to go into the club, have a few drinks, see where this might take them.
