Episode Notes |
| |
This episode marks the final regular cast appearance of Billie Piper (Rose Tyler) on the series. | This episode marks the second time Daleks have been given names, the first was in the classic serial "The Evil of the Daleks," only those Daleks were installed with the Human Factor by The Doctor and given independence and conscience. The Daleks here are just as evil, cold, and unrelenting as any member of their race. | The black Dalek flees at the conclusion of the episode, surviving the trap spurng by the Doctor, thus making it certain that the Daleks are back in our universe for keeps. | Although they previously appeared in "The Five Doctors" and "Army of Ghosts", this is the first time that the Daleks and the Cybermen have appeared in a scene together. | Peter Hawkins, who provided the voices of both the Daleks and the Cybermen in several of the early serials, died after a long illness the same day that this episode originally aired. |

Episode Quotes |
| |
Rose: When I am gonna see you again?
The Doctor: You can’t. | Rose: Five million Cybermen, easy. One Doctor, now you’re scared. | The Doctor: You may never see her again, your own mother!
Rose: I made my choice a long time ago and I’m never gonna leave you. | The Doctor: Time Lord science. It's bigger on the inside.
Mickey: The Time Lords put those Daleks in there? What for?
The Doctor: It's a prison ship.
Rose: How many Daleks?
The Doctor: Millions! | Pete Tyler: All those daft little plans of mine, they worked; made me rich.
Jackie: I don’t care about that… how rich?
Pete Tyler: Very.
Jackie Tyler: I don’t care about that… how “very”? | The Doctor: (referring to Rose) She's answered, she's alive. Why haven't they killed her?
Jackie: Don't complain! | Rose: Can't you come through properly?
The Doctor: The whole thing would fracture, two universes would collapse.
Rose: So? | The Doctor: You're dead, officially, back home. So many people died that day and you had gone missing. You're on the list of the dead...Here you are, living your life day after day. The one adventure I can never have. | (The Doctor finds a woman wearing a wedding dress in the TARDIS)
The Doctor: What?
The Bride: Huh?
The Doctor: What?
The Bride: Who are you?
The Doctor: What...?
The Bride: Where am I?
The Doctor: What?
The Bride: What the hell is this place?!
The Doctor: What?! | Rose: I love you.
The Doctor: Quite right, too...And I suppose, if it's my last chance to say it...Rose Tyler...
(The Doctor's holographic transmission cuts off and his image disappears) | (The Daleks have just killed Rajesh Singh)
Rose: You didn't need to kill him!
Black Dalek: Neither did we need him alive. | Dalek: Identify yourself!
Cyberman: You will identify first.
Dalek: State your identity!
Cyberman: You will identify first.
Dalek: Identify!
Mickey: (to Rose) It's like Stephen Hawking meets the speaking clock.
Cyberman: Your repeated request is illogical. You will modify.
Dalek: Daleks do not take orders!
Cyberman: You have identified as "Daleks".
(The Black Dalek is observing the conversation on a screen)
Black Dalek: Outline resembles the inferior species known as "Cybermen." | Cyberman: Our species are similar, though your design is inelegant.
Dalek: Daleks have no concept of elegance!
Cyberman: This is obvious. But consider, our technologies are compatible. Cybermen plus Daleks; together, we could upgrade the universe.
Dalek: You propose an alliance?
Cyberman: This is correct.
Dalek: Request denied!
Cyberman: Hostile elements will be deleted. | Cyber Leader: Daleks, be warned. You have declared war upon the Cybermen.
Dalek Sec: This is not war. This is pest control!
Cyber Leader: We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?
Dalek Sec: Four.
Cyber Leader: You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?
Dalek Sec: We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You are superior in only one respect.
Cyber Leader: What is that?
Dalek Sec: You are better at dying. | The Doctor: (to Rose) How are you?
Rose: Oh...you know, same old.
The Doctor: Good. And Mickety... Mick... Mickey! Nice to see ya!
Mickey: You too, boss.
Dalek Jast: Social interaction will cease! |
