After the mysterious death of Mary Alice Young, the seemingly perfect lives of her four neighbors and best friends -- Bree Van De Kamp, Lynette Scavo, Susan Mayer, and Gabrielle Solis -- are exposed. As the tales of their lives are told by Mary Alice's now elevated perspective, Susan tries to win the heart of her neighbor, Mike Delfino, before Edie Britt, whose love life is the hot topic of Wisteria Lane gossip. Gabrielle tries to hide her secret affair with a much younger man. Bree struggles with the realization of her failed marriage while Lynette deals with the pressures of being a full-time mother of four. As the tales of these four women are told, the mystery surrounding Mary Alice's life and death are slowly unfolded, with a trail of lies and deceit twisting more and more as the truth begins to come out.
