Jordan Chase is onto Dexter and Lumen. Dexter moves Harrison out of Miami and Lumen to a new place temporarily, until they all are no longer in danger, but Liddy is already on to Lumen and Dexter. Lumen starts to get anxious and wants to dole out some justice already. Dexter shows Lumen a photo of Emily Birch, the woman who got away. It turns out that she was not only the first victim, but that when it began with her, they were all at summer camp, and it was twenty years prior to today.
Back at the Department, Dexter learns that the squad already is on the case, which sets Dexter back a little bit, forcing him to plan to act quickly. LaGuerta and Batista are still at odds with one another, or rather Batista is still angry with LaGuerta, not to mention untrusting of her. Deb and Quinn go to Jordan Chase’s workplace to interview him.
Emily is resistant at first when Dexter and Lumen go to her house to try to speak with her. But when Lumen is alone the next time she goes there, Emily will speak with her, because she can do so now that she is speaking with her alone, one rape victim to another. It is here that we find out that the real name of Jordan Chase is actually Eugene Grier. During a walk with him on some trail, she ended up passing out, and when she came to, friends of Jordan (or Eugene) were raping her, though it took some convincing from Jordan. The fifth boy in the photo is revealed to be a banker named Alex Tilden. When he is questioned, he denies knowing any of the boys in the photo, only ever having heard of Jordan Chase because he is a popular motivational speaker.
Dexter arrives at the residence of Cole Harmon, meeting the rest of the team there while they search the place for anything they can find that will be used as evidence. Thirteen DVDs are discovered. Later, Dexter steals the thirteenth disc, knowing that that one will feature Lumen on it, and she has to be kept a secret from the department, so that she and Dexter can get to everyone that raped her, including Jordan Chase, before they do.
Back where Dexter and Lumen are staying, they talk more. Lumen falls apart in a display of desperation. Dexter is back at the precinct, and Debra tells him that she believes someone is taking out Jordan’s people, because they are disappearing (or “getting disappeared”) with every bit of their information and identity still totally intact. Stan Liddy finds himself at the precinct (because he is now working as an official informant for the department, and formerly, an “unofficial” informant for Quinn). He appears to be “leaving a note for Joey” (also known as Detective Quinn). What is really happening is that he fills out a request for surveillance equipment.
Dexter lectures Lumen for leaving the safehouse, because it is not safe to be out in public right now, but he is interested in the information that Lumen acquired from her interview with Emily Birch. Lumen tells Dexter that she wants to be a part of this in full from here on out.
Dexter and Lumen make the necessary preparations for the next capture and kill. Stan Liddy is involved in a personal stake out, which reveals exactly this to him. Lumen discovers a room that she then suggests should be their kill room. Dexter thinks to himself that maybe it is better to work with a partner.
The next thing we see is Emily Birch speaking with Jordan Chase. It appears as though Jordan has her on a leash, controlling every move that she makes. He assures her that she did exactly the right thing by what she told the police. He tells her, “We have a bond. You made me what I am today.” Jordan Chase later goes to the precinct for DNA testing. His lawyer initially objects to this, but Jordan insists, so as to clear his name. He is led by Dexter to where he can take a DNA sample by way of cotton swab to the inside of his cheek. There is an intense exchange between the two, in which Jordan tells Dexter he thinks Dexter still needs more help, but Dexter tells him he no longer is in need of his services. Dexter realizes that Jordan Chase is on to him, but he does not care, because he knows the time is coming soon for Jordan to meet his own end. Tensions are very high during this scene, and it is surely going to amount to something very big.
Later, Jordan Chase is seen on the phone with Alex, who is very much in panic mode. Jordan instructs Alex to stay calm, and to stick to the plan, emphasizing the importance of this in particular. This is clearly a set up, and it is obvious that he is planning on throwing Alex under the bus, letting him take the fall. This never comes to fruition, as Dexter and Lumen are already in the house. When Alex gets in, playing on the television is the DVD of Lumen being raped and tortured. Lumen confronts Alex, and when he tries to escape, Dexter catches him and doses him with his needle. They set him up in the kill room, and they have a quick talk, Dexter confronting him with the photos of Lumen being tortured. Lumen enters the room and can see that Alex recognizes her, even though he tries to play the innocent, oblivious victim of a plot that he had no intentions of actually carrying out, that he was manipulated and forced into it. This is not enough for the two of them. Lumen does the honors this time, thus christening her new life--her first kill.
Morgan and Quinn arrive at the residence of Alex Tilden. Morgan discovers a foot print. She suddenly begins to construct a scenario in her head, which she lets Quinn in on. The scenario involves a vigilante of some sort, like before, only this time she starts to wonder if this vigilante might be a previous victim of theirs.
The last thing we see is Dexter and Lumen having sex and lying there in bed, suggesting a solidified relationship of some sort.
