Episode Notes
This episode marks the final regular cast appearance of Billie Piper (Rose Tyler) on the series.

This episode marks the second time Daleks have been given names, the first was in the classic serial "The Evil of the Daleks," only those Daleks were installed with the Human Factor by the Doctor and given independence and conscience. The Daleks here are just as evil, cold, and unrelenting as any member of their race.

Although they previously appeared in "The Five Doctors" and "Army of Ghosts", this is the first time that the Daleks and the Cybermen have appeared in a scene together.

Peter Hawkins, who provided the voices of both the Daleks and the Cybermen in several of the early serials, died after a long illness the same day that this episode originally aired.

Episode Quotes
Cyber Leader: This broadcast is for humankind. Cybermen now occupy every land-mass on this planet. But you need not fear. Cybermen will remove fear. Cybermen will remove sex and class and colour and creed. You will become identical. You will become like us.

Cyber Leader: I ordered surrender.
The Doctor: They're not taking instructions! Don't you understand? You're in every street, you're in their homes, you've got their children. Of course they're gonna fight!

(The Daleks have just killed Rajesh Singh)
Rose: You didn't need to kill him!
Black Dalek: Neither did we need him alive.

Dalek Thay: Identify yourself!
Cyberman: You will identify first...
Dalek Thay: State your identity!
Cyberman: You will identify first.
Dalek Thay: Identify!
Mickey Smith: It's like Steven Hawking meets a speaking clock.
Cyberman: Demands are illogical. You will modify!
Dalek Thay: Daleks do not take orders!
Cyberman: You have identified as Daleks.

The Doctor: (referring to Rose) She's answered, she's alive. Why haven't they killed her?
Jackie: Don't complain!

Cyberman: Our species are similar, though your design is inelegant.
Dalek: Daleks have no concept of elegance!
Cyberman: This is obvious. But consider, our technologies are compatible. Cybermen plus Daleks. Together, we could upgrade the universe.
Dalek: You propose an alliance?
Cyberman: This is correct.
Dalek: Request denied!
Cyberman: Hostile elements will be deleted.

Cyber Leader: Daleks, be warned. You have declared war upon the Cybermen.
Dalek Sec: This is not war. This is pest control!
Cyber Leader: We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?
Dalek Sec: Four.
Cyber Leader: You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?
Dalek Sec: We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You are superior in only one respect.
Cyber Leader: What is that?
Dalek Sec: You are better at dying.

Rose: Five million Cybermen, easy. One Doctor, now you’re scared.

Cyber Leader: You are proof.
The Doctor: Of what?
Cyber Leader: That emotions destroy you.
The Doctor: Yeah, I am. Mind you, I quite like hope. Hope's a good emotion. And here it comes...

Pete Tyler: Doctor... help us!
The Doctor: What?! Close the breach; stop the Cybermen; defeat the Daleks? Do you believe I can do that?
Pete Tyler: Yes.
The Doctor: Maybe that's all I need. Off we go then!

The Doctor: Jacqueline Andrea Suzette Tyler!
Pete Tyler: She's not my wife.
The Doctor: I was at the wedding. You got her name wrong.

Rose: If you... escaped the Time War, don’t you want to know what happened? What happened to the Emperor?
Dalek Sec: The Emperor survived!?!
Rose: 'Til he met me. 'Cause if these are going to be my last words, then you’re gonna listen. I met the Emperor. And I took the Time Vortex, and poured it into his head, and turned him into dust. D’you get that? The God of all Daleks. And I destroyed him.

The Doctor: (to Rose) How are you?
Rose: Oh...you know, same old.
The Doctor: Good. And Mickety... Mick... Mickey! Nice to see ya!
Mickey: You too, boss.
Dalek Jast: Social interaction will cease!

The Doctor: At last. The Cult of Skaro. I thought you were just a legend.
Rose: Who are they?
The Doctor: A secret order. Above and beyond the Emperor himself. Their job was to imagine. Think as the enemy thinks. Even dared to have names. All to find new ways of killing.

Rose: They said one touch from a time-traveller will wake it up.
The Doctor: Technology using the one thing Daleks can’t do. Touch. See, you’re inside your casing. Not feeling anything. Ever. From birth to death locked inside a cold metal cage. Completely alone. That explains your voice. No wonder you scream.

Pete Tyler: All those daft little plans of mine, they worked. Made me rich.
Jackie: I don’t care about that… how rich?
Pete Tyler: Very.
Jackie Tyler: I don’t care about that… how “very”?

The Doctor: Time Lord science. It's bigger on the inside.
Mickey Smith: The Time Lords put those Daleks in there? What for?
The Doctor: It's a prison ship.
Rose: How many Daleks?
The Doctor: Millions!

The Doctor: You may never see her again, your own mother!
Rose: I made my choice a long time ago and I’m never gonna leave you.

Rose: Can't you come through properly?
The Doctor: The whole thing would fracture, two universes would collapse.
Rose: So?

The Doctor: You're dead, officially, back home. So many people died that day and you'd gone missing. You're on the list of the dead. Here you are, living your life day after day. The one adventure I can never have.

Rose: When I am gonna see you again?
The Doctor: You can’t.

Rose: I love you.
The Doctor: Quite right, too...And I suppose, if it's my last chance to say it... Rose Tyler...
(The Doctor's holographic transmission cuts off and his image disappears)

(The Doctor finds a woman wearing a wedding dress in the TARDIS)
The Doctor: What?
The Bride: Huh?
The Doctor: What?
The Bride: Who are you?
The Doctor: What...?
The Bride: Where am I?
The Doctor: What?
The Bride: What the hell is this place?!
The Doctor: What?!

Episode Goofs
It is never explained why the TARDIS, which has also travelled between the two parallel universes, is not sucked into the Void.
