A survivor of Hurricane Katrina, Susan met her Race partners Ivy and Leigh during the hurricane itself - Susan was a hospital worker, and the two women helped her save the patients in her care. Together, they decided to take part in The Race, but it soon became clear that Susan and Leigh were on a different side, morally-speaking, to Ivy - and after Ivy jumped ship to partner with Wendy, it seemed like Susan and Leigh were done for.
Luckily, Mr Bright informed them of the checkpoint location, and they finally arrived (after acquiring a new car) - unfortunately, he had only called them there so that they could return the Race phone. It is then that Susan reveals her reasons for taking part - God told her to, just like he told her "they" would help her during the hurricane (shortly before Leigh and Ivy showed up). Adamant to carry on, Susan dragged a reluctant Leigh back into The Race - but just as it looked like they could be back in with a shot, they were run off the road and forced into a car crash.
Dying, Susan finally revealed what God had told her - that Leigh, not Susan, would win The Race. Susan knew her time was up, as she died in her friend's arms. |
