In the beginning of Drop Dead Diva, Jane has been requested by Grayson to provide second chair on a case that involves a musical duo named Confetti. Jane was really hoping that this musical act would end up being Jennifer Lopez, but she will do it anyway because her crush asked this of her. Parker and Kim are still having to struggle with keeping their affair a secret due to the fact that Fred is randomly yelling things that may be blowing their cover. Not only that but Fred has decided he needs to learn about women and decided to watch the Animal Channel so that he can learn about them. Whatever works, Fred.
Jane learns that the women that are in Confetti are being accused of murder. The victim is their manager who goes by the name Chris Fabricant. Due to the fact that there are two of them there needs to be two different lawyers to defend them. The other lawyer is from another firm and her name is Vanessa. Jane's bubble is burst when she realizes that Grayson is very much attracted to this woman. Not only that but he gets on with Vanessa better making it easier for them to work together.
Vanessa and Grayson drag Jane through all of the annoyances that come with the beginning of a relationship and are playing with each other's food. The sisters are being charged with murder because they apparently bludgeoned their manager when they were not happy with some mess up in their contract. They have an alibi about being at the movies when this murder occurred but it isn't solid. The man who found the body is a neighbor and someone that was a competing manager. Not only that, but he was not happy about not being able to manage Confetti. There is another witness who saw Tina threaten the manager when he wanted to get another person to join their group.
It turns out that the girls were not at the movies as the exact movie they said they were at had sold out online while they said that they paid for the tickets in cash. It turns out that Jessica had lied to her sister about being alone because she was seeing her ex. Her ex is going to take the stand to be questioned about it, too. Stacy thinks that Tina obviously did it because she didn't go to some big party. Jane questions Tina and Tina tells her that she was at home sick because she went on some diet that her manager demanded she go on to lose extra weight. It turns out that Jane found a demo made by the victim's assistant as she wanted to be the third member. Unfortunately for her, she was laughed at about it and that is where he met his fate.
Parker and Kim have their own case to worry about with a client named Francine Waters. She owns a bed and breakfast and a review website has given her a nasty review due to the fact that she didn't buy ad space with their site. The reviewers on the website are anonymous and the owners claim that the review is a legitimate one. Kim asks Teri to go dig up some dirt on them and they find out that the owner of the website invests in a hotel that competes with the bed and breakfast. Unfortunately for Kim, she gets embarrassed when he says that she invests money out of a "blind trust" by her advisor.
Teri has found the reviewer and the lawyers decide to cross examine this person. The reviewer turns out to be one of Parker's jilted lovers. She told him that she loved the owner and he replied with an oops. So, she wrote a really nasty review after that. There is an apology and the B&B ends up being reviewed again. Now Kim is worried and has asked him to get a place together so that she isn't just another girl he slept with.
Fred is coming up with all kinds of ideas when it comes to dating, but nothing seems to work. He thinks that if he has a fake girlfriend then he will be able to make Stacy jealous and want to be with him. Jane says that it isn't going to work so he decides that he is going to get a real girlfriend. He meets a girl named Kiley and he fails horribly at using her. She walks out on him during their date so that she can go get back with her ex boyfriend.
