There's a book next to Meg who is sitting on the couch while she is talking to Lois who is talking to Meg. However, when Peter returns home with beer, the book is gone.
| Peter drinks a glass of beer, with the quarter still in it, and then the scene cuts to a flashback. When it returns, the glass is full again, and remains that way.
| Captain Crunch is wearing red but the character actually wears blue.

The first and second acts of “Wasted Talent” are based on 1971's “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” including among others, Pawtucket Pat's appearance being similar to the star Gene Wilder.
Instead of silver scrolls hidden in beer bottles Willy Wonka placed 5 golden tickets inside his chocolate bars for kids to find and win admittance to his chocolate factory.
| Cleveland: “Yeah, you never win anything. Remember when you went on Password”
Peter appeared on the game show “Password” (1961-1975) aka “Password Plus” (1979-1982) aka “Super Password” (1984-1989) aka “Million Dollar Password” (2008-) with TV and film actor Tony Randall.
The clue being FLAMING and Peter insinuating Tony is a flaming homosexual, despite the fact he wasn't.

Peter: “Not now Gazoo, I want to be alone”
“Gazoo” aka “The Great Gazoo” is a reference to “The Flintstones” (1960-1966).
The same little green alien would appear to Fred Flintstone & Barney Rubble during the final season of the series and primarily cause trouble.

Allusion to 1982's “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan”.
Khan placed similar carnivorous worms into the ears of Commander Chekov and Captain Terrell in order to gain control over their minds.

This line is used in “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” when the character of Charlie Bucket finds the final golden ticket. Peter also runs home to the instrumental version of “(I've Got a) Golden Ticket” that was sung in the movie by Charlie and Grandpa Joe.
