The arrival of the Doctor's old rival the Master sets the seeds for a new Auton invasion. The Doctor gains a new assistant, Jo Grant, just as all of humanity is threatened by deadly living plastic.
The Nestene energy sphere left over from the earlier Auton invasion has been stolen, and the Doctor has been warned that the Master has arrived on Earth. The Master has allied himself with the Nestene Consciousness in its latest bid for world conquest. The Auton's invade....
The Master attempts to work with the Nestene Consciousness in an effort to conquer the planet.
The Doctor catches up with the Master. The Doctor attempts to stop the Nestene Consciousness.
The Doctor pays a visit to Stangmoor Prison to see the Keller Machine, a revolutionary new type of rehabilitation aid but discovers his fellow observers literally dying of fear. The Doctor attempts to find the connection to a peace conference taking place in London.
The American delegate Senator Alcott shows up at the Chinese delegate Fu Peng suite but finds it empty. Chin Lee enters the room behind him and a strange pulsing glow lights up the room. The Senator is shocked as an image of a dragon appears to menace him.
The Doctor enters Stangmoor prison, not knowing the inmates are in charge. In the process chamber, the Master chains the Doctor to a chair beside the Keller Machine The Machine activates and the Doctor reacts as he hears the voice of a Dalek and sees puctures of many of his former foes.
The Keller Machine materialises in the process chamber and the Doctor and Jo. Mailer attempts to destroy it before leaving the Doctor and Jo to its mercy.
UNIT troops attempt to deal with the convicts as they battle for control of the prison . Mailer releases the Doctor and Jo from the cell in which they have been held so that he can use them as hostages.
The Doctor attempts to beat the Master before it is too late.
Axos, a living spacecraft, lands and offers the plant a new energy source called Axonite.
Chinn attempts to exploit Axonite. The Doctor soon discovers though that the miracle substance is not as benign as it looks.
Axos puts its plan into motion to drain the planet of its energy as it attempts to force the Doctor to divulge the secret of time travel. The Brigadier is forced turn to an unlikely ally to try and stop it.
The Claws of Axos are now embedded in the planet's carcass. It looks like though that the Doctor is only interested in trying to save himself.
The TARDIS takes The Doctor and Jo to the planet Uxarieus, in the year 2472 after the Time Lords temporarily reactivate the time machine. They discover colonists from Earth finding it hard to survive on a desolate world.
An IMC mining ship shows up on the planet. Tensions begin to rise as IMC sees the planet as ripe for strip-mining. The Doctor stands in their way though.
Jo and the Doctor find themselves caught in a fight between interplanetary colonists and the mining corporation. The inhabitants of the planet could be facing an even greater danger though.
The Doctor attempts to rescue Jo from the alien city. A familiar face shows up to adjudicate in the dispute between the miners and the colonists.
A war has now broken out between colonists and miners on the planet Uxarieus. The Master though has other interests, to which the Doctor might be critical.
The Master attempts to get his hands on the most powerful weapon in the Universe. The fight between the colonists and the miners comes to its conclusion.
Devil's End, April 30th: Archaeologist Professor Horner is planning to break open the barrow of Devil's Hump against the warnings of the local white witch. The Doctor and Jo race to stop the professor. Meanwhile, the new vicar Reverend Magister arrives and turns out to be the Master.
Having failed to stop Professor Horner, the Doctor has become frozen solid. Meanwhile, the Master calls upon a creature called Azal and soon a heat barrier cuts the village off from the rest of the world.
Having recovered, the Doctor discovers the Master is behind everything and that he is trying to awaken a Dæmon, creatures who came to Earth 100,000,000 years ago and helped shape mankind.
The Master calls Azal for the second time and the Dæmon agrees to appear once more. Meanwhile, the Doctor is attacked by the Master's agents, posing as morris dancer and is tied to the maypole ready to be burnt.
Now Azal has appeared for the third and final time, he will decide whether to pass his power on to a worthy person or destroy Earth as a failed experiment. Can the Doctor rescue Jo who is being held captive by the Master and save the world?
