Season 2 (Series 2 (Torchwood)) |
| | | The newly regenerated Doctor takes Rose to the far future again, this time to New Earth, where they encounter the sinister Lady Cassandra again. The Doctor and Rose travel back in time to meet Queen Victoria, at which time she founds the Torchwood Institute, to protect Great Britain against hostile aliens. They then receive a call from Mickey, telling them there is an alien problem at a school in the present, when they investigate the school in question they come across Sarah Jane Smith and K9! The Doctor's old companions, who are also investigating the same stories. They visit the 1950s and witness the Queen's coronation, and 18th century France, where they meet Madame de Pompadour. When the TARDIS picks up on a mysterious planet orbiting a black hole, they go to investigate, however they encounter a language so old that even the TARDIS can't translate it, and imprisoned deep inside the planet is an ancient evil, possibly Satan himself. However, the TARDIS is sucked into an alternate universe, where one of the Doctor's most feared enemies, the Cybermen, have just been created, and are intent on converting the entire Earth's population in to Cybermen. They give the resistance a fighting chance, especially with Mickey staying behind to help, and the TARDIS crosses back into it's own universe. However, in the series finale, the Cybermen find a way to cross the void and come to this Earth, in order to add to their Cyber-ranks. To make matters worse, the Daleks return, with their "Genesis Ark", a prison ship, filled with thousands upon thousands of Daleks! The Daleks and Cybermen battle it out in the Torchwood tower for control of the Earth, the only way the Doctor and Rose can destroy them both is to return them to the void, where they will perish. But in doing so, Rose is returned to the alternate dimension, and because the void has been sealed, there is no way back. | |
