Episode Quotes

Romana: They're on our side.
The Doctor: I thought as much.
Kimus: But I don't understand.
The Doctor: Exciting, isn't it?

K9: My subsequent analysis of their brainwave patterns indicated no malice when they attacked him
Mula: You mean they slammed him to the wall with good vibrations?
K9: Affirmative.

The Captain: Excellent, Mr. Fibuli, excellent. Your death shall be delayed.
Mr. Fibuli: Oh, thank you. Again and again, sir. Your goodness confounds me.

Mr. Fibuli: It is here, sir, in the planetary system of the star Sol. The planet Terra.
Captain: Ah yes, a pretty planet.
Mr. Fibuli: It looks a pleasant world, Captain.
Captain: Then it will be pleasant to destroy it.

The Doctor: You won't get away with it, you know.
Captain: And what makes you so certain of that?
The Doctor: At the moment, nothing at all. But it does my morale no end of good just to say it. I've been tied to pillars by better men than you, Captain.

(to the Captain)
The Doctor: What is it you're really up to, huh? What do you want? You don't want to take over the Universe, do you? No. You wouldn't know what to do with it – beyond shout at it.

Captain: Wag your tongue well, Doctor. It is the only weapon you have left.

Captain: So, Doctor, you have survived.
The Doctor: Yes, I’m afraid I seem unable to break the habit.

Episode References

While imprisoned, the Doctor mutters "no more Janis thorns," a callback to his previous companion, Leela, who was prone to killing her opponent with the poisoned plants.

The eight planets that the Captain has destroyed are: Calufrax, Bandraginus V, Aterica, Bibicorpus, Granados, Lowiteliom, Temesis, and Tridentio III.
