Neil Goldman is actually the name of a writer on the show. This is done again with Craig Hoffman later in the series.

We learn that Meg is allergic to peanuts in the episode.

Mort Goldman tells the story of how he and his wife had their first kiss on a "cold winter night at the age of 14". But, in another episode, they tell the story of how they met on a video dating service long after they were 14.

When Neil Goldman is narrating a scene from what is apparently season one, episode 18 of Star Trek the original series; the scene is actually from the 19th episode of season one. Also, Neil says that Kirk's stunt double is Fred Lubins, when the stunt doubles name for that particular scene was played by Dick Dial.

Peter: We all miss the News Meg, but Huey Lewis needs time to create, and we need to learn to be patient.

Huey Lewis is the lead singer of the Huey Lewis and the News, an 80's band.
