<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
After disposing of his father's ashes, Eli prepares to leave India but the official at the airport won't let him take the can with him due to the possibility of drug smuggling. Eli talks to his father through the can and asks him to stop Eli from receiving any more visions.

In San Francisco, Eli comes back from his two-week vacation and Patti is less then thrilled with all the calls that have been building up. He goes to the staff meeting and says he's grateful to be back, then manages to snag the Salinsky case from Matt. A new associate Maggie Dekker, brings them the case of Ramirez vs. GroPLus Farms, only for the senior partners to discover she wants them to represent the Ramirez couple rather than the company. Senior partner Martin Posner in particular is not thrilled. Maggie is hoping that Eli will take the case given his recent victory in a pro bono case, but he refuses. However, he starts hearing a boys' choir singing and thumps is head on the desk in exasperation.

Eli goes to see Nathan who warns that any attempt at surgery could cripple Eli or leave him in a vegetative state. Eli wonders if his visions might have some greater meaning but Nathan doesn't agree and tells him to take a break from climbing mountaintops.

Outside, Eli calls Chen for an appointment but is interrupted when a biplane comes directly down the street at him. He dives out of the way only to realize that nobody else knows what he's doing as it's another vision.

Eli goes back to the office and asks Patti to check on biplanes and boys' choirs, then finds out that Maggie has been pestering him via e-mail to take the Ramirez case. He insists that it's an unwinnable case since the Ramirez couple is immigrants and goes to see Jordan about the Salinsky case. However, Eli sees the same biplane flying outside the window and dives to the floor. Once he realizes it's a hallucination, he tries to explain to Jordan it was just glare, but Jordan isn't sympathetic. As Eli gathers up his briefcase he notices a photo that Maggie left him with the Ramirezes, standing in front of a biplane. Realizing there's a connection, he says he'll be taking on that case.

Eli and Maggie meet with the Ramirezes, Blanca and Oscar, and go into court. Oscar testifies that the protective measures against the chemicals were insufficient, but is forced to admit that Blanca is the only employee claiming they were rendered infertile. However, he notes that the other workers are illegal immigrants and he insists on coming to court so that he could seek justice in the American way.

Jordan meets with his daughter Taylor and wonders if Eli is okay, but she assures him he's fine. At the news that Eli is acting is acting stressed again, she goes into the ladies' room and cries, where a hostile Patti finds her. Taylor wonders why Patti isn't working with her to help Eli with his condition brought on by the brain aneurysm, surprising Patti who didn't know about it.

Eli and Maggie meet with GroPlus' attorney who reveals that the Ramirezes have fake papers and since Oscar is a licensed pilot, he can get Homeland Security to deport them before the case finishes. Eli refuses to drop the matter but is angry with Maggie for failing to turn up this information.

The next day, Eli deals with the deportation hearing and has Maggie stall in court with the Ramirezes' case. He manages to get the couple 48 hours and tries to get to their hearing, while Maggie has Blanca testify that the other workers, illegal immigrants, are too afraid to testify. However, the GroPlus attorney notes that the couple has no evidence that Blanca was fertile before working for the company. Blanca is forced to admit that she did have a child with someone before Oscar and then gave it up for adoption.

Furious at the news that Blanca has been proven a liar, Eli lights into Maggie who snaps back at him for being a jerk and storms out. Patti is also mad with him, demanding to know why he didn't tell her about his brain aneurysm. He tells her he's trying to keep it a secret so he doesn't have to face up to it or make it any more real. That night, he talks to Taylor who wants to help him deal with the situation by talking it out, but he doesn't want to.

The next day, the jury finds in favor of GroPlus and Oscar is unhappy with the fact his wife hid something from, and left the child at a church before naming him. Eli, having been through the same thing, tries to explain about keeping secrets. The deportation hearing is the next day and Oscar leaves, as Eli hears the boys' choir singing in the WPK offices. He goes to investigate and finds Jordan singing the George Michael song "Freedom" with the choir. Eli just stares until the vision ends and he finds himself staring at Jordan in real life. Eli asks for one more day before taking on the Salinsky case, and Jordan grants his request.

At Chen's, Eli has a beer and gripes about how he's getting the raw end of the deal. Chen notices that the Ramirezes have it a lot rougher and Eli gets an idea for a closing statement. The next day he goes before the judge and starts asking Oscar questions from the naturalization test. Oscar knows the answers, and Eli makes an impassioned speech insisting Oscar and Blanca be treated as people. The judge grants them two years to compete the naturalization process. Happy, the Ramirezes plan to find Blanca's child and Eli realizes what the boys' choir indicates: he sends the couple to the church the choir performs at so they can be reunited with their lost child.

Later, Eli goes to see Jordan and say he's turning down the Salinsky case and changing the way he practices law so he isn't helping rich companies. Jordan admits he had high hopes for Eli and viewed him as a son, then notes that Eli may have to give up everything to help poorer people. Afterward, Eli talks to Patti and she's okay with him now. At home he opens up to Taylor and tells her about his new round of visions. They end up making out but as the do, Eli hears something new: artillery fire. As he looks around, he sees that they're in the middle of a war zone...
