Family Guy: I Dream of Jesus

When Peter re-discovers his love for the painfully annoying yet seductively catchy tune "Surfin' Bird," Brian and Stewie decide to take matters into their own hands to ensure that the song will never be heard again!

Peter goes to every record store in Quahog to track down his beloved jingle, and he runs into a familiar face, none other than Jesus.

During the final credits the normal theme is replaced by Surfin' Bird

This episode along with “Family Gay” & “Road to Germany” were the ones submitted to the Emmy committee that earned Family Guy a “Best Comedy” nomination for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards, which no big shocker, they lost to “30 Rock”

The title “I Dream of Jesus” is a take off on the sitcom title “I Dream of Jeannie” that ran from '65-'70 starring Barbara Eden & Larry Hagman

James Dean, an actor who died in a car crash in 1955, has become an icon due to his short career and violent death.

Pee Wee's Big Adventure

During Peter's PSA, he does the dance (alternating his hands in front and behind) created and performed by Paul Ruben's character Pee Wee Herman in the 1985 movie 'Pee Wee's Big Adventure'

Mission Impossible

When retrieving the 45 Peter is sleeping with, Stewie lowers Brian in the same style as Tom Cruise's character in 'Mission Impossible'

Allan Sherman's "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh"

Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh is the Grammy-winning novelty song based on Kvetch letters Allan Sherman received from his son attending Camp Champlain, New York. It reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks beginning August 24, 1963

Office Space

Brian and Stewie destroying Peter's 'Surfin' Bird' record is taken from the 1999 movie 'Office Space'.
The scene is complete with same music & w/ the record replacing a fax machine from the movie.

Peter: "Well if you're not Jesus Christ then you won't mind if I pee on these Amy Grant CDs"

Amy Grant is a Christian singer who in 1991 released a mainstream #1 pop song, 'Baby Baby', and after a few years returned to her Christian roots.
Amy also hosted the short lived NBC reality show 'Three Wishes'

Cracked is a knock-off of MAD magazine created 6 years after MAD.

New York Post Headline: Jesus Bigger Than Jesus

Throw back to The Beatles when they were quoted as saying then were bigger than Jesus

Tom Tucker: "Tonight's top story, local record shop employee, Jesus Christ was found in Mary Kate Olsen's apartment this morning, face down and unconscious."

This is a reference to the circumstances surrounding Heath Ledger's death.
Although Heath was found in his own apartmant by his housekeeper and masseuse.
The masseuse (for some reason) called Mary Kate Olsen who was in California for help before calling 911.

Tom Tucker: "{Jesus} was quoted as saying Jews are responsible for all the world's wars"

Another throw back to the comments made by Mel Gibson during his 2006 drunk driving arrest.

Episode References
While in the record store, Peter starts to sing 'Surfin' Bird'. He walks up to the 'camera' and continues to angrily sing the song.
Peter did the the same thing but with laughter in the episode 'Play It Again, Brian'
