Episode Quotes
Stewie: Who would have thought that all this trouble could be caused by simply uttering "Gosh that Italian family at the next table sure is quiet"
[Meg gets up and dials a number]
Meg: (speaks a string of russian)
Russian guy: Shut up 2476

Episode Goofs
If every one of Russian's citizens are bears on unicycles, like Dan says, then they shouldn't able to be captured by human Russian soldiers.

Peter says they are having dinner with 2 of the 3 Ghost Busters.

There were 4 Ghost Busters.

Cultural References
The title (as well as the plot and costumes seen when they are in Russia) for this episode is a take off of the 1985 comedy “Spies Like Us” which also star Chevy Chase (1943-) & Dan Aykroyd (1952-)

During Peter's Poop Montage, the 2000 song “Let's Get Loud” by Jennifer Lopez (1969-) is played

Chevy Chase's 1994 movie “Cops and Robbersons” and Dan Aykroyd's 1988 “My Stepmother is an Alien” are mentioned in this episode when Peter claims to have seen all of Chevy and Dan's movies a thousand times.

Peter: “I can't believe I'm going to have dinner with 2 of the 3 amigos”

Peter is referring to the 1986 comedy “¡Three Amigos!”, although the movie actually starred Martin Short (1950-), Steve Martin (1945-) & Chevy Chase, not Aykroyd

Peter: “Can you believe it, we're eating with 2 of the 3 Ghost Busters”
Chevy: “Actually I wasn't in that”

Peter is referring to the 1984 film “Ghost Busters” that starred Aykroyd, Bill Murray (1950-) & Harold Ramis (1944-) and as Chevy mentioned, not him.

Peter does a bad impression of the legendary Western actor John Wyane (1907-1979) in this episode.

Stewie: “Look Brian, I've colored Sebastian the Crab blue. If that isn't a middle finger to society I don't know what is.
Oh I don't like it anymore, I wish I had colored him red.”

“Sebastian the Crab” is a character from the 1989 Disney feature “The Little Mermaid”

The quote “Why don't you gentlemen have a Pepsi” is from Chase & Aykroyd's 1985 movie “Spies Like Us”.

Also Stewie's line later in the episode of “You just shut your mooouth mister” comes from “Spies Like Us” as well.

Stewie: “Can we be spies like them?”

After Stewie's line the camera pans to a black and white character.
These two characters, appropriately named “Black Spy” and “White Spy”, are from a comic series featured in “Mad Magazine”.

Created in 1961, they are constantly trying to destroy one another and stealing each others secrets.

They have a recurring presence on the Cartoon Network show appropriately titled “MAD” (2010-)

Stewie: “Hey is Ron Howard's weird looking brother one of these lab technicians?”

Stewie is referring to actor Clint Howard (1959-)

Stewie: “I haven't been this...um...since I...”

Stewie's attempt at a cutaway apparently involves Wilma Rudolph (1940-1994).
She was an American athlete, and in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy, she became the first American woman to win three gold medals in track and field during a single Olympic Games.

Joe: “How 'bout the joke rich boys”

A play on words of the country musical group, The Oak Ridge Boys

Glen: “...and I know I'm dating myself but Three Smile Island”

Three Mile Island was the location of a partial core meltdown accident involving the nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania.

Visual: Aykroyd's tracking device

The device Aykroyd uses is none other than a PKE Meter from the movie “Ghost Busters”

Stewie: “Time to lose this costume”

This gag is a reference to Matryoshka Dolls also known as a Russian Nested Dolls or a Babushka Dolls, is a set of dolls of decreasing sizes placed one inside the other.

Putin: “On the scale of our 1981 failed Czechoslovakian occupation outpost which was penetrated by Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and a ragtag band of misfit solders who didn't even graduate. They slept through the graduation ceremony yet somehow managed to come out of the manhole wearing fresh pressed suits.”

Putin is describing the plot of the Murry/Ramis 1981 comedy “Stripes”

Putin: “Here is Russian cutaway gag”

The Russian gag is possibly a reference to a 1975 Soviet animated film titled “Hedgehog in the Fog”

The character of “Mike Brady” & “Alice” the maid from “The Brady Bunch” (1969-1974) are seen in this episode.

Peter: “Here's John Wayne Bobbit at the first Thanksgiving. Where's my penis pilgrims”
Peter: “Here's John Wayne Gacy at the first Thanksgiving. I want to dress up like a clown and have sex with children and kill them pilgrims”

John Wayne Bobbit (1967-) had his penis severed by his then wife in 1993.

John Wayne Gacy (1942-1994) was a notorious serial killer who committed 33 murders and was executed in 1994 for those crimes.

Episode References
“Cleveland Brown” & “Tim the Bear” from “The Cleveland Show” make special appearances in this episode in a scene harking back to the numerous times his Quahog home was destroyed causing his tub to slowly slide out and smash.
