Buffy befriends a classmate named Eve, who is bed-ridden with an unkown illness. Buffy involves her Uncle Bill who hires a specialist to look at the young girl. Unfortunately, the diagnosis is that the illness is incurable and the young child has little time left. Therefore, Christmas is held early for the little child by her parents and the Davis family under the guise that Uncle Bill is to be away from his family on Christmas day because of his job.
Buffy & Jody befreind a girl named Albertine who claims to everyone about a father who had left her and mom behind.
Cissy's teenage friend gets a monumental crush on Uncle Bill and announces that they're "practically engaged."
Bill looks for asistance when he learns the case of Buffy's deaf friend, Juanita, whose mother doesn't allow her to go to school.
Buffy and Jody are concerned about rumors of a tidal wave predicted to wipe out all of New York by a TV personality known to make wild predictions that sometimes come true. They question the rumor, and then Uncle Bill, who explains that tidal waves are caused by underwater earthquakes and that no one can predict when and where an earthquake will strike. Somewhat comforted, they still have lingering doubts, even as Uncle Bill cuts short a business trip to be with the children at the final hour.
Chaps Callahan, one of uncle Bill's employees is an old actor of Westerns and at the same time Jody's big television idol, something that Uncle Bill ignored. In order to calm the child, who wants to meet his favorite hero, uncle Bill promises that he will bring him for dinner.
Buffy wants to join an exclusive club at school called "Mod Maidens". But her admission is denied because of her age, she is too young. Uncle Bill intervenes.
