Reed sends out a deep space probe but it returns earlier, with its programming saying it needs repairs. The team check it out and discover that there are not one but two identical space probes. However, the second one shape shifts… and becomes a green point-eared alien. It’s curious about everything and hyper-annoying.
Reed can’t believe the creature, which he dubs the "Impossible Man," can exist or do what it’s doing. He figures that if the Impossible Man can get out of the building it could cause huge amount of damage to the city so the team tries to keep the Impossible Man interested in staying in the building. Eventually he gets bored and after picking a fight with Ben, gets outside and realizes there’s a whole world out there to explore.
The Impossible Man starts wandering around the city, causing minor disasters wherever he goes. Ben goes after him but doesn’t have any luck and the Impossible Man thinks it’s all a game. In fact, he thinks Earth is so fun that he turns into a transmitter and invites all of the millions of his people to Earth as well.
Reed has an idea and heads back to the Baxter Building while Johnny and Sue try to distract the Impossible Man. It doesn’t work and he gets into the Baxter Building… where Reed strips him of his powers. Reed gets him to promise to go back and take his people with him… but Johnny accidentally sits on a controller revealing that Reed has been using holograms to convince the Impossible Man he couldn’t change shape. The Impossible Man decides to stay, but the team acts bored with him and refuse to give him any attention. Finally the Impossible Man gets bored and decides to leave, after telling his people what a boring planet it is.
Later the Impossible Man keeps calling Reed and asking if he can come back, while Johnny has to fix all the damage the alien caused, because he messed up Reed’s plan.
