Doomsday - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Open up to a usual day for the Fantastic Four -- an alien monster rampaging downtown. The Thing and the Human Torch take on the monster while making cracks at each other. Sue and Reed show up a little bit later, with Reed wielding a device designed to pen up a "Negative Zone." Reed uses the device to teleport the monster back to where it came from. Then, after the fight, the Fantastic Four unite on the ground, where they are greeted by the media. The media tells the team about a paper that Reed supposedly wrote. The paper tells of how Reed purposely exposed Sue, Ben, and Johnny to the rays that turned them into the Fantastic Four.

Ben and the others begin to question Reed about the paper that he wrote, asking him if he really did what the media had said that he did. Reed tells them that he DID write a paper discussing the effects of cosmic radiation, but he didn't mention anything about experimentation or a space station. Ben and Johnny don't believe what Reed was saying. Johnny leaves the room, with Sue following him. As the two of them exit an elevator, the media begins to bombard them with questions. Johnny retreats, with Sue following him. In the sky, Johnny tells Sue about how his powers where the best thing that ever happened to him. However, he says Ben got really ugly and he couldn't forgive Reed for ruining Ben's life.

Cut to Ben talking with his friend Alicia. Ben confides in her about his true feelings about the situation, leaving Alicia to tell him he's wrong. Alicia manages to convince Ben that Reed would never do the things that he and the media are accusing Reed of. The two of them are then interrupted by a giant robot that bursts through a wall. Meanwhile, back in the sky, Susan and Johnny are both greeted by giant robots that attack them. Susan and Johnny put up a fight with the robots in the sky. Eventually, Ben, Susan, and Johnny get knocked out, and taken to Dr. Doom's headquarters.

Meanwhile at the Baxter building, Reed comes to the conclusion that somebody had altered his science journal, and sent that copy of the journal to the media. Reed then realizes that the whole thing was a trap when his arch enemy, Dr. Doom bursts into the building and begins to launch an attack on Reed.

Ben wakes up to the sight of him, Johnny, and Susan in separate chambers in Doom's headquarters. Ben, Susan, and Johnny each try to break out of their imprisonment, but they all fail horribly as the chambers where built to challenge their powers.

Meanwhile at the Baxter building again, Reed has been trapped by Dr. Doom in a special containment device that electrocutes Reed every time he activates his powers. Doom reveals to Reed that he discovered the Negative Zone much earlier than Reed had. Doom reveals to Reed that the Negative Zone is nexus of all universes. With Reed incapacitated, Doom boasts to him that Reed has no friends to rely on, and he tells Reed of his plans to destroy New York City using Reed's invention, leaving Reed with the blame.

Sue tells Ben and Johnny that they can't destroy the force fields, but they can destroy each other's force fields. Johnny frees Ben first, and then Ben frees the others. The team then realizes that they are in Dr. Doom's headquarters, and they come to the conclusion that Dr. Doom was behind everything -- the article, and the abductions.

The citizens of New York look up to where the Negative Zone is now located. Beams shoot out from the sky, along with many more of the monsters that the Fantastic Four where fighting earlier in the episode. Reed and Doom are still inside of the Baxter building, where the Fantastic Four show up and free Doom. The team manages to take down Dr. Doom, and Reed shuts down the rift, though things aren't in the clear yet... they still have to send the monsters back physically.

Doom manages to escape, leaving the Fantastic Four to fight him while Reed goes to get things back to normal. Reed manages to use the device to transport the creatures back to their home world. Reed then gets knocked out due to the strain -- leaving Ben to catch him. Sue and Johnny then arrive, along with the press. The press begins to attack Reed, with the team defending them. Reed tells them that he can show that Doom framed him, though he acknowledges everything that had happened was his fault, so Reed apologizes. Ben tells Reed that he no longer had any concerns about Reed being the cause of his destroyed life, and tells him to forget about it being his fault. Meanwhile at the Latverian embassy, Doom is enraged at his loss to the Fantastic Four.
