To answer my own question, not really. |

They're good for what they are. An attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the Daleks, without actually doing anything else from the series (or making it more palatable to American audiences). And otherwise making big-budget color versions of the original material. |

Maybe so but they fall apart when compared to the original serials. Peter Cushing and Bernard Cribbins are very good in them though. |

it's been a while. Other then the more comedic elements, and the restructuring of the TARDIS team (obviously "Grandfather Who" and Susie aren't going to compete with the TV show), what in particular is different? Obviously they're not going to wrong as long, but that's not always a bad thing... |

I don't mind the comedic elements (other than the fact that they could have been funnier). I think the problem was that both times they tried to jam a two and a half / three hour plot into about 80 minutes while retaining all of the major plot points and most of the minor one. This is particularly apparent in Daleks' Invasion Earth. They simply put in far more than can be explored adequately in a film. In my opinion, that makes the whole effort look rushed and bit of a mess. I think that they needed to restructure the script in order to make a good film out of it. |
