Dexter

Dexter

Based loosely on novels by author Jeff Lindsay, Dexter follows the life of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a charismatic blood spatter analyst who works in the forensics at the Miami Metro Police Department. On the outside, Dexter seems like the perfect guy -- he has a sister, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), that adores him and a steady girlfriend, Rita (Julie Benz), with two kids that look up to him. However, what they don't know is that Dexter moonlights as a serial killer, only he isn't your typical killer. Basing his life on the teachings of his foster father, Dexter only kills people who truly deserve it: he ensures that those who got away with horrible crimes will never kill again.

A wordy explanation of this show does not do it justice, you just have to see it to understand. This show is one of the best on television. I dumped cinemax to get showtime just so I can watch this show. I dont know how, but they actually get better every episode you watch. They started out really strong, and I was expecting it to go downhill over time, but it just keeps getting better. This last episode, #10, was simply incredible. The very best one yet. If you only have time for one show per week, it should be Dexter. It will blow your mind. Read more

I just dont have words to describe the show, it was so good that it made me find the book and read it. It turned out that the show is ten times better than the book. The book was boring, slow and nothing like the show, the show has more characters, which are more sophisticated and it really grabs you. Read more

Recaps
7x12: Surprise, Motherfucker! recap: The episode begins with Hannah’s cruising around the ladies jail to meet Dexter for a visit. Hannah asks why he turned her in when he said he loved her. He says she poisoned Deb. Hannah seems to admit it and says “because she tried to keep us apart”. Hannah tells him she’ll be behind bars forever. She says he should have chosen her. Dexter reminds her that Deb’s his sister. Dexter tells her if there was any other way to keep Deb safe, he would have done it. He’s clearly distraught and tells her he misses her a lot. She tells him it’s not too late that if the pen disappears, she can be free. She says they can run away together... read more.

7x11: Do You See What I See? recap: The episode begins with Dexter mentioning the fact that he's never really thought about his future. He gets a call from the Department of Corrections telling him Estrada, the mastermind behind his mother's murder, is up for parole. Dexter tells Hannah he is one of the men responsible who is still living and apparently Dexter is planning to do something about it. Dexter later sits in on Estrada's parole hearing but says nothing, as he possibly wants Estrada released on parole, so he can deal with him. Estrada is granted parole. Angel in the meantime tells Debra he's found Arlene, who has battled drug addiction and at various points has lost custody of her kids... read more.

7x10: The Dark... Whatever recap: The episode begins at the scene of the fifth arson attack in five weeks, this time a six-year old and his mother. Witnesses claim the suspect was enormous. The same accelerant was used and the word "Bobby" was again scrawled into a wall. Dexter is suspicious of the arson investigator, Phil Bosso. Dexter tells Hannah about "The Phantom," and admits being frustrated he's promised Debra he wouldn't take any cases from the police. He tells her about feeling like the Dark Passenger doesn't give him a choice. Hannah doesn't seem to understand. Her father, Clint, shows up unexpectedly. Hannah hasn't seen him since he went to prison for writing bad checks... read more.

7x9: Helter Skelter recap: The episode begins with Dexter taking Hannah out on his boat. She's deathly afraid of the water from the looks of it. She explains that it’s a product of her father throwing her into a lake when she was little. She tells a story of him not letting her out until she nearly died. Just then, Dexter gets a call about a body. Isaak's bodyguard tells him that the Brotherhood has sent two men to kill him and they are probably already in the country. Isaak seems particularly concerned about the skill of the men. He calls one of them who happens to be shopping for a sniper rifle at the time. He tells Isaak he's already accepted the contract, so there is nothing he can do about it now... read more.

7x8: Argentina recap: The episode begins and Dexter wakes up to Hannah making breakfast. Dexter notices Hannah’s outdated calendar, it’s from the year she was with Wayne. She tells him it’s about the photo of Argentina on it, which is her dream spot. Dexter gets a buzz from Debra and he admits to Hannah that his sister is the lieutenant who grilled her. She’s not thrilled about it, but tells him she’d like to see him again. Dexter comes knocking on Debra’s door. He asks her if she really wants him to kill Hannah. She tells him she’s vetted her according to his rules, but is frustrated because someone cleaned the Hannah notes off Price’s computer... read more.
