Practically Perfect - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Deborah is questioning a nanny and it seems that she's interrogating. They go through plenty of different potential nannies. They meet an Irish woman that seems to get on with Harrison very well. Her name is Sonia. He thinks she is practically perfect in every way. He loves her and they decide on using her. Deb leaves for work and it is just Dexter and the kid at this point. He says he feels emptiness and while it was never a problem, he is there now. He is looking into Boyd Fowler and all of his murder victims.

At the station, they are talking about one of their cases. Deb doesn't seem to think that their potential suspect is the murderer of the voodoo skull victim. Batista's fight keeps coming up and his wife wants to know what really happened. He is vague and says that it is settled. Dexter is talking to a therapist about his son and the trauma of Rita's death. His cognitive abilities are just developing now and she says there is no way that he will remember this experience with his mother. She says that the most important thing to do right now is take care of himself and do something for Dexter. He agrees to doing that.

Deb and her partner are canvasing the place where the murder happened and no one wants to get involved with the area. This is a Venezuelan neighborhood while Batista is Cuban. This case is called the Santa Muerte killer case. Dexter calls his nanny to let her know something that is on the checklist. She tells him that she has it all figured out and that everything is going to be okay.

It is decided that they are asking Officer Manzon to help since it is her neighborhood. This is where they learn that one of the men that had given her information had been found murdered at his business. There was even a cat that hung out in and drank the blood from the victim's puddle. Officer Manzon felt really bad and really guilty and Deb says that it is part of the job and it isn't her fault.

Dexter has decided to take the advice of the crisis counselor. He starts on his trip following Fowler. He is seen by Fowler at a eating place and he goes up to talk to him. Dexter tells Fowler that his name is Daryl Tucker. He is unemployed and he loves the outdoors. Fowler decides that he may be a good person to hire for a position that the dead animal pick-up department that is up.

He officially has twenty four hours to get himself set up to kill Fowler. He wants to kill him at an old tourist welcome center. Harry is not fond of this idea whatsoever. He is not pleased that Dexter wants to do this in broad daylight. Dexter ignores it because he feels that he is going to be isolated so he won't get caught. He thinks this will bring him back the way that he is used to being so that he can take care of all of the kids.

Quinn is furthering his own personal "case" against Dexter/Kyle Butler. He feels that the sketch looks an awful lot like Dexter. So, he decides he wants to get a meeting with Arthur's family so that they can tell them if Dexter is the man or not. Elsewhere, Batista may be more in trouble for that fight from last week than he thought he would be in. It turns out that he's about to be investigated by internal affairs and maybe even charged with assault with a deadly weapon. It turns out that the fellow officer he fought ended up with internal bleeding from this rumble and is definitely filing charges.

Dexter has finally gotten Fowler where he wants him to be. We think it is all good and he is going to get in his kill fix but no--of course not. He did get Fowler shot up with his go to drug but then Fowler got him with a tranquilizer gun. Dexter comes to in an ambulance and Fowler is right by his side. He apparently says that he passed out from shock and doesn't tell them the truth at all. He clearly has other plans. They get into the hospital and go their separate ways. Fowler waits and then goes and grabs a very scary tool and goes to find Dexter. He's gone, though.

Fowler goes home and Dexter is waiting for him. This turns out to be something that Dexter isn't well versed in--improvisation. This turns out to be fairly messy. He doesn't wear gloves at first and when he does put together some gear it turns out to be an apron, dish washing gloves, and newspaper (instead of plastic). He stabs Fowler and waits for the feeling of peace and it never comes. He doesn't feel good about it and nothing has changed.

That is when Dexter hears someone or something in the closet. It turns out to be who was going to be the next victim (played by Julia Stiles) of Fowler. Now Dexter is panicking over the fact that she must have seen everything that went down. The scene and episode closes as Dexter holds her in his arms when she passes out while trying to escape, she seems to be injured and now Dexter must figure out how he is going to fix this situation.
