Senti-Mental Journey - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Jane goes into work and her past life fiancee invites her to breakfast so she can get her mind off of the break up with Tony. Unfortunately, she has to go bail her mother out of jail instead. When she shows up to the jail her mother is standing on a bench singing show tunes. She has quite a few charges against her this time around that include disorderly conduct, assault, and indecent exposure. This was all over the fact that she wanted to put her feet into the fountain at the mall.

Judge Summers (Rosie O'Donnell) has decided to get her a psych evaluation and she can be released, but only in the care of Jane. While they spend a lot of time together, she learns that this is not the first time that she has defended her mother. When they go to get her her evaluation, the psychiatrist needs another family member to tell her about the medical history. Since Jane doesn't know her mother's medical history (since she's obviously not really Jane) she thinks that they should talk to her father. Teri is caught off guard by this and says that they do not speak.

Despite the fact that they no longer speak, they still talk to him. He mentions that she has been more and more crazy as time goes by. He has had a very hard time trying to have simple conversations with her, too. He also mentions that Jane was pretty mad when he decided to leave her mother. When they get to her evaluation the doctor tells them that she is currently manic which is a part of being bipolar. She doesn't think people really care about her and most importantly she is still upset that her husband cheated on her. Henry gets uncomfortable and leaves.

Next is the hearing where Jane thinks that the medication that her mother was on was what caused her to be mania. The truth comes out, though. It seems that her mother has been on this particular medication for fifteen years (and that is when she was diagnosed) and she was on it so that she could continue to be manic. After the hearing, she talks to her mother and she says that she was embarrassed about the fact that she is mentally ill and didn't want to tell anyone about it.

They went back to the hearing and it turns out that if she gets treatment she is going to really need to have someone take care of her since she's going to be doing outpatient treatment. Her ex husband immediately stands up and tells her that he is still very much in love with her and wants to make sure that she is taken care of. She also says that she knows that he didn't cheat on her and they end up getting back together with one another.

Joan Finer is a woman that needs the help of Grayson. She needs to get money she lost to a Ponzi scheme back and it proves to be a difficult case. They learn that the advisor is dying of cancer and Parker thinks that they should seriously consider dropping the case since there will be no benefit. Grayson thinks that he should keep going and when Jane asks him why he is so devoted to this case, he completely snaps on her.

Grayson goes a bit rogue and decides to work on his own. He makes some threats and eventually gets a settlement. Parker is really angry and pretty much wants to fire him, but won't do it because the law firm that is their opposition would take him on in a heart beat and they can't have them winning can they? Later on, Grayson and Jane get some time to talk and he tells her why he snapped on her about the case. When he was younger his father lost all of his money to a ponzi scheme. His father left the family when he was three years old. This makes Deb feel pretty hurt, but Jane is happy to hear something so important which means she is getting somewhere. Unfortunately, the fact that Deb didn't know this information makes it less of a win however.

There is a lot going on with Fred, too. He was trying to keep Kim and Parker's secret but there was smudged lipstick on Parker that pretty much gave it away. It opened a new can of worms. He gets yelled at to learn how to drive and asks that Teri teach him. A female cop pulls him over and she hits on him for whatever reason. He doesn't want to cheat on Stacy, but he just does it because Jane tells him to.

He gets his date with the officer and she comes to the office. Unfortunately for Fred, his honesty puts his foot in his mouth and ends up ruining his chances because he told her that he is in love with someone else that is not really tangible. Things did not work out from there. Honesty is great, but not that kind of honesty.
