Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight here. Scroll down; spoilers, obviously.

Not too thrilled about Jimmy Smits joining the cast, but I'm excited to see Dexter move away from Harry's code this season.

I've only seen season 1, but 3 looks pretty good.

I can't wait. September can't come soon enough.

I don't know if Jimmy Smits will be a good addition or not, but he seems to do well in the lawyer/cop roles.

My husband and I have been huge fans of the show and Michael C Hall's character. Now it seems the writing and directing have changed and given us a trite, amateur dialog but that's not the worst of it. Jimmy Smits, a good actor who we enjoyed as "Bobby" is cast in a stupid role, in fact the whole storyline has gone down the toilet. Jimmy plays his character well enough, but what - we keep asking, "why don't they just get a room?" This improbable relationship (between 2 men, let alone the ice-cold serial killer who was alone is his world, and whom we all loved) is nauseating. Gag me! Get back to the cleverness of the past scripts and writers. We are not looking to see Dexter's "other" side and how he copes with reality. We already know he copes with reality by staying out of it! And we love it! Please don't insult us anymore with these sappy scripts. We miss Dexter. (We liked the evil Lyla too.) Why do you think he shot up to 'rock star' status so fast? We loved him. Now you've mussed it all up. Too bad.

First, welcome to the site, pamie!

I totally agree with you -- well, except I hated Lyla. The show is still enjoyable to me, but I'm not loving the direction it took this season. I was expecting some darker stuff, but it's the complete opposite. The scenes with Deb are more satisfying to me at this point. It'll be interesting to see how this season ends and sets up the next one.

I didn't like Jimmy Smits character at first either but now I like him very much. But I do miss "the evil Lyla" also.

Lyla added a lot to Dex's personality he's starting to trust more people around with him with his secret. It almost cost him of course.
