First Blood - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The episode opens with Dexter who has Harrison at a play date of some sort. It seems that Harrison has accidentally caused a tiny cut on his friend's face. He didn't really see it happen, but everyone thinks it was definitely Harrison that did it. After this, Dexter has to deal with the Lumen situation.

Dexter is trying to get Lumen to go back to her family so that she can be safe and happy. He doesn't want her to be alone and he wants her to be around people that actually have feelings for her. He buys her a plane ticket that goes straight to Minneapolis, which is where she is from. She's not happy about that. She feels like he really is just trying to get rid of her because she's just one giant inconvenience. He really wants her to move on from all of this bad stuff. She loses it and storms off after conveniently grabbing the ticket before she leaves.

There is a victim from last week that had his throat slit, but was able to be helped. Quinn is on "leave" for whatever reason and can't help Deb with this case even though he is her partner. This means that Batista gets to go with her to talk to the young man that had his throat slit. He and his mother both speak Spanish and Batista has to translate, anyway. It seems that both the mother and the victim aren't really hip to much information about the murderer, but the victim does remember that he had a tattoo on his hand. They ask that he draws it and he does.

Dexter is at work and he's looking over Boyd's criminal record to see if there are any extra people tied to it besides the victims. He needs to figure out who he was working with and get rid of them before they end up killing Lumen or she ends up getting sent to jail for killing them. He finds nothing at that moment. Batista and Deb decide to talk to Masuka about tattoos since he-shockingly-is quite the expert and has a few of his own.

Dexter goes to do some of his own investigating over at Boyd's house. When he walks in he realizes that someone broke in already. He sees blood and everything. This person went through all of the files that Boyd had. Dexter notices blood on one of the files and decides to test it to see who's it is. It turns out to be Lumen's fingerprint so obviously it was her. He gets worried and goes to check out what she was doing at her hotel room. She's long gone, but there is information all over the wall. Plenty of information to put pieces together. She was doing her own investigation and Dexter knows that that cannot be good.

Dexter finds a note that is from his cellmate and it is obvious that she assumes that he must be an accomplice. He needs to hurry up and find this guy before she does and take care of it. He safely assumes that he has to be an accomplice, too. The next morning, he and Lumen have breakfast and he tries to get information about the other men that kidnapped her. She isn't telling him much and he tells her that she really needs to stop before things go to hell in a handbasket. She gets angry and leaves, because things already are.

Batista is curious about Quinn taking time off. LaGuerta tells him that she really doesn't have control over when people take time off or not. She's really kind of flighty with him. He asks her if there is information that he is going to need to know in general and also about the case. She blows him off and says she's probably going to be late before leaving him behind in the dust at the station.

Dexter does some digging and realizes that he can find Brunner living where most sexual offenders go when they can't live anywhere else. He gets into some gear and then goes to the bridge. He talks to Brunner and behaves like he too is a fellow sex offender. He finally gets him to a point where he can put the needle in his neck and brings him back to his kill station that he had already had set up for the other one. Dexter notices that he has an ankle bracelet. This means that he wasn't involved and that he was very close to killing someone who wasn't involved.

He goes home and walks in on Deb and Quinn. Things are real weird between the both of them. The both of them being Dexter and Quinn. Quinn realizes that he has gloves in his back pocket and is pretty suspicious about it due to it being Miami and all. Quinn leaves and Dexter asks her about him. Deb says that they are not romantically involved, they are just having sex.

Batista is at home waiting for LaGuerta. He wonders why she was late and she makes up more lies. He's still suspicious. He looks at the texts on her phone and there is a meeting set up and he thinks that she is really cheating on him. Dexter goes and sees what Lumen is up to and the woman says that she's gone and going in the direction of the bridge where the guy will be.

She goes to the bridge and is about to shoot Brunner, but then Dexter shows up and grabs the gun from her and prevents it. He tells her that she had the wrong guy and he tells her again to go home. She says fine, she'll go. Elsewhere, Deb and the uniform go to talk to all of the other people that took the maximum amount from the neighborhood ATM and were really freaked out while doing so. They go to the first place and there are two dead people that are rotten with bugs crawling all over, maggots and all.

Batista is elsewhere thinking that he is busting his wife cheating on him with McCourt. He gets hype, but they tell him that they really are just in the middle of a bust. They are about to really get into it when Deb calls and tells them that they are going to need a lot of help. Deb figures out that the tattoo was really a local club stamp. Dexter is there, but then he goes to take Lumen to her flight. He tells her his name in full. He offers up his ear if she ever needs to talk about what happened.

Quinn is getting one of his old cop friends to look into Dexter further. He is catching up. Lumen also never left Miami.
