I'm surprised they went with someone who has a similar look to Tennant...not that they're identical, just young and dark haired. The previous regenerations have usually gone toward the opposite look...

But based on the interview I'm looking forward to his portrayal. He seems very enthusiastic!

I agree it would of been good if they had gone for somebody with a completely different look.

This seems to be a common complaint/observation.

I trust Moffat. The guy is a great writer -- not only has he written a great series like Coupling, but his eps of DW have been among the very best -- with each of the first three winning the Hugo award for the year of its eligibility (the fourth season ep will no doubt be up for the Hugo in August of this year, and likely the winner).

Since he's taking over, with both Davies and Tennant deciding to leave (unfortunate, that, but it's both life & Who), it falls on Moffat, as the new series director, to pick and choose who will fit his idea of Doctor Who best. He knows what sort of stories he plans to tell, and What Who will best fit the sort of stories he plans to write.

So, while one certainly can have one's own impression of what should happen, I'm going to trust Moffat's ideas of Who Is Who better than my own or anyone else's, and I suggest that should be the viewpoint of anyone reading this:

It's not that your opinions can't be any good, but do you really think they're likely to be better than someone like Moffat?

Trust in the guy who's in charge, especially when he's shown himself to be very very good at the job already.
